anything interesting in here as it relates to court today?

Yes! One of the Orlando stations had a sit down with a body language expert. The segment was fascinating. I hope to be able to find it and link it here.

I think it was at the 5:30 broadcast. I know it aired on 87.7 on the radio.

LOL! I had a feeling you'd say that. :)

hahaha! seriously though, i have a lot of issues when it comes to appearances, i am probably taking this all too personally.

i will agree to disagree and move on. :)

I think Jose getting her in court with the librarian/ ready for church look, and without the cuffs and shackles was doing his client a disservice.
It was all about public perception, and the public knows this is not who KC really is.She has lied about everything. Pretending to be someone she is not, is another lie.

Secondly, we know that her appearance matters to her alot, so it would have been a step toward change if we saw her arriving in the jail garb she wore when she was dragged into the last motions hearing.

JB's motion asking that KC not be forced to attend because the public focuses too much on her appearance, is laughable when he clearly sees her appearance as important since he brought her a conservative outfit.

But if she stuck to wearing the jail issued clothing, there would be no media frenzy or discussions on forums about what she was wearing, and it would show the public that her appearance is not her priority.

So I dont believe it was well thought out by her attys, or herself if they want to gain some a better public perception of her.
I know I was thinking "WTH? her daughter is dead, and her dad just tried to kill himself, and she still cares about how she looks!"
If we saw her arrive with tousled hair, scrubs and looking dishevelled, it would show she is losing sleep over this.

Her unaffectedness is one of the things that frustrate us the most. She doesnt care about losing her child, but still cares about looking good for the cameras and getting the chance to dress up for a day.

Is that clearer? Probably not, lol :)

IT could of course be Baez thought right you want to all chatter about her appearance then here discuss this.. maybe he has decided talking about "what she is wearing" is better than talking about "what she is doing" "how she is acting" etc

This could be his strategy

Jane - it could be part of it. Seems they are fairly successful in redirecting attention from the death of Caylee so far. None of the chattering class on tv was talking about that today -- just the appearance, hands, ankles crossed, clothes, hair, etc.

The defense and prosecution are equal opportunity targets for me. :D

Yes, it is clear ) Insertions by me) But, just because we understand her, doesn't mean we excuse her...... that is the beginnig of the end of our moral standards, & God knows they are dwindling as we speak!

I fear to even utter what I feel,........this is just the beginning of a New culture of evolved persona, that is an evolutionary problem of our times! JMO.

~ bolding is mine ~

What I dont understand is that you do excuse her actions by blaming her mother for making her the monster she became.:waitasec:
Nothing excuses her. Not mental illness, how she was raised, or anything else. She had a choice. And she chose to put herself ahead of her child every single step of the way....even now ( Personal appearance over taking responsibility for Caylees death).JMO

All I could think of when I watched Casey today was, this is the way she has gone through her life...throw out a big smile...ACT concerned and professional. This what she has used ON people probably from a child.

I may be jaded from all I know of her...all we have read...but her eyes are cold even when she is trying her hardest to "charm" someone. Her photographs show that IMO...all of them...

Youre probably right! That does fit with his rationale. 'Lets focus on everything but the facts of the case'.
And then it gives him more fuel when seeking for a change of venue.(In his mind, anyway). He'll probably present all the chatter online about what she was wearing as proof that she cant get a fair trial because all people want to talk about is her presentation . Ooooh, very, very sneaky, and sooooo Jose.

ITA Chilly! I thought her look wasn't "natural" for a young woman her age. And by "natural" I don't mean "without makeup". Her clothing and hair in bun looked "made up" and phony - like she was dressing up for a role, and seeing her that way worked against her IMO. If JB wants to present her in the best possible light, he should have her dress in a conservative, yet STYLISH way for a woman her age. The bun needs to go, and the suit jacket needs to be less boxy. Maybe they could even put her in a nice feminine cardigan sweater or something. KC just isn't the "suit" type, and DEFINITELY not the type of suit she wore today. That's my two cents anyway. Not that I'm trying to help her or JB out in any way! LOL.

ETA: I think the type of suit jacket she was dressed in today made her look even more "hard" and cold. IMO

MY thoughts exactly. It would benefit her to wear something age appropriate yet respectful. Perhaps a pastel colored cardigan with a tank top underneath, and with her hair in a softer more youthful looking style.

It's unfortunate yet true that her appearance in court will have an effect on the jury. Her cold harsh appearance today will only work against her. I have no problem with that, however if I were her attorney I would dress her to look softer and more vulnerable. The defense needs all the help they can get.

Don't take these discussions personally Coco. Society as a whole judges people on appearance. Its shallow and unfortunate but nontheless true. I think a jury will take her appearance into account so thats why we at WS feel the need to discuss it as well.

Funny. I was thinking powder blue or periwinkle cashmere, myself.

Regarding all the general talk about appearance - it's a biological thing and a lot deeper than most of us realize. Most of us will say it's "shallow" to judge someone by their cover, but it's what we humans do when we lack any other information about an unknown person. It's our way of catogorizing people and relating them to past experiences.

There's a great article online at psychologytoday, but I don't know whether or not I'm allowed to post a link here. It specifically talks about judging by appearance and really relates to this case because it uses a defendent as an example of how they appear (if they are attractive or not - and also how they are judged by the way they are dressed) and how a jury will relate to them. Make NO mistake -Dress DOES matter to a jury! Studies have been done proving this, and there's even a whole field related to this. I would love to post a link, but have to go read TOS to see if it's allowed here! I want you guys to read the article.

I like the way you said that Angel. And just so you know, Coco, I'm a real non-conformist on the subject of making presumptions based on appearance. Ironically, as an actress, I rely heavily on the use of wardrobe and body language to effect a character; in my personal life, I'm downright rebellious.

I think when they show the photos of how Caylee ended up at the hands of Casey...it won't matter how she is dressed. Put her in an outfit that is soft and fuzzy...they won't be looking at Casey. They will be looking at the evidence and at the photos of Caylee. Casey's dress code will come through with all her bar photos during that 31 crucial days. This is what will be with them as a jury.

Didn't read the whole thread and what she wears doesn't affect me one way or the other. Remember the wolf in little red riding hood.

It were her SMILES that really showed her true colors to me. I just couldn't believe the way she was smiling at everyone - when she smiled at her defense team when they came into the court room I could have puked - it reminded me of the smile someone portrays when you have shown up for their birthday party - "Oh, (smile, smile) I'm so glad you came. I'm so happy to see you," with a sparkle in her eyes!!!

How would a normal person UNJUSTLY ACCUSED of murdering her daughter act??? If it were me, I would have had to have had a puke bucket right beside me the whole time. I would be a zombie!!! Kill me now, I don't care. My daughter is dead and I'm being accused. Please just let me die in peace!

She's guilty as sin!
