So as far as we know there was no connection between Anita and the man arrested and bailed?

I agree that this has not had the coverage one might have anticipated.

Rest in peace and power Anita, my thoughts are with your loved ones.
There's not even been a photo of her released has there? (Apart from the cctv) it's quite unusual.

Yes, I was thinking the same. Very early in the morning, probably less likelihood of witnesses (although I don't recall there being many in that case either). I wonder if the woman arrested is connected with the man, or just happened along later and stole the phone and/or jacket?

Hmmm...

Julia's attacker seemed mentally unstable IMO.

While this attack
seems to be robbery motivated.

Police investigating the suspected murder of a woman who was found unconscious near a train line have released a new photograph of her.

Anita Rose, 57, took her springer spaniel for a walk in Brantham, Suffolk, at about 5am last Wednesday.

The mother of six was later taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries after being found by a member of the public at about 6.25am on a track off Rectory Lane.

She died on Sunday.

On Saturday, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

On the same day, a 37-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods "in connection with the incident", police said.

Both have been released on police bail until 25 October.

Police have appealed to train passengers who may have passed the place where a grandmother was assaulted on a dog walk, as an investigation continues into her murder.

[...]

She was found unconscious on footpath off Rectory Lane, between a train line and a sewage works, and a map has been released of the route she took from her home in Palfrey Heights.

[...]

In a press conference on Monday, Det Supt Mike Brown said: "We're keen to speak to anyone who saw anything on Wednesday [...] or anyone on trains travelling to Ipswich or Manningtree on that morning who saw anything they think might be of use to the investigation.

[...]

Ms Rose had left her house to take her springer spaniel named Bruce for a walk at around 5am on Wednesday, before being found on the track off Rectory Lane, with the dog unharmed.

[...]

Officers have found a missing iPhone, but are still searching for a pink zip-up jacket they believe she was wearing before the incident.

"Again I'm appealing for any information on the whereabouts of Anita's pink zip-up jacket which we believe she had on immediately prior to the incident," he said.

"This missing jacket is described as being made of waterproof material and is believed to be of an outdoor clothing brand, possibly Regatta."

"We know that Anita had left her house at approximately 5am to take her dog, a springer spaniel named Bruce, for a walk.

"At approximately 6.25am on Wednesday, a member of the public found Anita laying unconscious on a track near the water treatment works and a railway line off Rectory Lane and called an ambulance.

"Officers were then called by the East of England Ambulance Service shortly after 8am."

Officers have been able to locate and recover Anita's missing iPhone following appeals to trace it.

A tribute issued by Anita's family read: "Our mum was well known and loved in the community.

"She was brutally taken from us devastatingly too early, and we have been robbed of so much time with her.

"She wasn't just a mum of six, she was also a grandma to 13, a long-term partner, a mother-in-law and a special friend to so many.

"Someone somewhere must know something, and we urge them to come forward.

"We want to thank everyone for their love and support.

"All we ask is for everyone to cherish their time with their family and loved ones."

Final route dog walker, 57, took before she was 'murdered on path' revealed

This is just awful and hardly any coverage in the MSN.
What was his motive here … theft / SA ? and so early … had he been watching her and knew she would be there so early ?
As someone who takes long walks with my dog this fills me with utter horror and fear and my mind immediately went to poor Julia Jones.
I would have absolutely no way of protecting myself if anything ever happened to me and this worries me immensely.

That route is slightly over 3 miles, unless she kept a fast pace that would probably take a good hour, especially if stop/starting with a dog. So it probably didn't happen that long before she was found at 06:25.

The Ipswich/Colchester trains on that line started at 05:15, two an hour each direction, so hopefully the appeal to train passengers may yield something.

A third person has been arrested after a dog walker was killed.

Anita Rose, 57, had been walking close to Rectory Lane in Brantham, Suffolk before she was found unconscious on Wednesday, 24 July and died in hospital on Sunday.

Police confirmed a man in his 20s, from the village, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Another man, 45, was previously questioned on suspicion of murder while a woman, 37, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Brantham: Post-mortem unable to find dog walker's cause of death

A post-mortem examination of a woman who died following an attack has been unable to establish a cause of death.

Anita Rose, 57, was found with serious head injuries on a track near a railway line in Brantham, Suffolk, at 06:25 BST on Wednesday before she died in hospital on Sunday.

A Home Office post-mortem took place on Monday and further tests will now be carried out, police have said.

I might be misunderstanding this, but it sounds as if they don't think her head injuries were the cause of her death. What other interpretation of this could there be?

I’ll bet the assault contributed to death. Moo
