Good thought, STEADFAST -- and if that's what's cooking, we won't get another drop until someone is arrested & charged... tomorrow or next year -- who knoze??

like the haleigh cummings case...? oh please no...i hope not. moo

Just some notes from looking at facebook pages. The brother of the person reported as having the utilities in his name at the trailer next door to Jersey posts that he is living on A St. near EZ Mart. I wonder if he and his wife are the residents of the trailer. His wife posts that she's been to jail 8 times in 4 years. On Nov 16 he posts that he recently made a "huge mistake" and may have lost the wife. I wonder what his huge mistake was? What did his wife find out he was doing?

"There's no reason ... for the community to be worried at this point," Capt. Justin Thompson told The Associated Press on Friday. He would not say whether authorities think someone who knew the girl killed her."

This really disturbs me. I don't imagine this statement could be made, unless they felt they knew who killed Jersey. To state that the public need not worry is a huge disclosure, without stating the obvious. Am I wrong to assume this?
I hope that there's an update soon.

No, you're not wrong, London. LE would not say this type thing unless they were fairly confident that they had a strong suspect, and that he/she/they only had this particular child in mind, or that the suspect was personally involved, etc., etc. It's almost a "nod and a wink" coded message, and about the only thing they can say without being obvious. Otherwise, IMO, it would be their absolute duty "to protect and serve" by telling neighbors to be vigilant and lock their doors and not to allow their children to go unsupervised, etc, etc. Certainly LE would not want to start a panic in the neighborhood or town, but they would, again IMO, be putting more patrols in the neighborhood, meeting with neighborhood-watch groups, etc., etc.

Mmmmm, STEADFAST, that's troubling.... I hope LE knows as much about this as you have uncovered -- they should have more than that. So, one more sticky wicket for us to ponder... details, details -- the devil is in 'em, huh?

And who are the McCanns, please? (doh)

very interesting...wonder what it could be? and i still am shocked by the types of info that people put on a public facebook page...i know that sounds stupid, but really it shocks me...lol

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I hope, Sleuthers. Maybe a break. But not putting my money down...

And so to bed... :offtobed:

If little Jersey was found dead in the abandoned house, I am wondering how someone got her in there. Was the house unlocked or not boarded up? Or did someone break into the house to get in with her. Has LE ever announced a cause of death for the girl?
Was Jersey's sibling old enough to talk and tell if she heard or saw anything and to tell who was babysitting them that night? Did she share a room with Jersey? Where was she when the mom found Jersey missing? In all the pictures I saw, little Jersey looked clean, neat, well dressed, and her bangs were cut and her hair neatly combed. She looked so pretty and also happy. Maybe they were special occasion photos and not every day ones, I don't know, but at times it appears that she was cared for. Was her sibling well cared for? Was her home clean and tidy or a mess? Ever any abuse reported for the other sibling? Did the school ever notice any abuse or neglect of Jersey? One time in a kindergarten class, I saw a little boy with his mother. Everytime she moved near him or raised her hand a bit, the boy ducked and cringed and looked scared. It was obvious that he was abused and had been hit when his reflex was to duck every time his mom moved her hand near him. How did Jersey act near her mom? Did she seem relaxed, confident, and out going? Did she look to her mom for help and affection? Was she doing well in school? How did she act around her mom's recent boyfriend? Abused children often show red flags without even realizing it. They may even innocently say things in school or to other children that are red flags. Midnight seems late to put a 6 year old to bed but I realize that it was vacation time and not a school night. Were doors locked so the children couldn't wander out and someone couldn't walk in. I believe an article said no sign of forced entry. I have so many questions and there are so few answers. I just want to see this little girl get the justice she deserves after her life was so suddenly and brutally taken from her. Someone needs to pay for what they did to this little girl, and the person who killed her needs to be put where he/she can never hurt another child. I hope an arrest is coming soon and I hope it will be a strong case that will hold up in court. I don't want these child killers roaming the streets to hurt more children, nor do I want them to go unpunished for what they have done.

Sad.

I don't see any updates on the investigation.

On the Jersey Dianne Bridgeman -- Sharing Our Love facebook page, someone has commented that if Jersey hadn't turned David and Jana in, she'd be alive today. I think that's creepy no matter what she meant by it. She must know them, as she used their first names and mentioned someone who cries every day about Jersey's death. The comment appears on a picture of Jersey on her grandmother's lap with some other kids.

That is just disturbing! It's hardly like she was psychic and knew she'd be trading in one mistreatment for death. I can't stand when people blame the victims. Child victims carry no blame in my book. I guess it's a coping skill for that person?

Yes, it is disturbing. But like you said, it might be how some people cope with it. I got into an argument on a local news message board with someone who was either related to the father or a close friend of his. She was making excuses for him, claiming that both her father and step mother were great parents and they had their reasons for chaining her up. Made me so angry, I couldnt help but go off on her.

I don't think that comment was a case of a person blaming the victim. I think it was a reference to the person crying every day blaming herself.

The affidavit at the following link provides some context for the comment.

Jersey did not turn in David and Jana. The chaining abuse was reported by a different person. The affidavit in the article linked in my comment above provides the name of that person.

My interpretation of the comment is that person is blaming herself.

I get it now. Thanks! The person making the comment is the mother of the woman who turned Jersey's dad and stepmom in, so she's thinking that if Jersey was with her dad, she wouldn't be dead now. (Probably she'd have been dead sooner, imo.) But it does make her comment look much less creepy, but still shows, I think, a horrible misunderstanding of the evils of abuse.

Yeppers.

Loads of dysfunctions around this case, me thinks.

The group of friends (and a few relatives) of all of Jersey's parental figures includes a fairly high percentage of losers, druggies, petty criminals, persons whose custody has been revoked, and jail inmates. It's pretty depressing, really. Most of them proudly display pictures of children, professing their great love, when you know some if not many of these kids are being exposed to all the danger and neglect of being raised by drug abusers and outlaws. I'm sure they all think that they and their associates are the salt of the earth. Like I said, depressing.

The PP's post about how (HYPOTHESIS!) maybe the kids were left home alone & a neighbor was asked to keep an eye on the house sent off alarm bells in my head! That sounds entirely plausible! The kids could have been asleep already, mom ran out to wherever (EZ Mart?), and a neighbor or someone who overheard mom asking the neighbor to watch the house could have seized the opportunity to find young kids alone.
This would explain why the dogs apparently didn't freak out, as the perp would be somewhat familiar to them. It would also explain J maybe being quiet as she was taken from her room ("Shh, it's okay. It's me, (insert name here). Your mom asked me to watch you while she went out. Looks like you wet the bed/spilled some water/whatever, so let's get you changed/cleaned up/etc.") Ughhh, gives me shivers just typing it. :(
Just a theory, no links!
Justice for Jersey!

Yep, seems the only thing we do know is that daddy didn't do it. He is in jail. jmo

I wouldnt rule out the father having something to do with this. Its a stretch, but many times, people in prison can order crimes on the outside. Especially if they get involved with prison gangs.

I know its a stretch...lol. But I suppose anything is possible with this case.
