.@dgoins reporting Searcy police looking at 3 possible scenarios in what is now a criminal investigation . #FindMalik

Also, reading Nancy Grace will be covering Malik's case tonight (looking for confirmation)

I wonder which one of those scenarios is carrying the greatest weight with them at this time.

Although I *think* the mom has custody based on information from SM and other sources which we're not to consider as fact, MSM reports: "She [Tanya Drummond] said the boy was visiting his father and stepmother Sunday night," so I don't think the father has custody. http://www.baxterbulletin.com/story/news/local/2014/11/26/malik-drummond/19521659/

I'm also interested in how long he was there prior to 5:30.

I would still love to know when the last time anyone outside of the parents and girlfriend, saw little Malik.

Ohhhh

It was in the link we posted earlier today

"Nothing at all that would say this person is a suspect in the disappearance of Malik," says Hernandez.

Searcy Police did confirm today that cadaver dogs have been used throughout this investigation.

Malik's father's truck was searched by the dogs just as they continue this investigation in hopes of finding Malik."

Thanks so much - I skimmed right past it! I wonder if stepmom has a car and whether it was searched too...

The hinky meter needle continues to climb.

Because Malik's disappearance is now considered a criminal investigation and due to the time he reportedly went missing. . . here's a graph that indicates, in percentages, the time of day children under 6 years of age statistically become a victim to a violent crime. (murder, violent sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault.)

The numbers to the left are the percentages. Red indicates the time Malik was reported missing. Nonfamily members include strangers, friends, mere acquaintances and etc. **The majority of nonfamily members are known to the family.

Children who've been violently victimized from someone within their own family are almost twice that of a nonfamily member. Based on that, I personally find it interesting that one nonfamily member in Malik's life stated she considers herself family. He was last seen reportedly at 5:30, but I wonder if he was seen by anyone else before then, like before noon, after noon, etc.

I just spoke with a friend who lives there, she has been keeping her ear close to the ground, she does not believe he was kidnapped, evedently neither does LE , I would not think they would stop unless they were onto something, even with the temps being so cold last night. I have a sad feeling the outcome depends on how good the hiding place is. :(

Sad....

Hmmmm. Now did LE find or hear something that made them start looking for a murderer instead of a living but hungry, dirty, cold and scared little boy? There must be something concrete to make them change their mode of finding this child. I'm checking twitter now... Hmmmmm. Anybody know?

Sometimes I feel like we could just make a template for these kinds of cases and have a handy list of nouns and verbs to insert into the particulars, like a macabre version of "Mad Libs." Bed, yard, car, sleeping, eating, CPS, drugs, mother, father, sibling. Accident.

And a one size fits all FB page, full of recipes, happy pics, stupid slogans about love and family, and of course, angry words to all the "haters."

I'm hoping against hope but sadly I think Malik's case is going to slot right into such a template.

Oh, and I called the g/f "stepmom." I think they're not actually married so I'l refer to her as "g/f" unless I read differently. I think she said she just considered herself the stepmom. Might have been the same article where she announced that Malik was autistic - which apparently was only her personal diagnosis as he's never been tested.

Hink and more hink. I'm rooting for LE to lay waste to any and all lies associated with Malik's disappearance.

Wow, what a great link, thanks! The stats line up with what I've read elsewhere - it was helpful to see them in graph form.

And IMO your comments are right on the money.

Child victimization peaks at breakfast, lunch and dinner time.

It might be a good way to get info from the community without it being obvious who is talking to LE.

Per chance, maybe, if at that hour somebody may have seen a car pull over, or something like that, in that area that at that hour, just happen to go by there for some scheduled reason, I hazard to guess?

Hernandez said a very active investigation "under a much larger range of possibilities" has been kept separate from the round-the-clock search effort.

Yes, but just for the 0-5 age group. All of the age groups are different: 0-5, 6-11, 12-17, and 18+

The 0-5 age group is the only age group in which family offenders outweigh nonfamily offenders. Which makes since considering they are the non school age group and less likely to be away from family than any other group.

And they're mostly 100% dependent on parents for almost everything, food, water, etc. The older they get and can go to the fridge and feed themselves or go to the bathroom and wipe themselves , the less frustrating they can be for non patient or unskilled or angry or ""fillintheblank"" care givers.

Monday afternoon, Corporal Steve Hernandez told members of the media that volunteers are no longer needed in the search for Malik as investigators "cannot reasonably believe that the child is lost, or hiding waiting to be discovered anywhere near the area he could've traveled on his own."

Though police have not indicated it in the past, Hernandez told THV11 that Malik's disappearance has been under an active criminal investigation since the beginning of the search.

Alongside assistance from the FBI, the White County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas Game and Fish, and K9 Units, the search has included, but is not limited to all land areas in and around the city, buildings, dumpsters, vehicles, sewers, and bodies of water.

Hernandez said a very active investigation "under a much larger range of possibilities" has been kept separate from the round-the-clock search effort. In earlier reports, Hernandez revealed that lie-detectors had been used as a part of their investigation.

Wow! Awesome graph Aeronomy! Thanks so much for posting. This is a link I'm going to keep. I wish we would never need it again, but I'm well aware we will.
