Sloane Having similar issues server gateway time out errors ... etc.. reload errors ..etc ..

Sunny will dig into contacting the local LE in Durham and see if they can provide a picture of Helen sorry for the delay

Wonder if anyone thinks she could be Tara Calico who went missing September 20,1988 from new Mexico..

i think this one will be solved someday soon. there has been so many resolutions to old cases.

From what little I have read the Ancestry DNA type sites have set it up so that you can only test living people. IMO, they don't want their databases used for crime solving. If someone could find a way to get UID DNA to compare to the Ancestry DNA databases they could solve a lot more cases that way.

I feel bad I haven't put much work into this case in a while. I did some family tree work looking for Gail's grandmother and never found anyone and it just sort of fizzled out.
I need to look into it again but no time today. Just popping in to say, you all are making some great observations.

Ancestry DNA needs a saliva sample, they do not support raw data uploads.
I believe that LE or ME should be able to take the raw data from UNT (NamUs) to upload to genealogy databases. There are a few free ones, another GEDcom

I'm very new to doing family trees and DNA, we recently did ours with Ancestry. I was able to download my raw data, was going to upload to Family Tree (FTDNA) for $50 but they do not support Ancestry's type of file. Someone told me that I can upload it to GEDcom then take that raw data file to upload to FTDNA

With the doe formerly known as Lori Ruff, Colleen Fitzpatrick used the DNA from Loti/ Kim's daughter to put fresh samples in Ancestry to get the hit

This is pretty new technology. I think we're going to see more and more cases being solved this way. I just wish I knew if the UNT data could be uploaded to the genealogy databases. I had asked Colleen but she's been so busy since solving Kim's case.

Both of her parents have passed so not sure how to get those details. I'll contact the Durham police and try and find out if she's still an open case and if they have a pic on file.

* I can see the name of the PI in the news article but wasn't able to find contact details for him, if anyone can help me there I am happy to contact him too. I have contacted Durham PD.

I've not had a response to my email to officers Sembly and Campbell at Durham police. If anyone wishes to make a phone call to see if they can get the info then please feel free.

I should have already done this I will make a call next week, did some searching for the detective but did not find any information.
Undoubtedly I'm nothing but an amateur ... (lol)

So how can we get a photo of Darlene?
I meant the FB group for Southern High School Alumni in East Durham. Its a bit of a long shot, she may not have even attended there. Im only saying that because in the article, it mentioned her family's address (the street at least), and that seems like the closest high school. I was just thinking about how we might try to get a photo if there isnt one behind the paywall.
Yes, I looked too and no books on classmates between 1980 and 1983 - frustrating. Once folieadeuxnola gets the photo from the news article, I guess we will see if there is a similarity. or if the photo isn't there then maybe you could send a pic of EDJD to the admin of the FB group to see if anyone recognises her? I don't believe that's against TOS, I think you're just not allowed to contact families of victims/missing persons/UIDs?

Was going to reply to this the other day but ran out of time. She's a year older then me, would have graduated in 1982 unless she dropped out. As you said, no year books on classmates between 1980 and 1983; I managed to find 1979 but I have issues with my computer so can not pick thru it using zoom, perhaps someone else can find her, she would have been in 10th grade. If she is there, see if she looks similar enough to go further to find her senior photo. Carl contacted Francine Trimble's high school via email I believe to see if they had a year book on file that they could scan the photo. You can try contacting the FB page to see if they have an office secretary's email or you can call 919-560-3968. Can also inquire if she had any siblings or cousins.

I'm almost positive there is a WS member that's local but for the life of me can't recall who.

These are the pages I found, am not seeing a FB group for her class.

She needs entered in NamUs if someone has time. Will leave my notes - It says her 31st birthday would have been Thursday, which would be March 30th, born in 1964, missing since Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 24, 1983 says age 19.

She said she would only be gone a minute. When Helen Darlene Fuller drove off from her parents' house on Harvard Avenue on Thanksgiving Day 1983, it was for a short visit to her grandmother across town. She never made it there.
Joann and Tommy Fuller still are waiting, if not for their daughter's return, at least to know what became of her more than 11 years ago.
In the years after she disappeared, they seized on any lead that looked even remotely possible. Tommy Fuller drove to Tennessee and Florida, once even showing her picture at a nightclub where she was rumored to have worked.
People just said they were sorry and shook their heads.

A memorial service for Darlene Fuller will be held Tuesday her 31st birthday at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Hudson Funeral Home on South Miami Boulevard.
``It just may open up something,'' Joann Fuller said. ``I can't call it burying her. I just can't let her go and say she's not alive.''
Darlene Fuller attended Southern High School and seemed to have few problems growing up, until she ``fell in with the wrong crowd,'' Tommy Fuller said.
``She wanted to ride motorcycles,'' he said.
She was 5 feet 9 inches tall, with dark hair and blue eyes. A marriage ended after less than a year, then she moved to Florida. When she returned for that Thanksgiving visit, the 19 year old's appearance was a shock; she was about 30 pounds underweight. She arrived in Durham with 68 year old Phil ``Skip'' Parselli, whose family she was living with in Hollywood, Fla.

Ok, I've looked through the 1979 yearbook. There are two Fuller listed - a male in the senior class who could possibly have similarities to EJDJ, nothing striking but it's not like it's impossible. There is a female Freshman listed - not Helen Darlene - she doesn't look much at all like EJDJ.

So I guess Helen Darlene must have gone to a different high school that year.

Thank you so much Resolvr :loveyou: You are the best in providing some guidance here greatly appreciate it.

Have a question on NAMUS and matching DNA's I assume that the system is set where any possible match the system would kick out a hit, unsure if this done automatically or manually. As that I have seen where UID were pointed out or turned in against an MP in the system

SunnyNZ I'm only assuming you may be in New Zealand hope all is well for you the news here reported and earthquake and tsunami warning

Has anyone located a marriage record, the only report from the news has her maiden name I would believe she would have been carrying her last name unless it was annulled or she had it legally changed back to her maiden.

My opinion, contacting the school would be the best option. It's possible she wasn't there on picture day. The news article said she went there, it's possible they were wrong, but it's also possible they were right

If someone does contact the school, it's pretty easy to do. You say you're a missing person's advocate, Helen has been missing since Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 24, 1983, it was in the newspaper. The reason you're contacting them is to inquire if she did in fact go to school there like the news paper said. Explain her parents are deceased, you're looking for a photo of her to go into the National Missing and Unidentified Person's Database NamUs.

If emailing, be sure to attach the news articles

You're very welcome.
NamUs can only find what it can see. Just because it says the UP & MP have DNA, we don't know where it is stored. LE could have the results. Technically it should hit but there have been cases where it does not. Same goes for CODIS. It has to be at the level to be compared. I've seen this happen with one Jane Doe.

You're correct, and thank you. I am in the northern part of the North Island so we weren't affected but I do know a lot of people in Wellington which is one of the majorly affected places and it's certainly been a tough time for them. Thanks for your concern.

If I get a chance to do this later today I will email the school - thanks for the tips. I am due to go into labour any day now so if you don't hear back from me that's why!

* Ok I have emailed the high school to ask them for a pic. Will keep you posted.
