I heard they are going to be building a max security prison in Windsor, Ontario. Not sure when or if it's a definite. Might try and find out if it's going to happen for sure.

He won't be kept in Ontario if he is going to be tried in Quebec. They will keep him somehwere closeby to Montreal.

I respectfully disagree. I realize we don't know much about the accused killer but from what I've been reading about him, I don't think he exhibited symptoms of schizophrenia.

While I can agree with some of the similarities the blogger you referenced above provided... their examples are a little narrow and lean toward the imagined face of schizophrenia.

Psychosis can be present for brief periods or it can last indefinitely until it is brought under control. It can have periods of relatively benign symptoms to severe events much like the man on the bus.

People with untreated schizophrenia or who are bipolar don't all sit in the corner drooling, talking to aliens or unable to function. Some are even Nobel Laureates (John Nash).

I too have read extensively about LRM and aside from the personal information provided by 2-3 friends who spoke with the media... his LRM and sockpuppet posts reveal a great deal. They don't have to be all true, or all lies or even plagiarized to know he chose those words to express himself.

LRM may share some psychopathic traits (as do many of us here). I have little doubt his condition runs far deeper and is much more serious than a personality disorder... I do believe that comorbidity is highly probable.

Would anyone here feel differently about his life, crimes or punishment if he is a schizophrenic?

Would that make you feel differently about yourself and the emotions you have felt over this tragedy?

I've considered it. It much easier for us to demonize a mood disorder than a mental disease. The events that occurred are so horrific we cannot wrap our "sane" minds around how anyone who wasn't evil could do something like this. An evil person certainly could but so could a person with a mental illness and/or disease.

I know that it gives my logical mind peace because I can have a scientific rational basis for why this happened. It also makes me sad that it happened because mental health crisis are often ignored and the availability of treatment is limited or absent.

It'll be interesting to see if they go outside normal process for him. If they do, it would only be because they felt he's a potential threat to other passengers, but with two huge police officers escorting him (and believe me, I've seen what those guys look like) I don't think they have anything to worry about.

About the planes....

I would be pretty ticked off if I was on a flight and found out Eric Newman was being transferred on that same commercial flight. I don't know how he will be transferred (canoe would be fun!), but I doubt it would be commercial. Too many 'commoners' that would be angry and go to the media about it, I reckon.

i told this story on another thread a loooooooooong time ago....
but, i am close to someone who is with the USAF and he and one other person recently had to transport a convicted USAF officer who had been sexually molesting his own daughter for many years...sentenced to Miramar in SD....a completely different state then where he was stationed and convicted.....

they went via a commerical plane....Homeland Security, along with the airlines had to be notified in advance and arrangements made for air marshals to be on that plane specifically....they were escorted in (guy was in cuffs but they were hidden and they had no weapons on them)...escorted on the plane first (before all other passengers), sat in the very last row and escorted off last into a waiting car. passengers were never told of this.

this happens often and nobody ever knows it is happening....

however, the case i spoke of never even made the news (not sure how it was kept so hush) so nobody recognized the guy.....luka on the otherhand made the front page of every paper and tabloid world-wide.......so im wondering if he will be in some serious disguise....

I can't imagine that taxpayers would pay for a private plane for this guy ... taxpayers should protest if that happens.

I read something ... about a week ago ... something in connection with the UK reporter ... that it was filmed in the Dominican Republic or Panama ... something like that, but that it was uploaded to the net in the UK. It may have been speculative rather than reporting ... don't know. I don't think it matters too much. Until it can be determined where it was filmed, charges cannot be laid for "cruelty to animals".

Exactly. And I had read yesterday (darned if I can't find it now) that the Toronto Police gave the same reason - it was a jurisdictional issue.

The kitty killing was the beginning of a planned on-line bio for Luka kitty killers don't usually start in their mid 20s usually a teen thing. Someone recently posted to the effect "isn't it interesting that some many people had heard of this guy on the internet". Exactly, very interesting.

We might end up with a Chinese version of the internet, heavily censored.

We need to know 1. who managed all these on-line presences for Luka 2. where he travelled 3. who he might have killed and for who 4. who he slept with just kidding we won't find that out 5. what the purpose of the media manipulated element in this case is that should be easy it is emerging already the homophobia and now this.

I just wondered about *after* conviction. Not that it really matters where, as long as he is locked up.
On another note--I think I'm going through "news" withdrawal, regarding this case. Anybody else? After nearly 2 weeks of constant news, and amateur sleuthing on my part (my first time getting this involved), I feel strangely "in limbo".

Bill C-30 would create additional requirements for Internet service providers (ISPs) and expanded police powers. ISPs would be required to install surveillance equipment on their networks and keep records of what their customers are doing online and police would be allowed to obtain some of this information without any judicial oversight.

He's a garden variety murderer with nothing remarkable in his past and nothing remarkable in his future. I see no reason to give him any kind of special treatment ... other than being restricted to his seat throughout the flight ... maybe a catheter and a barf bag.

They are setting up something called internet 2, where Canadian ISPs will block certain websites deemed questionable by governement, and others that would be pay per view. There is a tiny little bit of my conspiracy side that is asking if Luka was a useful stooge to bring in internet censorship.

Of course I would feel differently if he was diagnosed with mental illness but I've also seen cases where mental illness was used an excuse to get away with murder.

Guy Turcotte who murdered his 2 children is one example. He now thinks he's rehabilitated and wants out. He hasn't even been institutionalized a year.

Another case is American one, Hemy Neuman who shot a man after the victim dropped off his children at daycare. He claimed he heard Barry Manilow (devil voice) and Olivia Newton John (angel voice) tell him to shoot the victim in cold blood. It was BS. Thank God the jury saw beyond the smokes & mirrors in that case.

I don't want the same thing happening with this case. He needs to pay for what he's done to Jun Lin behind prison bars!

I don't have a problem with internet censorship such that smut, *advertiser censored*, animal cruelty and other sub-surface internet use is no longer accessible in Canada. I also have no problem with having a block imposed on proxy servers and re-routed proxy servers like the onion router (TOR). In fact, I think it's a healthy move.
