This theory speculates that Robyn's death was not planned. What was planned was a sexual assault of the victim while in her drugged state of mind. This may have been done due to unwillingness on the victim's part to engage in certain sexual activities, or as part of some deluded fantasy to overpower the victim with drugs so he could have his way with her. There is some degree of evidence that the victim may not have been a completely willing party to all of Giordano's plans, such as her comment "This sucks" at 2 a.m. the night before her disappearance, made on RF's Facebook wall.
How difficult is it to obtain roofies in Aruba? Is it possible to track down a purchase of them? Another angle to check would be to find out from Robyn's friends if she carried a bottle of sleeping pills with her as a routine. I believe it will be discovered that she does not. Also, she didn't take the bottle of pills with her into the ocean, so where are they?
The statement by Giordano may have been his way of ensuring he is not implicated in her death in case her body is found and the drug is found in her system.
This makes sense-- I don't think he would have mentioned anything to police unless he was concerned or knew it would show up on a tox screen, since otherwise, saying that does make things sound more suspicious and he wouldn't want to add suspicion.
But since she (IMO) really
was under the influence of something and he knew it would show up on a tox, he had to bring it up but make it sound like it was her own action and in a natural context.
Also, I am aware of people using/abusing other similar drugs if rohypnol is NOT available, so I believe that even if it was not available in Aruba (and I would ASSUME no one would travel with something illegal or not prescribed to them due to screening and searches while traveling) it is still a valid theory. People can take otherwise legal drugs and misuse them in this way.
As the article states, things like xanax(alprazolam) etc. are legal and fairly commonly prescribed in the US (did GVG possibly have a prescription for any medications that could be used to drug someone else, I wonder??)
While a single dose of any benzodiazepine will not usually make someone lose consciousness, it can certainly cause amnesia and alcohol-type effects (dis-inhibition, etc.) and when actually combined with alcohol its effects can be much more severe (loss of consciousness, death, etc.)
Just something to think about... I agree the fact GVG brought up sleeping pills is important.
