Not sure if any of you ever saw this show/episode, but it's an excellent recap of the crimes and gives you a good feel for the environment, if you're fortunate enough to have never driven through.

M. Williams Phelps has an interesting take on the this case. He has come out openly and stated that he believes that there are two guys, one black and one white, driving around the country in a van and luring women to parties in motels with drugs and then strangling them. He also does not believe that the 2006 AC killer(s) is responsible for the bodies recently found in burlap up in Long Island.

I respect his opinion, even if I disagree with it. The fact that this latest victim (JV) apparently was posed by the killer certainly adds an interesting twist. Actually, I believe that it (the posing) is a sufficient enough of a breakthrough that it may get his attention and he'll want to re-visit the case again. Of course, that'll make the coppers cringe but maybe that's exactly what they need.

I have a suspect that I've been fixed on since 2003 and he looks better and better. He ticks EVERY box. He was also connected directly to at least two of the victims and still lives in Atlantic City. Now I just have to decide what to do with my information.

I have a person of interest, called them but the only thing we could offer would be something to pull the DNA off of and they told me that is too expensive to just test on every whim. I felt this same way back when I originally found out about the 2006 murders and more so now.

i used to pass the Golden Key Motel on my way to work everyday. This case always fascinated me right from the start when I saw the police on the scene the day they found the bodies. Later when they released details about the killings and the specific way the bodies had been lined up all facing the same direction, it immediately brought to mind something I had read several months earlier. I wanted to be a writer and would regularly check the weird crime section of the local news for inspiration. In February 2006 I read an article about the discovery of dead birds on a beach. They were decapitated and all left in a row all facing the same direction. This happened on the Black Horse Pike on a beach, about 3/4 of a mile away and across the street from where the girls were found.

These bird mutilations had been going on for months before the article was written and in all the time since the murders there haven't been any more bird mutilations to my knowledge. I believe that these were practice for a specific type of ritualistic killing and in late 2006 the killer finally escalated to human victims.

My Wife knew one of the Investigators working this case. The area where the Bodies were found is a pretty seedy area. There are a bunch of trashy motels around there, many now closed. I could see the perp having a connection to that area, using those motels for meetings with prostitutes, etc. I live about an hour and fifteen minutes from there, it's an area you pass thru to get to the casinos.

Have you or anyone else read Phelps's ebook "The Eastbound Strangler"? I'm thinking of reading it but would like to hear some reviews. I don't have a Nook, and will have to borrow hubby's if I read it. If his theory about the guys driving around the country luring then killing women is the bulk of the book, I think I'll pass.

There's been an arrest in Tara Rogers-Alicea's murder. Let's see if this has any relevance for Joyce Vanderhoff's murder, as well as the EBS victims. Here's to hoping.

I'd love to know if a connection has been made between TRA, JVH and the Eastbound Strangler victims. Seems everything's gone quiet since the arrest of Steven Stallworth, the suspect in Tara Rogers-Alicea's murder.

As you know I live in Middle East - I posted here earlier - and stopping short for fear of a racial debate, decided to contact this police dept right after that post - yes from out here! Asked no questions, simply provide insight into Muslim custom & burials to see if this might be worth looking into.

There's a reason the heads face east.

Also, Muslims bury the dead within 24 hours and usually close to one of the 5 prayer times throughout the day. They're also not "bound", per se - but wrapped in a humble shroud. Pics on TV covering the Iraq war, Lebanon crisis, Afghanistan, etc - show bodies wrapped, not bound, in these plain, bland, humble old cloths. The heads are turned to the east as they are laid on the ground, not before. Shoes come off before prayer, outside Mosques and bodies dont have them...

I mentioned gambling (Casinos), adultery & prostitution (plus drugs, alcohol) are strictly forbidden in (staunch) Islam. Some countries still give the death sentence for these offences. (Recall the plight of the Nigerian woman a few years ago that fell preg out of wedlock; sentenced to be stoned to death when her baby was weaned - well ... prime example).

haven't read the whole thread, but had to stop here and respond to this. In LISK thread, 4 woman were found wrapped in burlap. Could this be a ritual as well, like the heads facing east. You said they are wrapped not bound, so maybe a connection?

I was thinking about the name of the motel as well as a hint perhaps of a religious meaning and I found the reference to Gold and Key in Revelations.

One having to do with the after life and the other about penance for our sins. Revelations also about the end times, sort of fits as well as many feel we are in the end of days or end of time here according to some beliefs.

In Rev 20 there is also a reference to beheading. They were souls that appeared after death, they were beheaded for their belief in the Christ. Interesting if you look at this in a symbolic light.

Hands down TheForeigner------ Extensive, thorough, provocative work done by TF on her poi to show they could be tied to AC4, as well as a set of links on them to the area of Long Island, and easily makes for a strong case for their consideration ----IMHO, Daytona might be a far stretch being tied, especially since it was a .40 caliber used for the killings, not strangulation(although, maybe they changed m.o., doubtful though). (At one time I had a folder going that i nicknamed .40 cal killer, clever I know lol) The only hmm thing that jumps out is the ironic # of vics(4)-Also, there might be some different Daytona bodies yet to be found---For the AC4, there is another guy that was looked at (Muslim, so relates to the facing East thing) tied to at least one of the AC4 girls that allegedly matched the verbal description of another working girl out there(that's one of the reasons he was looked at), before the authorities then decided, nah, it looks more like ERB

The more I look for connections between Daytona, Atlantic and LI I am seeing a possible pattern for someone who works in the fishing industry as the possible perp. Here's why, although I have lot's more research ahead.

Three of the Daytona victims were killed during winter of '05-'06. The fourth victim was murdered almost 2 years to the date from the first three. I think these victims were most likely 'car dates' and were shot at the disposal site. LE mentioned he knew his way around because of the disposal sites. Does anyone know if there's a map of the disposal sites? I'd love to see one.

The AC victims were killed in the months of Oct- Nov 2006. There was supposedly a coastal storm during this time.

The LI victims were killed in Summer months. June, July and Sept 2007 (MBB, Mon. July 9th); 2009 (MB Sunday, July 12); 2010 (MW Sunday June 6) & ALC Thursday, 9/2) I think LI is home base for this killer. Sunday and Monday are slow days for the charter boat industry, the weekenders usually leave on Sunday morning. ALC was last seen on Thurs. before Labor day. The late season holiday-ers most likely didn't arrive until late Friday for a long weekend so the potential suspect may not have had any charters on Friday.

Does anyone besides me recall a pic of a young woman with a striking resemblence to ALC on a charter boat website? It would have been over 2 years ago.
I will check my folders and saved pm's but I would sure like to see that photo.

I live on the east coast and know a few things about commercial fishing. 1) Summer months are when the charter boat captains make their money locally.

2) Oct.-Nov. is when the season is winding down and the boats begin head south to FL during off season. They usually return sometime before Easter when the season begins again.

3) Many commercial captains navigate their boats via ICW and open waters, but will have a first mate or someone drive a vehicle down I-95 to their destination so they have land transportation upon arrival. (Some actually pull their boats on the interstate but IMO those are mostly certified captains,avid fishermen, private owners who dabble in charters in FL to pay for their vaca to supplement their income to continue their expensive obsesssion. (Salt water fishing is addictive, I'm not ashamed to admit.)

4) When storms are abrew the Captains seek safe harbor and wait it out.

5) There is no shortage of extra large coolers, ice and blood on a fishing boat.

6) Some captains even own a refrigerated truck to move their catch north/south quickly to sell to a wholesaler so it is fresh upon arrival. No lack of blood in those refrigerated fish trucks either.

7) Burlap is used in those refrigerated trucks. They hose burlap and cover crayfish from the gulf with it inside the truck to keep them fresh as they are still alive when transported. I assume it may be the same for other crustaceans like lobster, crabs etc but am not certain.

Anyway, these are just observations from an ole sea hag with friends and family in the fish industry so take it FWIW. The one factor in all three of these cases remains the same. All of these 3 clusters of 4 murdered prostitutes/women in high risk lifestyle/ drug users occured on the east coast near the Atlantic Ocean and the victimology is basically the same. JMO

i also think the majority of activity at marinas in the atlantic city area is pleasure boating, rather than commercial or charter fishing.

Thanks for chiming in with the info, da fino. I've been curious about the boating community in AC. The dates these women were last seen indicates more of a overnight fall gambling trip or something. Or someone who was there for a very short period of time. Sat. 10-7-06, Tues. 10-17-06, Wed. 11-15-06, Sun. 11-19-06

Perhaps a hired pleasure boat captain or first mate, cook, who knows.

Police said on Saturday a Charleston woman shot and killed a man she met on Backpage.com, a site often used to find escorts, after he attacked her. The woman, who was not charged in the death, allegedly used the man’s own gun to kill him after he beat and strangled her.

Charleston Police Lt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives, believes the man killed may have been involved in similar crimes before, based in part on items found in the man’s vehicle Monday.

“We’ve made progress today regarding his identity and gathering the evidence which may be related to crimes across the country,” he said.

In its investigation of this exclusive story, Eyewitness News obtained some disturbing pictures of what was found in Falls' Subaru that paint a clear picture of what he likely planned to do to the woman. There was a shovel, sledgehammer, bleach, a bulletproof vest, various knives, a machete, a shovel, axes and trash bags. In his pocket when he went into the intended victim's home, there were four sets of handcuffs and a 9 mm pistol.

Falls was shot and killed about 3 p.m. Saturday after he went to a home on Sixth Avenue to meet up with a woman he met on the website Backpage, where she had offered services as an escort.
