I work at a foster care/family support agency in another state and that quilt looks exactly like the quilts people donate to us all the time. Hopefully someone recognises it as their own work.

I really hope Families SA is going back over all their records to see if there are any children fitting this description that they had closed with or lost track of. I have a gut feeling that this child was known to child protection.

I really wonder why the person chose to discard of the suitcase in that manner. Why not bury it- even kiesha Abrahams parents managed to bury her. It just compounds the tragedy that not only was she so brutally killed but her remains were treated with such disdain.

I wonder how many families are known to Families SA? It must be such a challenging case for all involved.

I remember now, the first time I heard of forensic facial reconstruction was in 1990 when they reconstructed the face of a female body found in the blue mountains and her sister recognised her.
She had been unidentified for 14 years.

I've seen a few UK documentaries where they show the whole process from beginning to end. So fascinating.

Do they have the complete skull, including jawbone of this poor baby? [ I hate typing that]

I'd imagine that there would have to be 3D imaging software available these days that could enable scientists to scan a skull in particular, and then produce a likeness of the victim? Having said that, I've always been impressed when I've seen documentaries about scientists/artists who specialise in creating clay reconstructions - have we ever seen them used here in Australia?

I believe something was used for an unidentified murder victim who was found in the Belanglo (sp?) Forest (not thought to be one of the victims of Ivan Milat but maybe someone known or related to him). Found with her remains was a tshirt with "angel" written on it. I don't know how the reconstruction was done off the top of my head, just that there is a facial image of her.

Yes that was the one I posted about earlier. There's a bit more about her and other bones here.

"EXCLUSIVE: Inside the Bone Room: The hidden collection of human remains in Australia's busiest morgue still baffling police after decades... including three boxes from the forest where Ivan Milat murdered seven backpackers.

The Bone Room off Sydney's busiest roads has 250 sets of human remains
Hidden underground behind Australia's biggest morgue it is a little known secret skeleton room
State of the art technology is about to unlock old and painful mysteries in the unidentified skeletons
The bones come from all over NSW including three sets from Belanglo Forest, where serial killer Ivan Milat murdered seven backpackers
New equipment will match remains of murdered or missing persons to their mother's DNA
Over the next five years scientists may be able to give closure to grieving families

apologies if I am going over old ground but can I get your thoughts in regards to the manner of death?.... we have heard that the child suffered a horrible violent death. When a body has decomposed so much what could be so obvious for them to say that apart from bullet wound?

I have noticed a tendency for people (especially in my demographic or younger- I am mid-20s) to tag their friends on Police posts and say "was this you" or "what have you been up.to"... or even so far as directly implicating them in criminal activities like rape, or murder.... sometimes because they look similar or just because they are being stupid.... would be shocking if they were connected...

That bone room article is really interesting and really gives me hope that more people will be identified.
Fron Feb this year and says a specialist DNA lab opening in Sydney.
I imagine the other states would have something similar.

The cold case files — unsolved SA murders reopened

POLICE probes into many of South Australia’s longest running and most baffling murder cases have been reopened to take advantage of new forensic techniques and investigational strategies.

Many of the cases — some up to four decades old — are being subjected to comprehensive reviews which has resulted in new lines of inquiry while key exhibits in others are being subjected to fresh DNA testing in Adelaide and in overseas laboratories.

the time its taking for the results of the forensic testing is driving me bonkers

I know but have patience, we don't want the same mistakes we did with Azaria Chamberlain's case being foetal blood as opposed to sound deadening overspray in that Torana.

The belanglo angel has a thread on here :) I wondered myself if there was any connection. Young mother maybe to this girl? Probably not but just thoughts :)

My first impression when I saw the screen-grab of this was that it was a doll with white hair (something like a barbie doll or similar).

<Modsnip>

It would be interesting to know what was actually collected and put in the evidence bag in that footage.

I don't see doll? Could be wrong. Looks like a glove. Most little girls have dolls and a lot have blonde hair.

STOP!

There are to be no more posts or discussions of what someone may have posted on Facebook.

If it is from social media it is considered rumour and should stay on social media. A good rule of thumb is if it cannot be linked or is considered rumour it does not belong here. To date the only approved links to Facebook pages are those of police and approved MSM outlets.

Continuing to ignore the rules will result in the loss of posting privileges.

Thank you.

Hi everyone
New to this thread but have been following the news and have just read all 46 pages, I really hope this little girl gets her identity back soon. Everything about this is so sad. :(

Just also putting it out there in regards to the Dora top. It could've also been bought in Indonesia, as Bali is a popular destination for Australians and it's where they can purchase cheap clothes, DVDs, etc (Well, my extended family does lol). But really, it could've come from an op-shop, eBay or one of those pop up stalls in shopping centres. Anywhere. I'm just throwing another one into the mix
