Because taxi's were very scarce back in the late 90's, punters would often go out and socialise in their local area where they lived. Where there was better chance of getting a lift home, walking home, or doing a sneaky quick drive home after a few drinks. Not that i condone drink driving either.

Taxi ranks were useless, because punters knew it was easier to hail a cab up the street from the taxi rank (therefore 'jumping the line') than wait in the line, because taxi drivers back then would pick up a fare close to a taxi rank, without even going close to the taxi rank.

Exactly. you are thinking it through,,, couple of other interesting things from the era....mobile phones with cameras were not widely available and Club /Pub bouncers had no compunction about king hitting drunk and troublesome patrons because they knew if it was captured on the venues CCTV, management would simply erase it.
There was also a brief craze amongst the bouncers for applying the "sleeper hold " to patrons about to be ejected , until the Bar Managers mindful of litigation after the Greg Mathews " Hippy Club " Incident forbid its use. If you can get your arm around someones neck from behind you can render them unconscious in seconds using the sleeper hold. Yes from a seated position too.
The CSK fit right in to the routine of the Claremont Scene, he had an unassailable alibi if questioned because he was either at work, going home from, or going to work in those early hours.

What it doesn't say is where this woman was raped.

Ahh ... bouncers usually working as a second job many on cash. You suggesting he may have been moonlighting in the clubs? He has the size ....

That's a pretty big screwup by investigators if they didn't go down that track. They also, if the security industry is anything like it was down here particularly thru the 90's and l know them very very well, would have been stonewalled.

I find it interesting the current POI moved with his partner within 8 houses of his Huntingdale primary school.

With all the discussion of affluence, a Telecom worker was relatively well paid with a lifetime prospect of work without ever having to worry about updating a resume. 1995 was to change all that as it was announced Telstra was to be privatised.

He had a partner who was a lawyer. Between the two of them, on their income, they could have afforded a house anywhere. Houses in Mosman park were $80000.

His home in Acton st was not even mowed, but people in here found evidence of a lawnmower hire business. Some contradiction.
Was he the ultimate communist? Either way, very enterprising.

It was actually alleged that his ex-wife was a secretary in a legal firm, not a lawyer.

I believe (but may be wrong) that the lawnmowing hire business and also a movie hire business linked to the Acton Street address, were before BE’s time ie a previous owner. The old trade directory listings never seem to disappear.

Interestingly, BE’s rental unit in Osborne Park was also directly opposite a Primary School.

In Kewdale, he also chose opportunities to be close to primary aged children, through Little Athletics, even after his SD had ceased her participation.

Money must have been an issue in Huntingdale, as that is where the loan was taken out.

Im going to ask Spook R Us
and 7SJ707 if they were moonlighting as security in the clubs at the time. That if you were, l get it. If BRE was this opens up a whole new can of worms but a lot of time has passed. Please say something, ring the taskforce.

I'm sorry but ring the task force about what? Somebody guessing he may have worked security at Captain Stirling? Honestly, I'm sure they're busy enough collating real evidence. Now if a photo, old employment records or some kind of evidence that he'd assumed a fake name to work in security have come to light by all means call them with the evidence. The problem is not a shred of this exists. In the last week or so people have made cross dressing claims, said he was on steroids, linked the murders to football games and biscuit poisonings, said he might have had an STD. Need I go on? All without a shred of evidence. Just pure guesses. Please do the police a favour and spare them the waste of time.

No. If you read exactly what l said it has nothing to do with Crabstick's guess. I asked a question with a suggestion IF the answer is a yes. Stop it. Someone knows something, they always do. Why wouldnt it be someone who was bouncing in the clubs?

Yep, that's the words that I can make out.
If my copy of the paper is rare, it's for sale...!

The security industry was licenced at one stage due to the amount of security officers paid cash, causing grievous bodily harm and vanishing from the security team to avoid conviction.

Okay so if it wasn't crabsticks guess it was someone's guess that he could have been moonlighting as a bouncer. My point stands. There isn't any evidence of this. It's a guess.
Why wouldn't it be a bouncer? Well if we go down that road why not a teacher? Why not a road worker? Why not a male prostitute? Why not a retired suicide bomber? See I can guess as well. I might contact the task force!

That's right Crabstick and with the paying of under the table cash to avoid tax goes to creating that culture of silence. That and other things. <modsnip>
