Corryn Rayney took her last breaths at Kings Park, a renowned pollen expert has told Lloyd Rayney's murder trial.

Dr Lynne Milne, a Perth-based scientist who specialises in pollens and their forensic uses, was called by Mr Rayney's defence team to give evidence at his Supreme Court murder trial.

Dr Milne, whose expertise has assisted in solving homicide and rape cases, told the court pollen recovered from Mrs Rayney's nasal passages did not correlate with that found at the Rayney home.

No samples are definitive according to expert witnesses- Not paint, soil, DNA samples, scuff marks on boots. But let's not forget brick particles in bra and moss samples in seed pods...they weren't from Kings Park.
But now pollen samples have been introduced as final evidence by Defence to insinuate that Corryn was murdered in Kings Park! There are witnesses that heard screams that night and one witness who's testimony has been suppressed because of threats to his family. No idea what that was about but hope pertinent. Now we just sit back and wait and pray that justice will be done :please:

DETECTIVES offered to slash the jail time of a man accused of murder if he gave evidence that Lloyd Rayney sought his help to kill wife Corryn.

Johnny Montani claims he was offered a deal whereby he'd only serve two years in prison if he pleaded guilty to the murder of former bikie Kevin “Mick” Woodhouse and testify that Mr Rayney had asked for his assistance to “knock-off'” Corryn.

But Mr Montani rejected the deal, maintaining his innocence in the Woodhouse case and insisting his only dealings with Mr Rayney had been when the barrister had represented him in court in 2006, two years earlier.

Well this case is still in the news here while we await the judge's verdict on 1st November.

Thanks NADS I read the story about Montani too...after the 3rd trial in which he was acquitted apparently the case was not pursued any further by police???

Is this usual ? Is a case just suspended, closed or what after the prime suspect is acquitted and appeal processes exhausted?

I hope Corryn's murderer is convicted one day but doubt it will be soon and not through this trial.

I am posting a link for the latest information on this case - Justice Martin is due to hand down his verdict on Friday 2/11/2012.

To prevent prejudice, it was heard by a judge alone, Justice Brian Martin, who was brought in from interstate to preside over the trial.

He'll deliver his verdict and his reasons on November 1.

This is no surprise at all. The simple fact is there was no direct evidence that he did it. No one on this earth could find him guilty. Anyway there's 3 million dollars wasted on the court case plus 5 million dollars for the defamation case. Like usual, the real winners are the lawyers and judges.

I am gutted for Corryn. I still believe that LR was linked/involved in some way.

My apologies - I had it that it was going to be Friday for the verdict and was shocked today when a work colleague told me the result at lunchtime, as I really thought it was tomorrow.
I am not surprised, as having followed the trial, there just seemed to be too much speculation and little hard evidence, certainly not sufficient for a conviction. MOO

21 days for prosecutors to lodge an appeal! Not sure on what grounds an appeal would be valid?
However, Justice Martin believes Corryn was assaulted (rendered unconscious) at the family home. So he obviously accepted (some) of the physical evidence tying the crime to the family home. But no evidence to identify a sole assailant.

Hope this will not be another unsolved murder in Perth.

Thoughts and prayers to Corryn's family and friends

Ha ! Lloyd Rayney flanked by Johnny Montani and an other 'bouncer' when exiting the court. Corryn's family surrounded by police. What a contrast!
