Yes it s awful, but the same goes for the husband too who has has had people directly say on here that he is responsible.

The difference being one is around to prove themselves innocent or not, the other has been missing since sat/sun.

People can have an opinion based on what they observe, that's not smearing someone.

I am a little disappointed in Insp Seel's control of the investigation. And I never say that about the police. I usually support all of their actions, and hold them in the highest regard. But allowing that flier to be produced and have it attached to a VicPol video is in extremely poor taste.

There are 3 little children who do not need snide comments from schoolmates.

There is a missing woman who does not need ignorant public members thinking "oh well, she's an alcoholic, what do you expect" as some will do.

IF Elisa has illnesses such as depression and/or alcoholism, they do not need to be mentioned by name. Just the usual catch phrase of 'we are extremely concerned, as she requires her medication' is more than sufficient.

If Insp Seel is not checking these things before they are released, he should be. It is his investigation.

LAC? I’m going to keep Mum until I hear from a detective(s).

Can someone please link me to the flyer. I can't seem to open it .

However given there is no involvement from specialist police squads such as homicide or the suspicious missing persons unit ......

BBM ^^^^ I'm thinking that maybe there should be. Some specialised expertise may be required in this case. Enough of the surf coast police trying to run this case in its entirety.

Peter Seel is the Inspector of the Surf Coast Police Service Area which includes Colac, Lorne and Apollo Bay.

“The biggest challenge for us at the moment is assaults; not just assaults that are family violence-related,” Insp Seel said.
Insp Seel said burglaries were also a problem in Colac and district.

Search for Missing Marathon Mum Enters its fifth Day - The Australian

Thanks SarahJaneKate and welcome, you're a great sleuther! :)

There have been suggestions her marriage to husband David was in trouble, and A Current Affair understands she had been embroiled in family disputes about an inheritance.

Hmmm, opening up more if ACA are on the right track?

Other key points from your link, inkpink -

Missing Melbourne mother Elisa Curry closed down her Facebook account in the days before her disappearance, it has been revealed.

At 10.30pm, Ms Curry's phone is detected by a phone tower at the house.

Police have not ruled out suspicious circumstances in Mrs Curry's disappearance, but are also investigating the possibility she was lost or injured on a long run.

Strange as all get out... the flyer is brutal don’t you think?

I also thought the wording on this flyer was particularly unusual, so I took a screenshot and zoomed in, and it appears to be an internal memo for LE and possibly SES, but it was never intended for public display. It seems was shown erroneously on the video, and someone might be getting into trouble for that. It's completely unnecessary information for the general public to know, and doesn't help in finding her at all.

Local update: There are a lot of police in town now. Just saw around 15 in uniform checking in at the motel...police four wheel drives and mini bus and the big diver/search van are here too.

Thank you for your updates SuzSeg!

good on you, Potr... I tried to do the same thing, thinking she would have belonged to a club.. like. oh. say, the Box Hill Harriers, or something similar, ... AAF results, etc.. nothin, nothin.. I wonder if the marathon stuff is a bit of a family fantasy...

I didn't get the impression that she ran professionally, .. like in sponsored publicity runs, rather like the one's Tui , ( the lady who was in the bushfire while running a marathon ) was?...

yes..looked at lots of melbourne fund raiser type running events, but even complete hobbyists run the big events and it is all documented.

Yes I agree . Didn't mention smearing though. But until there is a suggestion that husband is involved then it's fair to say at this point he is too a victim.

You’re right it looks basic, not something I would have thought a govt agency would produce. If it’s internal use only I can see the point of rushing it out. In saying that do they put this type of information on internal flyers? I think we may all agree it makes not real point.

I wish they'd let go of the long run scenario....

taken part? that means, DNF.. but a report in the Australian isn't the same as a results sheet from the Australian Amateur Athletic Federation

Ok
I want to dispute the running in marathon things..I have looked and looked under all connotations of her name and can find nothing in regard to marathons, running or long distance running. While I am at it, it is REALLY weird to me that Vic Pol have made a little video about her..6 days after she is missing...the only other recent "missing person" video involves a cold cold case

In her FB & Pinterest pics she's wearing a running festival bib. What distance she did or when though, I don't know

When I first saw that flyer I didn't think it was meant to be for 'public eyes'. I agree someone will be in trouble for filming that or the Inspector for allowing it to go to YouTube.

It's a pretty deplorable thing to have been put out there especially given no medical issues have been reported.

If this is being orchestrated by someone to make it look like she has self harmed then they are doing one hell of a job!

it sows mistrust amid the public, the public her husband, and the police are relying on to assist them in their onerous task of finding a missing woman, who was first put about as a smart , savvy, chippy stay at home mum economic advisor marathon runner, .....

Then to morph into a depressed alcoholic runaway was a bit of a leap of perspective resulting in a hell of a lot of cognitive dissonance.

Its definitely an internal police flyer, definitely not intended for public display. It's a typical KALOF (Keep A Look Out For). And KALOF's will often contain sensitive information regarding the persons medical/mental health/history (and criminal history if there is any), such as if they have any medical conditions, what those are, if they have a history or self harm, etc. So putting this info on this KALOF isn't unusual, but making this flyer public IS unusual and very insensitive. Which is why I'm assuming it was done in error.

A KALOF will also include regular things like a physical description, and anything else useful such as a vehicle the person might be travelling in, where they were last seen, if they have an accent, walk with a limp, or anything else that might be pertinent to how/why they might be missing, and where they might be, so on and so forth. Might be of interest for future reference :)

The husband didn't seem at all like the Gerard Baden clay, John sharpe interviews . He came across as sad and genuine IMO.
