I thought this was okay as it is the FB page of a MSM outlet? Or is it actually quoting from the comments?

it's ok.. channel 9 is a major news source.. I never fail to be surprised what people put up on facebook,!!

some forums allow face book stuff and this particular forum, re Elisa Curry has allowed face book straight copy and paste already, a few pages back from a private facebook entry. .. it is still standing. I have been on forums in WS where all that stuff was rigorously enforced, for hundreds of pages, but not so this one... so far..

I'll just leave them off. Don't want to cause probs. Boy, this case has me feeling pretty sad for Elisa. It seems like her life was not super happy..

Although I posted about a Facebook post with a general rundown of its content and it was promptly modsnipped!

how do you know those outfits have not been called in? .. . It isn't the habit of any Police Org in Au to advertise whom is called in and who isn't. so I wonder, how do you know this?....
Most of the time it will be publicly declared as soon as a case is handed to the homicide squad or missing persons squad. They may occasionally keep this information to themselves for operational reasons, but not often. They don't necessarily make a big, special declaration, but the information will be public and it will be mentioned in news reports etc, as a part of the news report, rather than as a special news report. I'm sure you can recall many a news report where, typically at the end of the report, the journo says, "the case is now being handled by the homicide squad"? Or perhaps when the report comes on the news, "homicide investigators have been called in after a body was found in Cheltenham today" for example.

ETA: I have seen this rule now so will go back and remove the comments I had quoted, sorry:

  • ***NOTE: Comments and posts by readers/visitors of these pages are not allowed to be quoted, copied or referenced. Just don’t mention them.

Hi mdcmdc, I believe we can link to msn FB page but not refer directly to visitor comments on that page.

Oops! I've done this too! I will be good from now on, I promise :)

it is rarely publicly declared.. often, the actual Task Force name isn't even publicized until trial time. . .. it is entirely up to newspapers to publish that kind of info, if indeed, they have it. If told not to publish, it doesn't get published.. As a tactic, keeping quiet about a particular Task Force designated for a suspected crime is standard...

I wouldn't take the absence of a headline about a particular squad taking over an investigation as ipso facto settled that nothing is happening. Not at all. .. the fact that there is , without doubt, a missing person, upon whom a massive search for was undertaken, and is still being undertook, absolutely no evidence of suicide, OR murder, OR accident, and that the present Commander has exhausted all efforts, it is highly likely, more than not, that a particular Task Force has been set up, than it is that one has not.

later newspaper reports fail to mention the absence of a specialist investigatory unit ... ...

Absence of Evidence isn't evidence of absence... .

Inspector Seel, a policeman for 29 years, is a former homicide detective who investigated the murders of police officers Gary Silk and Rodney Miller.
He has never had a missing persons case like this.

"It could be suspicious circumstances. At this stage there's no evidence to suggest that but [we can't rule it out] and the local detectives are definitely looking into that side of things."

No evidence. I wonder...

I know i'm nitpicking, but I'm wondering why Elisa is referred to in this article as "Ms Curry" and not
"Mrs"? Do some people marry, take their partners surname, but still prefer the title Ms? Just curious.
Yes. I've been married almost 30 years and always been Ms. Many women of a certain age use it... it's a statement that it shouldn't matter whether I am married or not in my professional life or to anyone dealing with me in business. It only arrived on the scene in the 70s and many women use it as a compromise to retain self-identity in the work world while still taking husband's name once married.

Gloria Steinam[emoji654]️ Ms. magazine...she told us we didn't have to be our husband's wives only out in the world... our marital status didn't define us.

massive, and I wonder if the Commander said that to back off from any questioning.. mentioning the coroner has that effect... ( the coroner 's office is above the police , judicially speaking ) ... I was a bit gobsmacked by that remark, and I still think it has to be an error. .. there just isn't enough there to validate such speed.

no body
no note
no prior attempts ( as far as is known )
tardy information re alcohol.
small children, ( 3) left behind.
enormous expensive sudden search, from the moment of husbands call in.
missing phone
the dog. ( this darn dog has something to do with it, I don't know what )
top percent of Melbourne real estate involved. ( this is significant, too )
absolutely no skerrick of evidence either to suicide, or murder, or accident.
in other words ,the absolute absence of any evidence whatsoever in regard to any of those scenario's..

all or any one of those things would set the coroner back weeks, if not months..

None that has been released to MSM...

Should I assume you mean , in relation to 'none that have been released to MSM ' as referring to '

no prior attempts ( as far as is known ) ' ( in regard to previous unsuccessful suicide attempts)

or??... something else on the list?.. or?..

oh no! so according to google maps thats about 1hr 40 min walk from aireys inlet if its elisa, less if jogging, also depending on currents too

in the direct opposite direction to where the search was done.. this is north of Aireys inlet and the search was directed south to Lorne.... .

if it is her... terrible.. whoever it is..

Elisa’s name is mentioned in all the articles so far. I think it’s fair to say that although they need to officially confirm the identity that there’s sufficient evidence to say it’s her.

Sending much love and healing to her family.
