Been awhile since I posted, been busy with other cases. Anyway, I have always suspected that these two former police officers were in this up to their eyeballs. Glad to see that bail was denied for both.
:happydance:
One thing I can't get past, though. How did these perps not realize that their every move was being videotaped? You'd think they would have been aware of the cameras. :dunno:

The actions of two former detectives accused of the murder of student Jamie Gao have been described as "brazen" and "matter of fact".
In opposing bail, the prosecution told the court McNamara intended to kill, and that's why he took the empty surfboard bag with him and had his boat ready. It's alleged it was part of a plan to steal the drugs, worth $3 million.

Rogerson refused bail at Sydney court

Former NSW detective and accused murderer Roger Rogerson has been refused bail despite offering 1.5 million dollars as security.

Appearing via audio visual link from the maximum security Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre, Rogerson didn't react when the decision was handed down at Central Local Court.

Former detective and accused murderer Roger Rogerson has been denied bail, with a magistrate finding on Monday there is an unacceptable risk that he will either flee or commit another offence.

He said that this risk, and the risk that Mr Rogerson would commit a crime, such as attempting to interfere with the administration of justice, could not be ameliorated by any bail conditions he might impose.

This was despite the fact that Mr Rogerson had offered to report to police twice a day, to only use a mobile phone provided by police, and to submit to electronic monitoring.
While on remand, Mr Rogerson allegedly told his wife in a phone conversation that he had simply gone into the unit to provide "some old fatherly advice".

DISGRACED detective Roger Rogerson claims he entered the storage unit where drug dealer Jamie Gao was shot dead merely to dispense “fatherly advice”, a court has heard.

In the recorded conversations, captured after Rogerson had been behind bars for a few weeks, he tells his wife that he believed McNamara and Gao had been in the storage unit for more than 10 minutes when he entered and he thought his friend may be having troubles with the young drug dealer.

Two dead, one missing: police check for criminal underworld links

Police are investigating possible links between slain drug dealer Jamie Gao, a missing Sydney father and a high roller shot dead outside a McDonald's in Sydney's inner west.

It is believed the three men may have been associating with the same criminal underworld figures in the lead-up to their deaths and disappearance this year.

"We believe they may have been associating with the same people and we are exploring the links," police said.

Former detective Roger Rogerson may launch another bid for release on bail ahead of his committal and trial for the murder of Sydney student Jamie Gao.

As Mr Rogerson made a brief appearance via video link in Central Local Court on Tuesday, his barrister George Thomas said the 73-year-old was "anxious" to receive the full brief of evidence against him as he was considering a second bail application.

"We're anxious to have the whole of the brief served - it's been five months waiting," Mr Thomas said in reference to the five months Mr Rogerson has spent in custody since his arrest over Mr Gao's murder in May.

What is your prediction that there might not be enough evidence about Rogerson being guilty of murder?

There seems to be enough evidence against Glen McNamara. But will he claim that Rogerson fired the gun or was present?

What are the chances that Rogerson would be given bail? I don't think so myself.

Was university student Jamie Gao shot with his own gun?

SLAIN university student Jamie Gao could have been killed by his own gun in a struggle with two former *detectives, a court heard.

Former decorated police officers Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara are accused of murdering the 20-year-old and stealing almost 3kg of the drug ice on May 20.

Mr Gao was allegedly shot twice in a storage unit at Padstow in Sydney’s southwest and his body, wrapped in a tarpaulin and shoved in a surfboard bag, then dumped in the ocean.

The Supreme Court, where McNamara, 55, made a bid for bail yesterday, heard a latex glove was found on Gao’s hand during autopsy.

Just take me to a trial, Roger Rogerson says

ACCUSED killers and former NSW detectives Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara have asked to go straight to trial over the murder of university student Jamie Gao, forgoing a committal hearing first.

The pair were charged after 20-year-old Gao was shot twice in the chest during an *alleged drug rip-off inside a storage facility at Padstow in May last year. They have waived a hearing in which the police evidence is tested to see if the court believes the case is strong enough to proceed.

Rogerson, 74, and McNamara, 55, will appear in Central Local Court on January 22, when they will ask for a date to appear before the Supreme Court so a trial date can be set.

By expediting the trial, a large amount of evidence is not being contested. Both have pleaded not guilty to murder and drug charges.
