Question- have any of the coworkers spoken to the media? Jmo, but I would think they would be asking for her return, telling about every aspect of that night. Is it possible that she had spoken to coworkers about home life and if something was bothering her, and they are keeping quiet to not tip anyone off. Same with brother's phone call. It went from reported 'worried' to not worried and checking on dad. Have LE been allowing someone to believe that she just vanished on the way home? Moo

Yeah her colleagues are the media - there was quite an extensive talk about it on one program I listened to on 774 ABC.

I have my own friends and regularly go out without my husband. Am usually home by 12 but only because I have small children who will wake me up in the morning.

Ringing late at night not unusual - her family is in Ireland, it is a good time to call them.

Her parents and brother live in Perth.

"bags of potential evidence" sounds suspicious, but what, in reality could that mean? Probably just removing laptops, paperwork, bank statements - looking for evidence of marital discord.

I think this would be fairly standard stuff, they want to rule out any motive that the husband might have to be angry at her, or that she might have planned on leaving.

How's that?

It is bad for hubby in that they have exhausted other leads at the moment, so the focus is on him.
It is good for hubby as it gives him a chance to clear his name if he is blameless.

Exactly! :rocker:

I sincerely hope you never have occasion to report a loved one missing. You will be severely disappointed in the under reaction.

The response you get is usually along the lines of "take two aspirin and call us next week".

You seriously think LE examine the homes of every missing spouse and take bags of evidence away?

Evidence of what? Married people argue? That doesn't need evidence.

Creating a case and pressing charges needs evidence.

In this instance, the woman was never at the house. The husband was, and he said she never got home.

So why would the house be examined at all? She never went near the house. Nothing occurred in the house...according to hubby anyway.

She was taken off the street, according to him. All evidence would be at the scene, not 700m away.

The reason they have taken evidence from the house is because they believe a crime was committed at the house.

The reason the Homicide detectives are involved is because they believe Jill is dead.

Or possibly cleanup at the house after the crime committed elsewhere.

IMO you want LE to eliminate you as a suspect ASAP. You want them there searching the house, cars, etc because as soon as that is done they will focus on who really took or hurt your spouse/family member. :cow:

Not sure possum, they havent exhausted all leads, I imagine they are ticking off each on as they go.

The focus is everywhere at the mo, not just him

I have stated this on other threads... and I am going to state it now again...

I feel the home of the missing person should be thoroughly searched at the very beginning of a case.. even as other LE are expanding the searches outward.

Valuable evidence may be gathered without chance of contamination if searches were handled initially this way.

Even if the missing's last whereabouts are not at the home, there is still DNA collection, obvious missing/added items, pix of all rooms, nooks and crannies that can be changed by normal daily living, return of perp, or family members who are potential POI's.

And... if this is SOP of LE... then no one can feel they are being descriminated against.

I am no expert at all.. but I can see cases that I am following would be concluded by now, potentially, had this style of searching been mandatory.

JMO and MOO

What you are saying is sooo true! When there is suspicion our boyz in blue always start from the INSIDE and work OUT. How many murders actually end up being the closest person.
What I'd like to know is:

How long have they been married?
Did she tell any of her workmates or besties of any problems?
Were they happily married? (In all MSM she has been referred to Ms Meagher and not Mrs Meagher)may be irrelevent...
Where is her wallet?

If her handbag was placed perfectly upright back in the laneway I doubt the perps would go back to around the scene and risk that, OR did she make it home (tipsy) and hubby was furious/jealous? Did the neighbours hear anything? Did she have her keys to get back inside or did hubby not wake up or not let her in?

Again start from the inside and also work outwards....there's something not sitting right. I've seen too many loving husbands pleading in tears, attending the funerals surrounded & supported by the deceaced's broken family, only to be charged later.

Girls please don't take any risks when you're vulnerable, a safe cab ride is less than a couple of drinks.

Cabs in Melbourne refuse to take people when its a short trip, under $10 trip and they don't want to know. 700metres would be well under $10.

Exactly, and thats my argument, give the guy a break, no one on here has single shred of evidence to pin this guy, apart from the fact he twitched when he should have blinked.

Sleuthing is one thing, guessing is another.

If hes involved, we'll know in due course with evidence.
Exactly... and so far noone has been named as a person of interest though I did read last night that police have issed a warning for people to be careful when out there at night alone.

Police say the search of the home is a routine part of the investigation.

This is the story of my life. We have even been refused a trip for what would be a $30 fare before. We have now taken to lying about where we want to go to secure a cab and 'changing' our mind halfway through.

Are you allowed to post the twitter link? I'd like to follow to keep updated.

I have the Twitter feed running on an iPad, not this computer.

But if you have Twitter, just do a search for "Jill Meagher" without the quotes, and you should get the stream live. I didn't even use the hashtag of #jillmeagher, as it is a very limited feed.

The scrolling search results for "Jill Meagher' are constant.
