Can I get a copy of a grant of probate?

A copy of a grant can be obtained in the same way that a copy of a will is requested, but you will also need to indicate if you are an executor or a beneficiary.

A copy of the grant which includes the Court's seal is called an exemplification. Two types are issued:

1. Details of the grant and any will relating to it - this is available to any person.

2. Details of the grant, any will relating to it and the inventory of the deceased's assets that was filed with the application for the grant - unless the death occurred prior to 1 January 1920. This option is only available to executors, beneficiaries or any person(s) authorised in writing to act on behalf of such a person.

I am not questioning you Amee.
I was just wondering can anyone really just pay $24.50 and get anyone's will they like.....wow.

It is reasonable to think that whole R family is under surveillance, it must be be taking its toll on them knowing everything you say and do it known to cops and analyzed.

I feel sorry for family members who are not involved in KR's death

Here in SA you can. Other States maybe different. Yes I paid $24.50 for a copy. I was quite shocked I could do it. Im not a beneficiary.

Yes. But a male (presumably male jewellery, but maybe not, if he had his mother's jewellery). Karen had a brother.

I have my mother's jewellery. But I don't have my father's. One of my brothers has that.

That is why I question the value of the jewellery. It could have been significant.

Yes you're right, i was thinking KR receiving her mother's jewellery, but definitely her brother probably would of received his dad's. Not sure what any of this has to do with anything though, :)

It is like metadata, the police/govt agencies only use it to prevent or apprehend unlawful doings.

So if a person isn't doing anything wrong, why would murder investigation surveillance bother them? It is intended for a good and lawful outcome.

If the police know anything by now about who did what to Karen, they would only be focused on certain person/s by now i would think? I really don't know if they keep a surveillance 24/7, but if innocent why would you care? IMO. It would be pretty boring just watching an innocent person going about their daily life. We all do that.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Karen got ALL of her father's jewellery.

Maybe she did not want to cash in any of her father's jewellery, or part with any remaining part of her inheritance, to assist a cash-strapped family.

Combine that with Karen not wishing to reduce her stock any further than the current 50% off sale prices. Could have led to an overly frustrating situation for someone else.

Oh yeah good point SouthAussie. You mean like pawning it?

Yes and these certain persons could include several people, br, vr, sr... Police knows they have to discuss KR at some point and that convo would be interesting.
Innocent husband who just lost his wife would be banging his head against the wall trying to figure out who did it and why, so topic of KR would be discussed all the time.
Maybe there is one killer but you possibly have whole family covering up and not telling what they know, which is crime in itself?

Looks like they have similar laws in Victoria as we have in SA.

Karen's father's will was granted (okayed) by probate in Vic on 6/5/15 - I did some independent research, with assistance from a WS whizz.

Once it is granted, it seems that anyone can get a copy, upon payment of a fee. The records are help at the Public Record Office Victoria.

Once the Court has granted probate or administration, copies of grants, wills and other records can be requested on payment of the appropriate fee. Records are only available if a grant has been issued.

You know, I was thinking about that account set up for Sarah ... with a goal of $5,000. The person who set it up (I believe it is Karen's good friend) really did everyone a big favour.

By setting that up, she has really confirmed - to me, at least - that Borce does not have money to assist his daughter "to help Sarah Ristevski through this difficult time and help her rebuild her future and education".

Or perhaps she's no longer willing to accept his financial support . . . despite appearances.

If she is still living under his roof, she is accepting his support. imo
And if she is still not speaking with police, she is still supporting him, too.
She has maternal family to live with, I'm sure, if she chose to do so - and chose to cooperate with police.

I do think she is in a tough position, though. Any way you look at it.

I have to disagree with that, I don't think the friend spoke to any family or had any approval to start the fund. I think she just started it thinking it was a good idea at the time.

I also don't think friends would be aware of the Ristevski's financial situation - you know keeping up appearances and all.

Confirmation that it was Karen was late on the 20th Feb, the fund was started on 21st Feb.

I think the thing that gets me, is that the fund has not been taken down. In the case of Sheila Von Wiese-Mack, murdered in Bali, a account was set up in poor taste - not for the murderers - as most crowd funding does not allow that. But it was soon taken down by the person who set it up. Within a week, I believe. And it had nowhere near achieved the fund goal.

So I wonder why Sarah has not requested that Karen's good friend take it down, if the money is flowing okay, and she wants to stay out of the limelight. Unless she doesn't want to insult the good intentions, or something.

She may not even know about it.
