Hypothetically speaking! What if someone cuts off a part of a body when murdered! Lets say part of the hand may be??
What's your views on that?

Isn't cutting off the hand in some cultures the punishment for theft? Don't know if there is a difference in meaning for left or right.

And Welcome Imaright :seeya:

If a left hand was removed from a victim, that would quickly remove an engagement ring, wedding ring, bracelets ... if such things were worn by a person. It would also take longer to do such a barbaric thing than just random slashing and stabbing - unless a weapon was something like a machete.

And if a person's 'belongings' were taken, it could account for something like a bag being carried close to the person when they hurried away from a place of attack. With nothing apparently missing from the household.

No gone very quiet! But don't sound the same do they? Or maybe knew too much??

Yes would of been very messy!!! Unless planned and had time to change clothes and carry that under arm! Thanks nice to be aboard :)

I was thinking that same thing...

that some culture(s) have traditional punishments involving mutilation..

but I am not well, versed in this area...

Police have never mentioned if a weapon was used in Kylie's murder. But Herald Sun articles certainly indicated a lot of blood, and possible multiple knife wounds.

"I ran over there and when I went inside I saw her just sitting there on the lounge like she was watching TV. I stayed with her and kept rubbing her leg and telling her she'd be all right and that the ambulance was on its way. But there was so much blood. She was already gone.''

It's thought she suffered multiple injuries, including to her hands and face, believed to be from a knife.

Police have not confirmed publicly if a weapon was used to attack Mrs Blackwood. And if one was used, as thought, whether the killer brought a knife with them or took one from the house. It's just one of so many questions which haunt the community.

I wish the girls had waited at school or out-of-school-hours care for a ride or contact from a family member. I don't know that it was thought they would wander home and find their mum like that. :(

I agree....

Losing a mum at such a young age would be so traumatic for children... But to witness the aftermath of such a brutal murder will be so difficult to get through without a great deal of love and support from family and friends...

Kids shouldn't see things like that such a shame, but i suppose who ever did it was that vicious they didn't care about kids seeing it a job to do maybe?

It would sure be helpful to have LE present a presser soon to share any updates they have about Kylie's murder..

Thank You for putting this here. Do you know how old the remains are?

Assuming that the murderer is the person who cased Kylie's house, then returned minutes later after Kylie got home from shopping (then killed her), I think the intentions were pretty specific.

They didn't drive there (no vehicle to be traced/identified), they made an effort to disguise themselves, they didn't steal anything, they went during a period when Kylie was likely to be home and alone. They went to the home, looked inside (Kylie's not there), came back 10-15mins later when Kylie returned home (perhaps made a phone call? perhaps then waited nearby to see Kylie drive past on her way home?), then left 20 mins later (does that mean they were there for 5mins or 20mins? 20mins is a long time for a quick hit). Why didn't they just move on to a different house and enter that

"The Herald Sun has been told the man returned 10 to 15 minutes later, when Ms Blackwood had come home from a shopping trip and left the garage door open.
The tradesman has told police he saw the suspect "hurriedly" walking away about 20 minutes later."

Did Kylie typically leave the garage door open during the day between school dropoffs? Did the killer know Kylie wouldn't be working that day? She only worked a couple of days each week .. were they the same days each week, or did they vary? Would Kylie normally have gone to pick the girls up, but didn't that day so they (unexpectedly) wandered home? Many articles say how impeccably dressed/groomed Kylie was when she was seen at the school. And Peter arrived home with the son 'shortly after' the girls discovered Kylie. Did Kylie typically drop off/collect the girls, and Peter dropped off/collected the son?

I must say, I am glad the non-local Homicide squad is investigating this crime, and not just the local police .. of whom one is also the Mayor! Small community, an everybody-knows-everybody situation, sometimes the hardest situation in which to pin down a murderer IMO.
Great questions SouthAussie . If only there was a motive.

I have a feeling that Kylie's murder was a 'job', too. I just can't think why a person would sort of 'hang around' and wait for her to come home if it didn't have some intentional element to it.

If the killer just wanted to wreak havoc on someone's life, why wouldn't they just move on to the next house when Kylie wasn't home when they first stopped by?

It is not like they saw something specific through the window that they wanted from THAT house .. they didn't steal anything from the house apparently.

(This is still assuming that the person sighted by the tradesman is the killer).

<modsnip>

<modsnip>I found my husband dead 18 months ago. It was expected but maybe not so soon. I was a nurse and had
Worked in aged care so death was not new to me. But in two months I lost 17kg and I would also say I aged. I still haven't recovered.

Once Homicide can work out the motive, they'll be just mere steps away from arresting the murderer IMO.

(Sorry to hear of your loss Marg from Oz  )

Was the autopsy ever released? Not much details given about the attack at first then it went to the description of a very bloody scene. Now hypothetical left hand and thumb severed. There seems to be much more to this story. It was reported nothing stolen. So I would dismiss the hypothetical of severing the hand to take jewellery. This is just my opinion.

I wouldn't read anything into that other than shock and grieving . I found my husband dead 18 months ago. It was expected but maybe not so soon. I was a nurse and had

:grouphug: Marg... I am sorry about the loss of your husband...:grouphug:

I'm pretty uncomfortable, too, with the lack of anyone calling for the murderer to be exposed. I'm so accustomed to families of murder victims appealing for public assistance in the capture of the perp. Tom Meagher ... Shandee Blackburn's mum ... Robert Martinez's mum ... even Tamika Webber calling for public help in finding Shey's attacker. No-one seems to be speaking out for help to find Kylie's murderer. Sort of reminds me of Gerard Baden Clay ...

I guess everyone handles their grief differently. Some people want to forget the incident, even though they 'don't want the pain to go away completely'.

Hey Marg - I'm so sorry to hear about your hubby. Please do take good care of yourself.

SA - funny you should mention silence like that.. "We don't know why. We may never know why"..

The general 'silence' (Ie, complete lack of info, lack of appeals) is strange, and now I'm freaked out about missing hands..

Imaright - please do stick around, and welcome to the forum.

If you are a local, just let one of our moderators know. That way, we can all be sure you are one, and that'd be awesome. :)

As for the hand - South Aussie pretty much covered all the bases there. I'd have to know just a few more details to be able to give my reply as to what that means. Too many variables, otherwise.
