I am sure Mr Smith would be on to this already. But I have asked myself that if I was Leisl and I was trying to hide then I wouldn't be taking part of a public event covered by media. Also, if I didn't want to be found I would hope that my Dad would understand that publically pointing out where I may be could potentially be dangerous for me? Just my opinion, and yes everyone deals with things differently.

That's very true. It's taken me less than 5 mins to find what I think is a good candidate for the event, so surely he could have done that for himself?

<modsnip>I have also been noticing over the weeks that the face book links have been silent ... well guess what they are ALIVE NOW ..... go look at 'Missing Leisl Smith' and ' Storm Smith' her Dad ................ all will explain (to me the cops slowed it down - the FB pages?) ......

Also read the way "J" was treated too!!!!:stormingmad:

I have read the post, which he also posted elsewhere. Very serious stuff.

Yes. Agree.

Also, what about the 'dog industry' issues too ... those telephone calls at 1.29am in the morning with threats?

Maybe .... just maybe this is not horse related, but, dog show related?

Maybe. :fence:

Anyway, we need to find Leisl (positively).

Just to update everyone ... I read a local paper (round Morisset way) ,, that the girl that Leisl's dad was hoping was her in the triathalon was from Mt Isa and NOT Leisl.

The 'strike force WEHL' said that. Well at least they did investigate/follow through that for the family.

How terrible for Leisl's family to have to deal with that as well.

There clearly is a need for officers trained specifically to liase with frustrated and upset relatives in these kinds of situations, who understand the psychological factors involved.

I suppose police have their reasons to withold information and crucial evidence, so as not to risk leaks which could compromise an investigation. However if they are without any doubt in the conclusions they arrive at, then surely they need to be able to approach upset relatives tactfully and in such a way which can ease the frustration of not knowing.

Police charged with giving out information, should approach the situation like doctors who have to deal with loved ones who don't want to believe there's nothing that can be done for a patient. A compassionate doctor accepts the frustrations for what they are and doesn't make it into a fight.

He just sounds like a man desperate and at his wits end. I think most of us would move heaven and earth to find our child if they were missing. I know the family of a missing person in my home town, a few hours north of where Leisl disappeared. Their 18 year old daughter has been missing for more than a decade now. The look in her fathers eyes is haunting.

I do feel for Leisl's family. Must be heartbreaking to not know where she is, alive or dead.

In saying that, it is important to remember that interpretations of what other people are saying (like the police) are seen through the eyes of grief. This can make a person extra sensitive. Also, whilst the police are managing multiple cases at any one time, the families of loved ones are solely focused on their missing family member. This can make them see the behaviour of others as insensitive, when in reality, they are just trying to juggle any number of demands at a given time.

I really don't know what is truth in the family's concerns about police actions, as I wasn't there, and all I've read so far is heresay from family members. However, I don't want to come across as insensitive myself. I hope they can continue to work productively with the police, and remember that the police are central to any progress on the case, and not make enemies of what really are allies.

I hope Leisl is found soon, and that all leads are followed up promptly by the police. Sending positive vibes to the family.

I don't know if his portrayal is accurate but from the outside they don't look like they've been on it. It took a month to find her car. Despite her bank accounts being untouched etc, the earliest news article from police is November, 3 months later. I think there should have been a big response within days.

Totally Agree!!

Just on our local radio station (sorry no link) - Police are currently searching property at Kangy Angy (as at the time reported) - in relation to the disappearance of Leisl Smith. Hopefully I can find more info.

Hi,
The properties that have been searched are all connected to the POI and if you visit Cyberhorse Forum there is information that some horse people have commented on. If it is still there.
Her X-boyfriend had also put up on FB that he could tell Leisl's Dad what the SMS's were about.
Seems like the authorities know what they are looking for and they aren't going to give up till they find it. I have faith in them! They are the only ones that have the power to search and bring out the Truth.

I.K
