Police warned a magistrate that Greg Anderson was capable of carrying out his threats to kill

Bail documents show police opposed Anderson’s bail applications in 2013 because they feared he would harm his son or ex-partner Rosie Batty.

Constable Paul Topham said in one of Anderson’s bail hearings: “Genuine concerns are held … by police as the accused appears more than capable of carrying out the threats to kill. The accused’s pattern of behaviour appears to be becoming more erratic and aggressive.”

In another bail hearing Constable Clinton Taylor said: “The victim (Ms Batty) in this matter is extremely concerned for the welfare of her son Luke. The victim … believes he (Anderson) is capable of carrying out previous threats to kill and harm.”

The revelations followed reports from friends and *family of Anderson’s tortured mind, describing an angry man who regularly smoked marijuana and resented his ex-partner for not allowing him to see their son.

Despite finding spirituality in recent months, Anderson would often brandish a knife and could not control his rages.

The housemates had felt sorry for the drifter after meeting him at a Hare Krishna temple and offered to be a bail address for him from an earlier police charge.

Anderson's parents were forced to call police on the Australia Day weekend when he threatened to kill one of them. Anderson’s parents said the events were “tragic”. Father Don Anderson said the devastated parents of GA had been in touch with Luke’s mother, Rosie.

There are many photos on this link too.

Yeah, this is -why- I am down on that magistrate, stuff protocol! If the -police- are telling you flat out that the man is a serious threat to his kid's life, the right thing to do is keep him where he cannot harm the child.

I am also familiar with how overwhelmed the system is, in that area. Very familiar, and also with how hands get tied. I just do not have sympathy for this particular magistrate who was well-informed by police as to the risks of that decision and made it anyway.

Ultimately, if the system is leading to dead kids, the system needs to take a good long hard look at itself. Starting with those magistrates who avoid rocking any boats by letting unquestionably violent, dangerous men out of prison before their due terms are served to the full.

By the sounds of it in this TV interview, it was quite recent that Rosie Batty was about to end or change the relationship...

TV- Interviewer: "And Did you live in hope that Greg would change ?"
Rosie Batty: "I knew he wouldn't. I thought to myself Okay I don't want another year like last year...
What am I going to change ?... I didn't have time. To work it out... Now, my life has changed... Forever"

Interesting Video Link about Domestic Violence:
"Leslie Morgan Steiner was in "crazy love" -- that is, madly in love with a man who routinely abused her and threatened her life. Steiner tells the dark story of her relationship, correcting misconceptions many people hold about victims of domestic violence, and explaining how we can all help break the silence. (Filmed at TEDxRainier.)" :

Studio 10, channel 10.

Rosie Battie came out swinging with high emotions against the ignorance of the male presenter's comments that the woman is to blame for not seeking refuge in domestic violence. Rosie said she did everything she could possibly do to prevent harm. The ultimate revenge was to kill Luke when he lost control of Rosie.

There is more back story to this. I actually had no idea that Victoria is introducing new laws that make it mandatory for every Victorian to report suspected child sex abuse or face three years jail for failure to do so. Rosy Batty's point was that women in abusive relationships are afraid to report child abuse because of what the abuser could do to them or their children.

But guess what?? Priests who hear about a child being abused through confession are exempt! :banghead::banghead::banghead: What was the point of the bloody inquiry? :banghead::banghead::banghead:

The amazing thing I noticed was Joe Hildebrand had no remorse whatsoever.
I saw this this morning & would have been surprised if it wasn't in the news. Rosie was hurt, offended and extremely sad for the murder of her little boy Luke.

Rosie Batty blasts Studio 10 host Joe Hildebrand on morning TV
Ms Batty was preparing to appear on the Channel 10 show and was listening through her headpiece when she heard the panel discussing the laws.
“I’m just horrified. I’m just absolutely horrified to hear this garbage. I don’t know whether I should say garbage. I’m just horrified,” she said after the on-air outburst.
“I thought with Luke’s death something would come out of this that would actually show the difficulty women have in abusive relationships.”
“Joe, your comments are so, so misguided,” Ms Batty said on the show. “If you minimise how it feels to feel unsafe, and when we’re talking about unsafe, we’re talking about the risk to our lives, we’re talking about when women finally may decide to leave their partners they have the most risks.
“Do you know what happened to me?” she asked. “Greg had finally lost control of me and the final act of control, which was the most hideous form of violence, was to kill my son. So don’t you ever think that if we don’t report it’s because we don’t want to. It’s because we are so scared about what might happen.

Rosie Batty: I never got to say goodbye

"I wasn't allowed to go near him because it was a crime scene," she says. "And that's when I did get a bit upset because I said, 'That's my little boy out there, all on his own', and they said, 'We're taking care of him, Rosie, it's okay'. That was my little boy out there. They said, 'Rosie, I don't think you'd want to see him.' "

How very sad. If Rosie wanted to be with her boy, she should have been allowed. Go Rosie, blast the police; blast Channel 10; blast whoever you need to. Out of this tragedy must come change. Rosie, you are not on your own in this.

Oh god my heart breaks for her.

The mandatory sexual abuse reporting thing is a hard one. Way too many mothers turn a blind eye, it doesn't only happen in cases where physical violence is an issue. There are certainly instances where a parent not reporting should be punished. And then there are other instances when to punish someone would be spending resources that could have helped them escape and attempt to be safe and to punish them would be kicking someone when they are already down. Oh well what is the answer, more open dialogue about all kinds of abuse, better sentences for offenders, more resources for victims, all of the stuff that costs money - and our government isn't going to pay, they are too busy making sure the forests get cut down, making laws that we can't organise boycotts and that their mates are sirs and dames.

Morcombes swamped with 10,000 emails and cries for help

TROUBLED, lost and grieving people across Australia are turning to Bruce and Denise Morcombe for advice.

And the Morcombes are answering the call, personally meeting some of those desperate for help.
Last night the couple talked to Australian soldiers who are battling to cope with the effects of being in a war zone or a disaster area.

A week earlier, Denise went to Mount Isa to lend an ear to the family of missing teenager Kyle Coleman.

Earlier in the month they were in Brisbane to be with a friend of brutally murdered French student Sophie Collombet.

Luke Batty's mother, Rosie, has sought the Morcombes' advice on how to set up a foundation to honour the memory of her son, who was killed by his father with a cricket bat in February.

Luke Batty's mother Rosie not told of decapitation threat made by father in weeks before 11yo's murder

Updated 5 hours 34 minutes ago

Police in Victoria failed to pass on a gruesome death threat which had been made by Luke Batty's father, just weeks before he killed the 11-year-old in front of families at a public cricket pitch.

Greg Anderson murdered Luke on February 12 this year with a cricket bat and a knife in the Victorian town of Tyabb.

Anderson was shot by police at the scene and later died in hospital.

At the time, Anderson was homeless after being arrested and removed from a share house in the outer Melbourne suburb of Chelsea Heights.

A housemate of Anderson's had also taken out an intervention order against him after he threatened to cut off the housemate's head.

A week after police removed Anderson from the Chelsea Heights house, an officer rang Luke's mother, Rosie Batty, looking for Anderson.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-20/luke-batty-inquest-to-examine-authorities-failings/5795056

An inquest into the death of Luke Batty, who was killed by his father at a cricket ground in the small Victorian town of Tyabb, begins today.

The coroner is expected to examine what authorities could have done differently to have prevented the 11-year-old's death.

Luke died after his 54-year-old father, Greg Anderson, used a cricket bat to beat him before stabbing the boy in February this year.

Greg Anderson had threatened son Luke Batty with knife

Ms Batty told a coronial inquest into her son Luke’s death today that she didn’t want to embarrass him.

“He was everything. I made every decision for him. Now I think I’m still trying to do it, but I can’t get him back,” she said.

“I never want anyone to be sitting where I’m sitting.”
