Oh but you do hear about them! But much of the popular media of this country choose to ignore them. It's not newsworthy. And then they come out asking why no Muslims denounce the extremists. They do denounce them - all the frickin time. Makes me so mad!

It's true and thanks to you and Ausgirl for bringing reason to this issue. A bit of research shows how many Muslim leaders and everyday Muslims (MILLIONS) denounce and march and protest horrors like this. But that does not get widely reported. This stuff does and even though I personally know several Muslims who are simply normal, cool people, it has been very hard for me not to become prejudiced. IMO, when immigrants march against the countries they inhabit and scream death to the police or whatever, and, perhaps due to my prejudice, even just populations who wear the Niqab, are total extremists and I worry terribly about them being in and allowed to remain in western nations they seem to hate and/or not respect.

I admit that I have become biased.

Have to log off soon....... thankful that 3 hostages escaped --- they can hopefully tell law enforcement how many perps and if they have more than just the weapons they started out with. (like bombs,grenades, etc.) Didn't like typing that.
Hope all the hostages will get out alive and o.k. !!!!!!!!

Right now I could care less about the perps and what manner they exit this cafe. They can't stay there forever, so they will have to leave eventually. Tired of these troublemakers and their 'grievances' ; and I apologize in advance if that comes off as unduly harsh.
It's a bit difficult to get sympathy , or anyone on your side---when you hold people hostage who have done nothing to you or your cause.

This guy is not operating alone -- that witness who bumped into him and told him to watch where he was f*ing going saw the guy had two mates, dressed alike, walking with him.

So not a lone nutter. He has at least two offsiders, somewhere..... where'd they go I wonder.

I worry like hell re the claim on explosives planted around Sydney. Hopefully a bluff.

Martin Place siege: Son texts his mother to tell her he is a hostage in the Lindt Cafe

THE MOTHER of a hostage has spoken on 2GB after receiving a text from her son trapped inside the cafe.

Mel told 2GB her son an apprentice plumber must have been in the cafe getting a coffee.

At 3pm she received a text message: “Mum I’m in the Lindt cafe in Sydney.”

“My heart stopped, I sent back a text message: “What is going on? Are you okay.”

He wrote back: “I’m okay mum, can’t talk”.

Mel said that was the last she heard from him.
