The Leveson inquest has been adjourned until August, after 407 days so far. Matt's family say they may not be happy, but are satisfied

I really hope the bones this time are Matt's ...........the wait for confirmation would be horrible...

This is so sad, I hadnt heard of his case before, I was born in Miranda but havnt lived there since I was a kid so probably why I missed it, just saw a update on a facebook group and came here to read about it, I cant believe that boyfriend is just getting away with it now. ugh.

The father of murdered NSW man Matthew Leveson has told the man acquitted of the crime that he's "no longer of any use to our family alive" after police found what could be the skeleton of his 20-year-old son.

After an emotional day at his son's likely burial site in the Royal National Park south of Sydney, Mark Leveson on Thursday also slammed the jury which in 2009 acquitted Matthew's boyfriend Michael Atkins of his murder two years earlier.

"If any of the jurors on Matthew's trial see this, what the hell were you thinking?" Mr Leveson told reporters.
"Look what you've done to us, this you could have solved many years ago yourselves.

"And lastly, Michael Atkins, to you, you are no longer of any use to our family alive."

Mr Atkins told police he slept on the lounge, and in the morning he found Leveson dead in their bed.
He said there were drugs in the kitchen, but he did not see Mr Leveson consume them. He assumed that was what caused his death.

I feel for Matthew's parents. How do we know if Atkins is telling the truth?

At least, D I Jubelin has accepted the investigation was handled poorly and lessons learned.

BBM Not a chance.

For sure JLZ, like Brett Cowan said he accidentally killed Daniel! These murderers rely on the victim's remains never being discovered or if they are, decomposition as removed any chance of establishing cause of death.

Leveson's family to make closing statements

Mr Atkins has not taken the stand during this latest hearing.
The ABC asked Mr Atkins' lawyer if he would like to comment, and they declined on his behalf.
Matthew Leveson's father, Mark Leveson, has represented the family throughout the inquest.
He will give his closing statement tomorrow, detailing how the legal proceedings and the police handling of the case have affected the family.
Matthew Leveson will be laid to rest after the inquest, as his remains are still being held in the morgue.
