Thanks symbah and petedavo for updates.

Atkins should be held accountable and sentenced to prison, even for the lesser charge of interfering with a corpse, the maximum sentence is 2 yrs. jmo

Thanks Morrisa for updates.

I feel for Faye and Mark Leveson, they kept searching, never gave up hope of finding Matthew, no parent should have to suffer like they have.

"Matthew Leveson's parents held up pictures of their son's skeleton on Friday and accused his onetime older lover Michael Atkins of killing their boy.

'Aikins said he loved Matt!' one of the pictures of Matthew's remains was captioned. 'You don't do this to someone you love.'

Faye Leveson had earlier stood in Glebe Coroner’s Court and accused Michael Atkins of possibly smothering, drowning or burying Matthew alive.

'We will always be left worrying, did Matty suffer?' Mrs Leveson said. 'Did he die quickly or was it slow and painful? Was he terrified?'

I feel confident that at the least the drawing of the sketch map will put him behind bars .
It cant go unnoticed!

Good work with the hypnotism

Quote :
"The Coroner also said it is "more likely than not" that Mr Atkins will be found to have given deliberately false evidence and be liable to prosecution for perjury.

"Aside from the location of Matthew's burial there are matters in [his] statement which would, if Mr Atkins was required to give evidence, be subject to much challenge and further litigation."

She also described his statement and assistance in locating Mr Leveson's remains as "entirely self-serving".

Atkins must be a heavy sleeper, or did you mean something else?

Yes i thought the hypnotism helped Atkins remember things like where the ML body was.
I found an article that mentions the hypnotism but im unsure if its the original one i saw, because i had formed the impression that the hypnotism was used for the burial site.
But its unclear in the mention in article linked below as to how excactly it helped .

I think Atkins was perhaps high to extremely high on drugs, and understand that could have a very severe impact on his memory recollection being correct.

Quote mentions the hypnotism below ;

"On Wednesday, the inquest heard Mr Atkins underwent two sessions of hypnosis to assist with the search for Mr Leveson's body.

Mr Leveson's family also loaned Mr Atkins their son's car, which they had kept since his disappearance, in an effort to jog his memory.

On Thursday, the ABC obtained drawings provided by Mr Atkins to police.

Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin said the diagram was "consistent" with the location of the body, which was found after extensive excavation at the Royal National Park South of Sydney at the end of May."

I was thinking about the other map, and where the couch might have been. It seems Matthew would have had to walk past Atkins (twice) to get to the kitchen and the drugs and then back to the bedroom.

Then, when, according to Atkins, did he begin panicking? Was it before or after he lay down beside Matthew for a while and told him he loved him? Sounds like rather relaxed behaviour for a panicking person? When he found Matthew, had he already seen the drugs in the kitchen, and was therefore able to begin "panicking" immediately? Or did he not see the drugs until afterwards, in which case why hadn't he already called an ambulance?

I'm not going to believe a "panicking" defence anyway, but the detail of this makes it particularly stupid.

It's incredible, Atkins was the last to see Matthew alive, he left a Bunning's docket in the boot of Matthew's abandoned car, there was cctv evidence of him purchasing a pick and gaffer tape, he lied that he went to Bunnings or knew what happened to Matthew, and still Atkins was acquitted of murder and manslaughter by the jury. At the time, there was no body or evidence of foul play at the home, it was all circumstantial evidence.
No wonder the Leveson's feel betrayed, first by Atkins and then by the courts. It's a bitter sweet ending, they've got Matty and given him a proper burial but justice won't be done.

I don't know what to think JLZ. Jubelin wants to believe this liar and I can see it would be easier to believe it when Atkins can't be prosecuted, obviously, the Levesons feel differently.

Atkins was very controlling of Matthew, he was the player and Matthew had to wait on him and it finally came to a head that night. I can't believe Matty died of an overdose, he was probably in the process of leaving and narcissists like Atkins won't let that happen.
The psychologist said Atkins sticking to this simple story of what happened was childlike, typical behaviour of narcissists (they're emotionally immature, usually like a 5 or 6 yr old, all their lives). JMO

This is kind of a crazy thought but I wonder if there was some table turning and it was Jubelin who became hypnotized not Atkins.

Matthew Leveson could have been buried by two men, parents claim

The family of Matthew Leveson believe Michael Atkins may have had an accomplice who helped bury the body of their dead son in a shallow grave inside a NSW national park.

Mark and Faye Leveson told nine.com.au that an unnamed witness' official version of events had changed four times since Matthew vanished after leaving a Sydney gay nightclub in 2007.

The parents of Matthew contend that man of interest, who cannot be identified for legal reasons but was interviewed twice by police, has lied to NSW detectives and withheld vital information from the investigation.

In May, Matthew's skeleton was finally discovered in the Royal National Park, NSW following a series of searches based on Atkins' sudden confession to police after almost 10 years of hurtful silence.

Matt's mother, Faye, said she believed Atkins may not have been alone when he lifted Matthew's lifeless body into the boot of his own car and drove him in the dead of night into bushland near Sutherland.

Matthew Leveson's parents call for cold-case reward changes
Aug 31, 2017
Sydney Morning Herald

'The parents of Sydney man Matthew Leveson, who was buried in a national park a decade ago, want an automatic $1 million reward to be offered for the most serious cold-case murders.'

'Mark and Faye Leveson say they had to "beg" for the reward in their son's unsolved case to be increased to $250,000.'

'Ms Leveson believes more cold cases could be cracked if higher rewards were offered.'
