I would bet that the bin-diver is one of the people whose DNA was taken, and maybe that is why he told his story about Lesley and said that he would have checked the bins that morning, and he didn't wear gloves.

(Paraphrased) He told the reporter that a face mask was essential (during his bin diving) due to the smell - but he didn't wear gloves, and that information could help detectives as they try to confirm the identities of anyone whose fingerprints or DNA was found on the bins that the police seized.

After the recent DNA testing debacle in Qld, I hope that their state forensic lab is sorted out now.

Scathing report into Queensland DNA lab failures

Can’t agree more! Especially if you’re comfortable telling people who look different to you to go back to where they came from for any reason.

For a very intelligent woman (implied anyway) I struggle to understand her inflexibility to live and let live.
I’ve read studies equating racism with lack of intelligence.

This is an excerpt from a Sydney Morning Herald article from 2014:

Racists cannot be let off the hook just because they are stupid

“…letting people off the hook for their stupidity ignores the impact their words have on those to whom they are directed.
It ignores the ever present mentality that being from a non-white culture in Australia is to be "other".
It allows the structural effects of racism to fester on, and the harmful effects of unconscious race discrimination to continue.
It ignores the long history of racism, oppression and discrimination that are a part of the world's and Australia's history from which these "stupid" comments stem.
It allows people to continue telling the victims of racist outbursts to "toughen up" or "get over it" instead of insisting that the perpetrators take responsibility for what they've said and how it's affected someone.”

This is a quote from Why are people racist? | Australian Human Rights Commission
There are no reasons or excuses for racism. It's just wrong. And In many cases, racism is against the law.”

I pose this question: if it was a brown woman would she have received the same depth of investigation?

LT should not have been murdered but let’s not pretend that having how to put out your rubbish, or what’s in your bin gone through, or what cars you can park on your front lawn, or where you can live if your skin is a certain colour dictated to you isn’t a bit bonkers, and if one of my neighbours was like it I’d tell them to adjust their attitude accordingly to respect everyone.
I truely hope she wasn’t teaching children to be like that. Or treating any student’s differently.
And if you’re smart enough to hide being a racist in front of people at school or work but do it at home, that’s even worse as you know what you’re doing.

The people may be a suspects, or possibly the police are taking samples from some people just to rule them out.

But, it sounds like the investigation is still moving forward.
The police told this person (who lives in a neighbouring complex) that they 'are not the only one' to submit a DNA sample and that if they 'are a suspect [they] would be treated very differently' - whatever that means.

Racism isn't just by the ignorant. Some very intelligent people are racists:

The unwelcome revival of ‘race science’

There's some other info that may be relevant but I don't feel it's my place to divulge; relevant to another motive other than the 'racism-revenge' motive. I really don't know why Lesley would do that [this thing I personally saw her do and two others did too] other than dementia was creeping in. But this behaviour would certainly put any woman in danger...and I'm wondering if she was sexually assaulted/raped then murdered to cover it up.

Now you have got us curious.
is it something to do with her state of dress?

I imagine the police are trying to determine who legitimately could have touched the bin that Lesley was in, and who should have had no reason at all to touch it.

If Lesley was murdered, and murdered by someone who does not live at the relevant unit complex or someone who had not bin-dived that bin, their DNA should not be on the bin.

The coincidence of Lesley being killed when she had just sold her unit and was due for settlement at a retirement unit does not escape me. There could also be a money motivator for murder. imo

I find that being on a phone call at midnight could also be linked. We just have no background to determine who Lesley might or might not have been speaking with at midnight. Reports say that she last spoke with her brother at 11am that day, so it wouldn't have been him.

Agree sadly.
Racism and ignorance is certainly unfortunately not mutually exclusive.

And since you mention it, maybe it was something she wouldn’t have necessarily said with her full faculties?
Perhaps that and other behaviours indicate LT may have in fact been in the early stages of Dementia?

Maybe it means that a suspect would have more than just their DNA taken.
They would have been actively investigating them.

Ie by an interview or checking into their activities and alibi etc.

I guess that the weather has been too warm for decomposition to have slowed. And, in fact, it happened faster than the police had anticipated.

According to AccuWeather, the daytime temps during the search were 25C to 30C every day.

The fact that the dump search has been unsuccessful is very troubling to me. Troubling because it increases the chance that Leslie’s death will never be explained. Troubling also because of how easy it seems someone has been able to use a rubbish bin to dispose of a body and the associated evidence. Have they done this before. Will they do it again.
