There is also people at the side of the house, don't know who, but the frame is familiar. Can anyone get closer?

Just catching up after seeing the news today about digging up the yard looking for a car.
Why would someone bury a car. If there was evidence, eg blood, DNA in it that someone wanted to hide wouldn't it be easier to just burn the car somewhere off the beaten track. Burying a car seems an odd and labour intensive thing to do.
To bury a car to hide a body in it just seems very odd. A body can be buried anywhere much quicker and easier than a car.
It's all very strange.
However I hope they find Novy's body in the car. She is surely dead and finding her remains is a good thing.

All of my thoughts exactly Ali - incredibly strange but hopefully there will be some answers soon

This certainly is a strange case. Here's hoping for justice for Novy and her family.

Wow, cant believe the latest on Novy. Burying a CAR? That is weird. So were any of the family cars missing? What could this car be?

They also say a man living in the house had met her husband, John Chardon, in the past and that the family was living there before Ms Chardon disappeared

Just jumping off your post to add further to this ..... in the press conference the Detective wouldn't be drawn on how Chardon and the house resident knew each other. He would only say that they had 'met' ... whatever that means, and it could mean so many things. It could be taken as they literally met at a function/through a friend/at the race track, or when the rental agreement for the house was drawn up, or it could be 'disguised speak' for they knew each other fairly well but I'm not telling you that.

But I do know that Chardon is/was pretty interested in horse racing too - he and Novy sponsored a track day at Xmas each year (the Parklands Christmas Cup) - and you can meet many very interesting types of people at race tracks, if you are in the inner circle.

It would be interesting to know if it was a relative, friend, employee, hired help, casual acquaintance .....

You can picture it can't you .... and when you've finished that make sure you get rid of the *** ute. I haven't got time. So the bloke buries it in his backyard...

This can be absolutely fantastic news because if the ute hasn't been burned then there will be forensic evidence and hopefully some dna.

Are you thinking it may be a Volvo SUV parked next door? Hard to tell ... not that I can tell the make of most cars at the best of times!

The car next door is a Holden Captiva.

Sorry Sleepinoz and Good ! I respectfully disagree.

I've just been studying them side by side.

Both utes have a high tray behind the cabin
Both have the metal frame with the wire / still running horizontally between the window and tray
Both have square side mirrors
Both have the same shape rear window
Both have the same front door panels - shape and detail

I agree that the house ute cabin may look slightly higher but I think this is an illusion because it is parked on a slope.

Have a look at them side by side. I used 2 computers.

They aren't the same ute. The ute parked outside the Mt Nathan residence is a Ford F100. The one outside Candan Industries is an early 2000's Toyota Hilux. You can get a sense of scale from the Pulsar parked next to it, the F100 is a BIG ute, it would positively dwarf the Pulsar. From long range there are similarities (there are only so many styles in which you can design a cab chassis ute!), but I can assure you that they aren't the same car.

or it could be 'disguised speak' for they knew each other fairly well but I'm not telling you that. .

I'd say you have hit the nail on the head, police don't release information of that nature unless it is directly relevant to the case. They wouldn't have mentioned it if they had only met briefly at a party 10 years ago or anything like that. Of course not wanting to pre-empt anything but I'd say there is a significant connection between the 2.

Welcome JCB

As I said in an earlier post I do now believe it isn't the same car. :)

Thank you and my apologies, it took a while for my account to be activated so I hadn't read the latest posts lol.

Police have held a press conference in relation to the Novy Chardon case. They have confirmed John Chardon, Mrs Chardon's husband, has previously met with the owner of the home that they are currently excavating. They say they are acting on information that a vehicle is buried in the yard, not information that Mrs Chardon is buried in the yard. Detectives and uniformed police remain on the scene and forensice and scenes of crime officers are on standby. Excavating continues this morning and an update will be provided once, and if, the suspect vehicle has been located.

I hate to jump to conclusions...but if this family lived in the home prior to Novy's disappearance...

Then they lived there while the car was being buried....

What happened... Did JC come over one day and say..."Hey... Ya mind if I bury a car in your back yard?"

And man living in house replies..."No problem!" No questions asked?!?

This is so bizarre... :what:

I'm going to guess that this guy worked for JC, and bullied him into it with hefty payoff. There has been a serious amount of work done on and around that house, and that doesn't come cheap.
