UPDATE: Police are searching for Novy Chardon's remains at a property with links to a 'person of interest'

Police have revealed they are searching for Novy Chardon's remains at the Advancetown property.

They say remote property, on the Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd, had links to a 'person of interest' in the murder investigation.

The 3.6ha property contains a large dam and police divers are on the scene, along with about 50 SES volunteers.

Regional crime co-ordinator Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said the search was testament to the dedication of officers to solve the crime.

He would not say what led police to the unoccupied property except that it was 'connected to a person of interest'.

He confirmed John Chardon remained a 'person of interest' but said others were also believed to be involved in Mrs Chardon's suspected murder.

"We're searching for Novy's remains," Supt Hutchinson said.

An update is expected later.

They said "linked with a person of interest" -- so maybe Chardon -- but the, police believe there was people helping him, so one of those maybe.

Mrs Chardon disappeared in February 2013 and police believe she was murdered, possibly by three men.

Mr Chardon, who is currently in prison on separate offences, has been considered a suspect in the case but has always denied involvement.

The property has been linked to a person of interest in the case
