Lets just hope his ego gets the better of him when he is in jail and he spills the beans on Novy. Seems I was wrong about one of the staff members there. I have seen the email that was sent out to all of their customers about a month prior to Novy's disappearance to say this person no longer had anything to do with Candan Industries. That shocked me as she was the only female that John ever seemed to have respect for.
On another note, I said a number of happy expletives when I heard the news that he had been locked up. Lets hope that he has to suffer some more jail time for the pain he has caused for so many people.

Nothing much new in the way of news, since the 14th Aug.. I keep checking the net, and here as well, for news Novy's been found. But you know, I don't think she ever will be. I think she's probably at the bottom of some very deep body of water or other. Probably in a lubricant barrel. But I won't give up hope, despite that.
 
JWC on the Southport District Court list this morning (10th Sept) for "presentation of indictment - legal representatives required" - that must relate to the second lot of charges.... might be a report on it later today. There are a number of matters for mention and a trial partway thru before the sole judge so it'll probably be only quick and he might not even appear.

The guy in red was the man who lived in Mt Nathan (just up the road from someone I know who lives in that street) who used to bring home old cars, strip them, then bury the shells on his property. Police raided him, dug up the cars, found nothing so left. He was so tarnished by the media he later sold his house and moved away from the area.

Were the police investigating a solid lead? Yes, personally I think so.

Ah yes, David Babbington. John Chardon's acquaintance. It would be interesting to know what forensics found out about the white ute parts they dug up in his back yard.

He has also told investigators he is an “acquaintance” of Mrs Chardon's husband, John, who has previously been named as a person of interest in the case.

Mr MacCallum said his client had cooperated fully with police, and strongly denied suggestions Mr Babbington had hampered the search by directing diggers to the wrong section of the backyard.

I wonder how many years will be added to his sentence if found guilty of the additional firearms charges and the new sex offence charges? (and let's hope they add the tazer gun on top of it)
Police have now alleged that after returning to Australia from his Indonesian business trip, Chardon committed offences against two young children belonging to a former employee, on unknown dates between March and April, 2013.

Hopefully the pattern of repeated offences will be sentenced much harder than the initial ones that sent him to jail... and be enough to keep him off the streets until we have a development in the Novy case... :crossfingers:
 
What bothers me most (aside from Novy) about this is that Chardon is the kind of man who'd rape two more kiddies while he KNEW he was under police scrutiny.. so how many more have there been over the years, when no-one was watching him? Maybe some people too scared to speak up so far will come forward once he's been sentenced for this next pile of offences. I highly doubt these were the only times he's molested kids.

As someone who was always too scared to speak up, either scared of the molester or scared of the trouble it'd cause people surrounding the situation, I can understand why some won't come forward, especially against a person with money and influence. But Chardon's been disgraced and whatever influence he had will soon be waning now he's a convicted pedo... I hope that makes it easier for the others he's undoubtedly harmed. Whoever, wherever they are, my heart goes out to them.

I share your concerns. I believe we are dealing with a serial offender who has shown no sign of remorse and I hope any past victims we haven't heard from yet will stand forward and help ensure we don't have a serial offender walking out on parole in less than 3 year's time.

John Chardon, 67, received a six-year sentence ..... He will be eligible for parole in three years.

:waiting: just a few more months till the 2nd anniversary of Novy's "dissappearance"
 
For two years a mother missing, possibly murdered by her husband.
How are Novy's children coping, father in gaol and their mother presumed dead. This really is horrible.
 
As Christmas rolls up, I find myself thinking about Novy's kids - wondering where they are, who they're with... what they've been told about their dad being in prison on heinous charges, how much they must miss their lovely Mum.... what a sad Christmas this is for kids with no Mum and now no Dad....

They're such sweet, lovely looking kids. Their pictures with Novy make it clear how much she cherished her children, and they her.

My thoughts will be with them, through the holiday season.
