Auction.....really?

This is stupid and kinda cruel. I guess ever since Lost in Larrimah came out the house has become sort of attraction. People need to remember that Paddy and Kellie were real people who didn't deserve what happened to them.
 
Apparently, A Current Affair tonight is going to have a piece about Paddy and the sale of his property.

There is now an online real estate listing about the property. realestate.com.au

And the realtors have put together a little video about the property, because the auction is on 7th May and they will be accepting bids from people who don't want to travel to Larrimah for the auction.

No price guide ... they are under strict instructions from the Public Trustee to sell Paddy's place for market value. I guess meaning that whatever a top bidder will pay is what they'll take.

(As per ACA on Ch9 just now)

I think Paddy had a 'wife' and child in a different remote community. The book looked into that a bit.
Perhaps the Public Trustee is settling Paddy's affairs and they will be the beneficiaries.

Missing man Paddy Moriarty's old house in the tiny Northern Territory town of Larrimah has sold at auction for $32,000.

From a crowd of seven registered bidders at the auction on Tuesday morning, a South Australian buyer who phoned in was the winning bidder.

The buyer is understood to want to use the home as an NT base for winter escape

Surprised it even fetched that much TBH. Perhaps the buyer just sees it as some kind of novelty visiting there occasionally?

The NT DPP says it will not lay charges in relation to the 2017 disappearance of Paddy Moriarty, more than two years after a coronial inquest found he was likely killed "due to the ongoing feud he had with his nearest neighbours".

Ouch. Probably means we won’t see charges unless they find a body - and even then that might not be enough to link it to the murderer.
Doubt we’ll see a confession. Not sure what other evidence there could be remaining that hasn’t turned up so far.
Just imo.

Sounds like someone is going to get away with murdering both Paddy and his dog.


"In my opinion Paddy was killed in the context of and likely due to the ongoing feud he had with his nearest neighbours," the coroner's 2022 findings read.

In the coronial inquest, which was split into two halves in 2018 and 2022, police played audio which detectives alleged was of Mr Laurie, singing of how he "killerated" Mr Moriarty with a claw hammer.

Mr Laurie denied it was him singing on the secretly recorded tapes.
