Ms Cutler’s sister wants three parts of her sister’s disappearance reinvestigated — a break-in at her Fremantle home shortly before she disappeared, her complaint a man had tried to force her car off Stirling Highway and a question of whether she made it home the night she disappeared because her wallet was found at her house

I didn't see this anywhere and couldn't find a particular thread for Susan McMahon so thought I'd post it here. It's the Coroner's finding into Susan McMahon's disappearance. Apologies if it has already been posted somewhere or there is a thread.

I wonder if police have looked at all the attacks on sex workers with regards to Donald Morey.

(Just and edit to say that I'm not implying Sarah was a sex worker. I meant that with regards to Morey's conviction for attempted murder of a sex worker and because he has been linked to Darylyn Ugle.)

Sarah McMahon who worked at the reticulation store in Claremont had become involved in drugs. Ref: Coroners report.

Drugs is a common theme in many of the Perth murders of girls although I doubt the Claremont girls had any substance dependance beyond experimentation.

Lisa Brown (prostitute) had a heroin habit although lived out towards Huntingdale apparently. (Unsubstantiated comment)

Coroners report: At the time of her disappearance Sarah McMahon was
living with her family in the suburb of Parkerville.

At the time of her disappearance Ms McMahon had
become reasonably friendly with Mr Morey, in spite of their
age difference of approximately 25 years. It appears that
they met reasonably regularly, they texted each other and
spoke on the telephone.
Shortly before her disappearance Ms McMahon had
obtained a part-time job at Hugall and Hoile, an irrigation
company. She worked at the company’s Claremont office at
213-215 Stirling Highway, Claremont.

Mr Pritchard believed that she said the location
was Bassendean

The keys to the vehicle and Ms McMahon’s mobile
telephone were not located in her car. The mobile telephone
was, however, subsequently located by the caretaker of the
Middle Swan Primary School in November or early
December 2000. He had located the telephone on the Great
Northern Highway at a location not far from the Swan
District Hospital

These telephone records are of potential importance to
the case as they reveal that Mr Morey was in telephone
contact with Ms McMahon, that the last call which she
received was made by him at 5.20pm at a time when he
appeared to be moving in the direction of Midland and
Middle Swan, and that the paths of the two persons appear
to have been converging at about the same time,
immediately before Ms McMahon’s disappearance.

I recall the van distinctly. The yellow paint was a bit faded and discoloured. It had two doors on the back that opened out and an L-shaped handle. No windows in the sides. The interior was filthy dirty with bench seat in front (torn black upholstery),

Ex RAC van

Telecom may have had yellow panel vans. Either way ex service vehicle probably bought at auctions.

Deverall was said to be involved in heroin trafficking 7 days before her trial which may have incriminated others.
A man is serving jail for the crime claiming the crime was random but I doubt it.

Cath Birnie certainly sold dope but it would be worth knowing if she sold other drugs.

The program interviewed the daughter of Cheryl Renwick, who it named for the first time as a victim of the Birnies.
The Perth single mother of two vanished at the age of 33 in May 1986 after being stalked by an unknown couple.

Lisa Mott went missing in 1980. Even if Telecom had yellow panel vans the CSK accused was too young to drive or work at Telstra.

I agree hence Birnie posts. Doesnt mean Birnie not have been using a Telecom van or ex Telecom. Bunbury it sounds like.

If its RAC, even though David Birnie committed suicide, a database search of the appropriate model might locate who bought the car.

In around 1975 there was probably not as many RAC vans in a particular model.

Yellow outside, black upolstery, L shaped rear lock on swing doors.

Swing doors could be Ford Transit or custom made RAC doors for an EH panel van.

Birnie was in prison for Sharon Masons murder.
Surely Sharon Masons friend has a more mature view of Sharons disappearance.
The whole case has gone quiet regarding an appeal.

"Deverall was said to be involved in heroin trafficking 7 days before her trial which may have incriminated others."

Not Annette Deverell.
Perhaps Vanessa Devlin ?
Wrong name....

"Birnie was in prison for Sharon Masons murder."

Was he guilty ?

An ex RAC van with Bunbury or Collie registration.
Look up all particular models sold by RAC. VIN. Not that many in the 1980s.

An owner look up via a contemporary licence database moght turn up some interesting results.

Birnie had 19 years after his convictions to appeal the crimes he confessed to and lead police to the victims.
Murder Uncovered has a good coverage of the news.

David Birnie wasn't going to be the culprit for Sharon Masons murderer as he was in prison.

Something that hadnt been mentioned before re two men and panel van having argument with Sharon Mason who was saying she wanted to go home.

Sharon Mason was near a restaurant she worked part time.
Be interested to know which restaurant that would be.

A couple of background checks on white panel van and Sharons work collegues might help.

Some of these tasks are much easier today with new technology.

Sharons closest friend joined at the hip must know more about this.

Police must be reinvestigating this girl discovered a mask and pubic hair (DNA) in the bag behind the shop.

Sharon Mason July 1994

Others said they saw her telling two young men in a white panel van that she “just wanted to go home” in an argument not far from the restaurant where she worked casually.
