Oh it did happen on Sunday.

Tragic Prabha memorial to remind Sydney of a “senseless violent act”

He is here today, Arun Kumar, with their 11-year-old daughter Meghana.

Here with his extended family, friends and the kind souls that have been the family’s support since that horrendous crime in the dark of night on March 7.

Prabha Arun Kumar stabbing: Family and friends unveil plaque at park where woman was murdered

The family of murdered Indian woman Prabha Arun Kumar has unveiled a plaque in her honour during an emotional memorial at the western Sydney park where she was killed.

On the day after what would have been her 42nd birthday, Ms Kumar's parents, husband, young daughter and brother were among those who followed the same path she did on the night she died in March.

He said the park was safer in the wake of his sister's death because security cameras and lighting had been installed.

The pathway where Ms Kumar took her final steps before being stabbed to death has been re-named Prabha's Walk.

More than eight months after her murder, police are yet to make an arrest.

Oh bugger I was meaning to go but totally forgot.

Same here, it came and went unfortunately.

I was thinking her murderer was known to her but now I'm leaning towards some random sick *advertiser censored* with a chip on their shoulder who just felt like stabbing a defenseless woman who had been working possibly a 12 hour shift paying taxes for this scum to have nothing better to do in its miserable life.

I went to the park in daylight, it was pretty but I bet my bottom dollar it's the kind of place where the dregs of humanity would congregate at night.

Ahh, the older I get the less I understand.

Police have also questioned relatives of Mrs Kumar, who travelled to Sydney in

November for a service held in her honour, to help police add to the ‘victimology’.

These extensive interviews reportedly proved crucial for detectives trying to piece together more details about Mrs Kumar and any conflicts she may have had in her life.

Husband of Prabha Kumar 'dumbfounded' by theory linking India to his wife's murder

The husband of murdered mother Prabha Kumar has cast doubt on a theory that someone in India may have helped organise the killing, claiming his wife had no enemies among her family or friends.

Detectives have since ruled out robbery and sexual assault as motives and don't have anything to suggest the murder was racially-motivated.
Mrs Kumar's personal life is also being explored as police try to answer why the mother-of-one was killed.

I drive past here often and think of her.

Same here Oddsocks. It's such a pretty park during the day but I fear at night it could be a totally different environment.

1) Some ICE fuelled crazy wandering the park?

2) Hit from homeland.

Just saying, if it were me and my partner had been murdered overseas, with so little to go by and over one year on, I would be so desperate for a resolution that I'd be open to any theory whatsoever. I would not be defensive of any category of person or any country.

As to 'two incidents' that Prabha had supposedly disclosed to the husband...?? Hmmm. Interesting how this has been raised so late in the piece. And Prabha disclosed them to her husband in India but no one here (as no one here seems to have been been able to provide any clues to police) and nothing was reported to police here? Putting yourself forward as being the only one that these 'incidents' were disclosed to, just makes them sound all the more odd. Why keep it all in the family and tell someone who is living in India about them, and not 'disclose' them here, in the country in which they are supposed to have occurred?...................

Not saying it hasn't happened before, but it seems Prabha had been working in Australia for many years already. Her husband was raising their daughter. Perhaps wages are higher in Australia than in India, but does it seem surprising to other people too, that a wife and mother would be working in another country for so many years?

The other point I stumble over a little is that the killing happened at the very time she was on the phone to her husband. I can see how it appears normal that she'd be talking to him on the phone on her way home from work. And I can also see how she would have been relatively easy prey at that time of evening, in the dark, in that park. Seen in isolation, the two circumstances are reasonable/plausible. But the two circumstances intersecting?? What are the odds??!! Just my instinctive feeling, that it's a bit 'out there'.

I'm interested with the wording of some of these articles.

Kumar’s work visa was expiring in June this year. Police, however, said that there was no reason to suggest that the attack had a racist angle. The investigation is going on to find out if it was a random or a targeted killing. Kumar worked with Mindtree. She was supposed to go back to India in April.

She was supposed to go back to India in April. BBM

Another seemingly strange coincidence. After years and years of working here, this happens just a couple of weeks until she was due to go back to India. Wonder whether someone didn't want her to return??

Parramatta Park murder of Prabha Arun Kumar was ‘not random’

We are still in the process of reviewing a large amount of materials including extensive phone records and financial records in an attempt to piece together Prabha’s life leading up to her tragic death,” he said.

“The investigation will continue to remain active until it is solved and at the appropriate time and on advice from the coroner the matter will go to the inquest.

Police have been in contact with authorities in India as part of the investigation.

“As Prabha was an Indian national, we will continue to work closely with our counterparts in India, which includes close contact with her family who reside both in India and Australia.”

Indian police officials who spoke to The Indian Express said that Prabha’s family have told the Australian investigators that she was looking to return to India in April 2015 to live with her young daughter. They also told the Australian Police that Prabha was reportedly saving money to buy property in her daughter’s name.
The police is believed to have spoken to Prabha’s family as well as her husband Arun Kumar.
The newspaper report cites sources who have revealed that the Australian Police have gathered evidence that suggests that someone tried to tamper with the evidence after the murder.
“There seems to be some concrete evidence with which they are working,’’ a police source is quoted saying.

Australian Police have reportedly prepared a list of 15 people who were in regular touch with Prabha. "They have drawn up a list of 15 mobile numbers of people who were in constant touch with her," The Times of India reported.

Bengaluru: A team of police from Sydney is in Bengaluru investigating the possibility of a local angle in the murder of Prabha Arun Kumar,
Sources told The Hindu that the Sydney police are investigating whether someone known to Mrs. Kumar had orchestrated the attack. They are probing the case with the assistance of cyber crime sleuths here

"The assailant did not rob Mrs. Kumar. Among other things, she was wearing a gold chain leading police to suspect that it was not a murder for gain. They are now probing whether she was murdered for personal reasons,”
