"My heartfelt condolences go out to Shyanne-Lee's family," Commander Chambers said.

"While we have confirmed that they are human remains that were found yesterday, there is still forensic testing that's required to confirm that it's Shyanne-Lee.

"Saying that, we do believe that it's her."

And there it is.

They are waiting on confirmation, but they wouldn't be so frank if they thought there was any doubt.

Heartbroken for Shyanne-Lee and her family.

Accused named
Does anyone know why they would be covering the accused photos? I was thinking maybe early and they don't want to have another issue like they did in WA using the wrong TK pics on the news

I wonder who tipped off police And good for them for doing so. It doesn’t seem like anyone else would have known - unless the murderer told them. It doesn’t seem like the tip came from someone who had found the body as police had to search for the poor child After getting the tip.

On one Launceston community Facebook page, members asked for ways to show their support, with many mindful of maintaining the family's privacy.

One person wrote a trucking company was planning on a "Lights On for Shyanne" on Monday.

"It's something we can do that's compassionate yet not intrusive," they wrote.

Really lovely seeing people being this considerate of the family's need for space, but also wanting to show support. Good on you, Tassie.

The Daily Mail reported this morning that Shyanne's biological father is in prison in Hobart. (Sorry, don't know how to link)

Tasmania is a small island state, with a population just over 500,000 people. There is only really the one prison, Risdon, in Hobart.

Well, if he loves his daughter at all, that's going to make housing the defendant very difficult.

The court may have issued an order supressing publication of some identifying information.

Or maybe there is a reason under the Tasmanian Evidence Act www.legislation.tas.gov.au/view/html/inforce/current/act-2001-076#GS194K@EN in which identifying information is specified as:
identifying information, in relation to a person, includes –
(a) the name, address, school, place of employment and any other reference or allusion that identifies, or is likely to lead to the identification of, the person; and
(b) a picture or image of the person;

In the wake of the heartbreaking news, online trolls attacked Shyanne-Lee’s mother, and her grandmother has responded to the vicious online taunts.

The troll falsely said that Tatnell was in the care of the state and also falsely claimed: “poor kid never had a chance in life.”

Tracy Ketchell, the grandmother of Tatnell, reposted the troll’s baseless post and added. “Anyone know this low life?”

Ketchell defended Tatnell’s mother and claimed she was the most “loving woman alive.”

“Not only is she coming to terms with everything that’s happened, she has someone like you who knows absolutely nothing.

“Shyanne wasn’t in state care. Go back and read the statements made and pull your *advertiser censored**ing head in,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Shyanne-Lee’s mother Bobbi-Lee Ketchell, has posted a heartfelt statement about her daughter on Facebook.

“On behalf of Shyanne and her family, I know she would want to thank you all, Rochelle, the police, cib, SES, volunteers and all those involved in Shyanne’s case, for bringing her home to us,” she wrote.

“You aren’t caring enough! You’re giving up! You can’t afford things like a billboard or posters for my daughter who is missing. You know what stuff you all judgmental beings!” She wrote.

Before asking the haters to “live one day in my shoes,” and then “judge” her.

“Shut your mouth, you have something to say about me and my situation say to my face!”
