after trying to sleuth the quote i heard on tv, the closest i can find is this >> http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...t/news-story/87d0216f6b23b2d1911f280e4016705a

So the sexual assault charge hasn't been dropped, but the bodily harm has been replaced with deprivation of liberty?

"The original charge against Vincent Stanford of aggravated sexual assault involving bodily harm was withdrawn and replaced with the charge of aggravated sexual assault and deprivation of liberty."

Seems like murder was on Vincents mind for quite some time before he put it into action.. I am curious to know if Stephanie was his planned out objective, or whomsoever.. . horrid. Vile .

And I doubt if Vincent kept this his secret.. It seems possible, probable that he shared this desire with his brother. whether he mentioned his assigned victim or not.. It seems to me the kind of thing Vincent would blab about, have someone to float the ideas around with.. not a solitary occupation.

Thanks Oz Jen.

Regarding the changes to the charges against VS, this article states:
"Today, that sexual assault charge occasioning actual bodily harm was replaced with aggravated sexual assault and deprivation of liberty".

A Jetstar boarding pass formed part of the evidence against Marcus Stanford, although it did not specify where or when the flight was taken. Interesting.

" Police allege Ms Scott was murdered by Vincent between 1.40pm and 2pm on April 5..."

Broad daylight!.. nothing bothered Vincent, apparently.

That Jetstar boarding pass.. a bit of a turnup... I looked up Jetstar destinations, maybe he was heading overseas, .. maybe to Griffith, he would be paying full last minute fare. .about $ 700 one way between Adelaide- Sydney- Griffith... he has to be picked up from Griffith and taken to Leeton...

And then Markus has to get out of Griffith.... get back to his digs and job in Adelaide....

Since the court case against Vincent is on the schedule, it appears he must have been designated as able to instruct his solicitor/barrister, otherwise he would have been held in some psychiatric facility for treatment until he was able to instruct his solicitor or deemed never to be able to do that.

So .. I don't think the Aspergers/Autism thingy is going to be a factor, at least as far as the prosecution is concerned.. it would now be up to the defence to bring up barriers regarding such a diagnosis to a properly conducted trial. ..

Possibly, the 'Dutch Doctor' has been unable to be found, or unable to make an appearance, or maybe he didn't exist at all, anytime, anywhere.

Viagra.. .. you know.. . really. the bloody nerve of men like this, honestly. Who the hell did he think he was? ..

I hope he took that Viagra and had a hardon for days, as painful as possible, all thru the shifting around of Steph's body, taking the body up to Cocoparra park, searching for wood, hauling the body to the fire, I hope it was extremely difficult for him. And that will be the last time his hardon's are of any use to him , because they don't care about that sort of thing in prison, Vinny. They wont be bothered by the lack of that.

I fume at the Viagra thing. It has made steam erupt from my ears.

*advertiser censored* addicts think violent and painful sex is normal. These freaks believe women love it. I really pity these female *advertiser censored* 'stars'. :puke:

"Among the evidence tendered against Vincent Stanford were email purchases for Viagra, cleaning products, a training sword, a knife and plastic handcuffs known as "flexi cuffs", as well as an email with an enquiry about legcuffs."

"The invoice for Viagra was tendered along with *advertiser censored* and dating site URLs."

Could he have been fixated with Stephanie and it became apparent that she was getting married soon and heading off on a honeymoon. Time was approaching had to have her before she married and if he couldn't have her then NOBODY could?

I agree with you Trooper, throw away the key on these cretins. I don't want them walking the streets. Stephanie, women, no one deserves to die like this.

I'm thinking maybe, possibly LE negotiated to a lesser charge for him to admit he murdered Stephanie.

A training sword??

Flexie cuffs??

He was working around kids at a school???

There has been no sign as yet that Stephanie was his objective.. his sole objective.. it is entirely possible that he was fixated on any of the kids at the school, it is a consolidated school I think it goes up to year 12, that's girls of around 16 , 17.. Steph wasn't the only female teacher .......maybe it was just her bad luck to be there that day..

That day had to have some significance.. he is home alone, the brother and the mother have gone away for Easter, and he is home all alone, left behind, free to come and go at all hours, without explanation... he can zip around the countryside at 3am in the morning, no questions asked by a nosy mother or brother..

It is difficult to imagine that he would have known Stephanie would be at the school that day.. I find it hard to think of her talking with him about her plans for Easter. .. I could be wrong. .

But he was certainly planning on doing something to someone, someone who would need to be handcuffed and even footcuffed, someone who , obviously , wasn't going to consent. Someone at sometime that Easter break. .. Someone he could shake a sword at. And he would have to have time to let the Viagra do it's work, too.. lots of prepping and planning and clockwatching going on.

Now that we have more information about VS and some of the evidence tendered at court yesterday, some clever WSleuthers uncovered this content fairly early and informed msn:

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/stephanie...accused-vincent-stanford-20150413-1mk819.html

Stephanie Scott death: the fantasy life of murder accused Vincent Stanford
by Rachel Olding, Nick Ralston, April 2015.

Digital traces left by the 24-year-old in at least four computer forums reveal that he spent most of his time in front of a computer, usually playing military-themed computer games or developing his own programs.

"Mr Stanford maintained a secret online life, hiding behind fantasy characters"

"... ScareGame, a first person shooter set in the "lonely sewers" beneath London.
The game was to be based around a character, Nigel, who spends his time "torturing innocent victims" including "three young, ripe subjects" walking down a "desolate alleyway unprotected and completely unaware that they are being watched, hunted."

The 'watched' and 'hunted' is concerning IMO. Was SS his intended victim? Was she 'watched' and 'hunted' by him?

It appears he prepared to strike his victim unawares: feeding his secret fantasy life with *advertiser censored*, purchasing a knife, a sword, flexi-cuffs and viagra in advance. So he shows evidence of planning, organising; he anticipates resistance; his planned actions would be against the will of his intended victim.

This is poignant now given what evidence was tendered to court yesterday. Hypothetically speaking, it appears that he has acted out his secret fantasy life on his victim, capturing her unawares, depriving her of her liberty, cuffing her, torturing and violently raping (aggravated sexual assault)then murdering her in secret i.e. while he was alone. His mother and brother had gone away that weekend.

Accused killer Vincent Stanford allegedly sent teacher Stephanie Scott's engagement ring to twin brother

The police charge sheet says that Marcus "did assist" his identical twin brother Vincent and it is believed he received her engagement ring in the post in South Australia.

Vincent also appeared in Griffith Local Court on Thursday via video link, and was committed to stand trial in the NSW Supreme Court for murder in connection with Ms Scott's death.
A request by the 24-year-old's solicitor David Davidge to have his matter adjourned to allow his client to be assessed to see if he was fit to stand trial was rejected.

So not only did VS plan and commit this horrendous crime, he and his brother wanted to profit from it! Revolting pair of sick ****s! If it was trophy taking, well that just says it all!

I'm glad the mental health assessment was rejected. Imo, VS probably has a personality disorder, he sees people as 'objects', has no empathy or compassion, has no concept of boundaries but above all, KNOWS right from wrong therefore, deserves the stiffest punishment, life in prison.

In trying to play devil's advocate in a way to hypothesise how on earth Davidge is going to go about defending what is essentially a not guilty plea - I'm at a total loss with the flexicuffs. There really is no possible explanation for why he purchased them unless there was premeditated intent to use them to restrain someone.

A couple of law questions if anyone knows - Fuskier and Trooper, thanks for the reminder that if VS is competent enough to instruct his lawyer, then a psyc assessment isn't necessary. But...

Can Davidge demand one before trial? It would be safe to assume that they're not going for a temporary insanity defense right or they would have already had one? He has asked for one, but it doesn't really make sense that he hadn't already acquired it by now if he's asking only now. Is this incompetence on his part? Can they start crying temp insanity 'mid-trial'?

Something else that seems off is that this appeared like an opportunistic crime it was so sloppy. The car dumped where it was, the body only several meters from the service road at the national park, dumping (and posting) evidence in broad daylight, pictures of the body on a camera carelessly left in his car, let alone the main crime in broad daylight to say the least. *The mystery of how the car got where it was, still makes no sense imo. But the flexicuffs scream premeditated without a doubt. Don't know much about VS but MS doesn't seem stupid. I sleuthed him a bit in the early days of this, and his posts seem quite intelligent and articulate...

Just how relevant is the reduced charge of deprivation of liberty vs. bodily harm?

How common is it to refuse to enter a plea, even though refusal will equate to a not guilty plea anyway, and why would someone do that regardless? If VS isn't taking his lawyers advice, isn't that legal grounds to withdraw from representing VS? Refusing to plea would just p*ss of the court wouldn't it? Doesn't Davidge have an obligation to advise VS of his best interests legally? Can VS literally remain silent throughout the entire trial?

Apologies for any repitition, this case is just getting more confusing any time new information comes out.

How I see it. A psyche assessment is now , clearly, in the hands of the defence.. it isn't a matter for the court to adjudicate independently, and just as clearly, the prosecution isn't bothered by it one way or the other. IF, Vincent pleads not guilty by reason of mental impairment due to some defect, or psychosomatic pre existing process then the assessment takes on a whole different hue, the defence will argue for mitigation on those terms, and the prosecution will want to nitpick and tear down the structure of the mental impairment into something manageable within the confines of the law. .. like.. ok he's a bit off, but he's still guilty as all get out...

Why isn't he pleading one way or the other. .. This is not usually done, but it is indeed done and there is provision in the law to do it. The case will continue on AS IF he has pleaded not guilty. It would be far to radical to continue on AS IF he had pleaded guilty. He can, at any time, commit to a plea. Of either nature.

Where it will tell is in the sentencing, in so far as, should he be found guilty, and the likelihood of that seems firm, then he doesn't get any deduction or years off , discounts, if you will, of the sentencing time. He gets the straight sentence for murder in NSW which is ( I think ) 25 years now, plus all the added years for each component of aggravation and vexation, and just plain bloody minded perversity.

And yes, Vincent can remain stonefaced and silent throughout the entire shindig. He is entitled to do that. How that plays with the particular jury he winds up with , I don't know. He could request to be tried before a judge only. ( remember Gittany? he did ) ...

Vincent seems to me, along with Markus, to be the kind of clients who suddenly and loudly fire their barristers without warning, so this wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

Markus has obviously taken on board the evidence against him, as being without room to wriggle and has decided to plead guilty, and he will get quite a hefty discount on his deserved amount of years for the guilty plea. I expect something around 7 or 8 years, but I don't know exactly what it was he did, and when. Why he did it seems plain, his brother asked him to., but I suspect there is much more to it than that.

I am also intrigued by the Jetstar ticket/s that Marcus purchased. I assume that if the engagement ring and other possessions were posted by Vincent to Marcus, Marcus did not fly to Leeton then by bus to Griffith that Easter weekend otherwise, surely Vincent would have just given them to Marcus to take with him. Vincent must have posted them before he was arrested.

I would, therefore, hazard a guess that the plan that Marcus must have had was to sell the items as soon as he could for cash and to use that money to buy a Jetstar ticket to leave Australia to a destination without an extradition agreement with Australia or to Bali (which is cheap to fly to from Adelaide) where he could hide at least for a while before the police could catch up with him.

I'm intrigued by the jetstar ticket too! It was used in the evidence brief against Marcus though. Marcus had plenty of time to cut and run before he was arrested so i'm dubious that it was for him. I'm a bit foggy on the timeline now so if anyone still has links that would be handy - Wasn't it the day after VS was arrested that the police raided MS's house at 6am and questioned him and his 2 housemates? It took a while for MS to be arrested but i'm sure they were watching him. If i were to speculate, i'd say that MS bought the ticket for VS before VS was arrested. Probably for VS to fly to Adelaide, and then MS could further assist him with going on the lam? Being identical twins, MS giving VS his I.D. could have assisted him even further in the short term. Just a thought. I don't think MS was ever in Leeton, but it IS odd that the police were showing MS's picture to people in light of now knowing about the plane ticket.

Please delete if not allowed* But was anyone sleuthing their xbox history. I found it very easy to find their gamer tags by some details of their online footprints that were actually posted on here. Both avid gamers, yet only VS had a gold membership, and MS only silver. However they would still have been able to talk to each other through xbox, which would be harder to investigate imo. Looking at their game history too, MS was more into 'shooters' whereas VS more into racing games (actually VS's game history seemed almost juvenile, lots of kids games etc). Their friend list is curious too, MS had plenty and VS had hardly any.

http://www.skynews.com.au/news/national/nsw/2016/04/01/scott-murder-accused-to-face-court.html >> VS's library book hiring history from Leeton was acquired as evidence too? Wonder what kind of information he required from a library that couldn't be obtained via googling through xbox.

Call out to Alioop. Can you assist us non-legal WS's with some legal information on this case please?

McPherson Oval in the southern New South Wales city of Wagga Wagga was awash in yellow on Saturday, as women's AFL side, the Riverina Lions, remembered their late team mate, Stephanie Scott.

The popular 26 year old Leeton High School teacher, who grew up in the Central West town of Canowindra, disappeared on Easter Saturday a week before she was due to be married.

Two brothers, one a cleaner at the school, are in custody in connection with her death.

We wanted to make something positive rather than a sad day so we wanted to honour her. We had a great day just remembering all the good times and plenty of laughs.
Riverina Lions Assistant Coach and Captain, Julie McLean
Riverina Lions Assistant Coach and Captain, Julie McLean, says 'Scotty Day' saw the team wearing yellow jumpers to defeat Canberra's Molonglo Juggernauts.

"Steph was a valued member for us playing over three different seasons playing for the Riverina Lions when she was a university student here," she said.
