The mother of slain schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer is hopeful new protocols sparked by the 12-year-old's death will protect other children who go missing from out-of-home care.
A report on the circumstances surrounding Tiahleigh's death last year has led the Queensland government to agree to new processes for children who go missing from care from today.
Her mother Cyndi told 9NEWS the reforms would be a type of legacy for her daughter.
"I feel like it may have come at the loss of Tiahleigh, which is very sad, but I think that this will help other children in the future and that Tiahleigh's name will not be in vain," she said.
