The mother of slain schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer is hopeful new protocols sparked by the 12-year-old's death will protect other children who go missing from out-of-home care.

A report on the circumstances surrounding Tiahleigh's death last year has led the Queensland government to agree to new processes for children who go missing from care from today.

Her mother Cyndi told 9NEWS the reforms would be a type of legacy for her daughter.

"I feel like it may have come at the loss of Tiahleigh, which is very sad, but I think that this will help other children in the future and that Tiahleigh's name will not be in vain," she said.

Big changes to school absentee rules after the death of Tiahleigh Palmer.

From today every Queensland school will have to immediately tell parents and carers if children are absent from school.

This is already the case in Victoria but for high school not primary school students. I think it was more to address truancy/absenteeism issues rather than potential abductions but this is such a simple thing for schools to implement. Should be Australia wide and for primary schools too.

Vincent Stamford was fixated on a 12 yr girl and had plans to kill her so it makes me wonder if a school worker had anything to do with Tia's murder

That would be an enormous coincidence which I can't quite see being the case ... too coincidental!

Are there any updates from police regatding Tiah's case?

Two Logan detectives will travel to London within the next fortnight with thousands of hours of CCTV footage collected over the 11-month investigation to work with a computer software company, 9NEWS can reveal.

The ground-breaking technology can hone in on people, vehicles and objects of interest, which at present are unidentifiable.

It utilises unique facial recognition and bio-mechanical testing programs, meaning it can identify Tiahleigh and anyone or anything around her.

The development comes after detectives received a number of phone calls, following the seizure of a "vehicle of interest" yesterday.

I feel the person who left Tiahleigh at kirkin road must have known the spot. I'm thinking they are into fishing and have been to that spot before. I never knew about the spot till the incident and I've lived in SEQ all my life. Allot of friends who fish know the spot. Food for thought anyway.

I just hear breaking news on Channel 9 that the owner of the car was the foster father!

Killer of schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer remains at large nearly 11 months after disappearance

'THE mother of murdered schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer has again taken to social media to express her frustration with aspects of the police investigation — including accusing police of withholding information from her.

Next Friday will mark 11 months since the 12-year-old disappeared after being dropped at Marsden State High School. Her body was found six days later on the banks of the Pimpama River by three fishermen.

In a weekend post on Facebook, which has since been deleted, Cindy Palmer accused authorities of withholding information from her relating to the investigation. In the post, Ms Palmer said she was frustrated at having to hear about aspects of her daughter’s murder investigation from members of the community.

Police have been contacted for comment in relation to Ms Palmer’s accusations.'

A bit here about the facial recognition technology. Detectives were about to go to London. I wonder if this was the catalyst for him to 'give himself up'?
