Sorry for the multiple posts!! I'm just excited to have a bit more information!!
I've never read this before (BBM) :
The [rescuers] were five school mates from Melbourne, on a round-Australia fishing trip, who rescued the missing German girl after, inexplicably, a group of off-duty cops kept fishing instead of leading the search.

The difference in societies where other cultures do no necessarily trust police officers .. unless they just said .. "We are undercover police officers" and unless there is ID we would also think it was a line.

As they left #SaltCreek, the group encountered a group of off-duty police officers fishing - but Brazilian didn't trust them."
Prior to the trial, Mr Pearce sought to have statements written by the Japanese woman and 11 other backpackers one Australian, the others foreign nationals tendered as evidence.
He said they included:
A FRENCH WOMAN who, in November 2015, wanted to go to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Rd.
A GERMAN WOMAN who, in November 2015, wanted to go to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Rd.
A FRENCH WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to Alice Springs.
A FRENCH WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to Darwin.
AN AUSTRALIAN WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to NSW.
A CANADIAN WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to Melbourne.
A GERMAN WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to Melbourne.
A GERMAN WOMAN who, in January 2016, wanted to go to Melbourne.
There is an escalation of interest in travelling with these women, Mr Pearce said.
It shows that he has got this interest in being alone and travelling alone to isolated places with these young women, just like he did with (the German) and (the Brazilian).
Combine that with the Viagra and the condoms there was also a bottle of passion pop in the car (at Salt Creek) it indicates what his true state of mind was.
When taken collectively, they give the whole trip its sexual aspect.

The #SaltCreek trial has resumed with evidence from Jeremy Handley, a police officer who examined accused's computers and mobile phone.
Detective Brevet Sergeant Handley says laptop was recovered from under accused's bed. Phone was in 4WD on beach at #SaltCreek.
Handley says he found 95 pornographic images, among thousands of normal images, on the laptop.
He says 37 showed women wearing some form of mouth gag.
He says 34 images showed women showed women with arms or wrists bound, 29 with hands and feet bound.
He says 5 images showed women with their hands bound, and 20 involved sexual acts including penetration.
Handley outlines 10 Internet searches using "rape terms", carried out on accused's laptop, between Nov '15 and Jan '16
He says another search was a website for a business selling "bondage products".
Handley says the iPhone, found in accused's 4WD, had two pornographic videos plus stills from those videos.
One video featured 1 bound woman, the second featured 2. Each was last accessed on Feb 7, '16 - 2 days before alleged #SaltCreek incident.

From an earlier post of mine
Ah, sorry DRT - I do remember that post of yours. I just didn't put two and two together.
Well I said it was mine but it was a response to JJ's copy of the tweets.
you can see how she was able to hang on with that grate. Lucky girl!!! I must say I would have found him guilty of attempted murder. He ran her over for God's sake. The fact she didn't die was a miracle not because he didn't have the intent IMOA previously unseen photo has surfaced.

How long until sentencing takes place. His name is still suppressed so there is obviously a hell of a lot more to this case.
