K, as the facts stand. W was and is not a victim. She died and we are left with consequences. Daughters, sisters and mothers.. Don't be in a situation you can't control. Get out as soon you can. My mother died after 25 years of physically brutality buy her HUSBAND. Let us teach our daughters of violence in which it is not their fault. My mothers husband bashed me once and I fought back. But my mother never forgave me. Gt is awful and so I'd Gerad Baden-Clay. But Gable should or could give money to WR as they had carry her body to NZ.

IMO Warriena was a victim. Tostee was charged with murder and there was a reason for that. Just because a jury couldn't find beyond reasonable doubt that GT did something with the very little evidence they had does not make Tostee innocent. The fact he threatened to throw her from the balcony prior to her death speaks volumes to me and definitely intent if Warriena didn't behave herself in Tostee's words. I will never believe this was an accident.
And yes, you are right, DV is never okay no matter who it happens to. I am sorry you lost your mother in that horrible situation, and my heartfelt condolences to you.
The problem is every relationship has a certain amount of risk attached, and someone that can seem loving and caring initially can turn into a monster after a while. We have no guarantee with that, and it is a very complex issue in our society today.

That's true Karinna and a relationship of any kind with someone who has a Cluster B Personality is the most 'risky' of all. Forewarned is forearmed:

What have his post trial actions to do with Warriena's death?

'Further, in being morally guilty there is no implication of being justifiably liable to punishment. There may be entitlement to criticize and to be resentful or indignant, but in a variety of situations where moral guilt arises, either the wrong done is not appropriately viewed as punishable, or the relationship (for example, between friends) is in no way seen as righted by punishment. What is essential for restoration in the moral sphere is such emotions and attitudes as guilt, contrition, and repentance. In addition, the objects of moral guilt differ from those generally of concern to the law. Maxims such as "the law aims at a minimum; morality at a maximum" and "the law is concerned with external conduct; morality with internal conduct" draw attention to the different emphases of law and morality. Finally, moral guilt may remain forever in doubt once all the facts are in. Moral reflection allows for the judgment that a person is and yet is not guilty; this depends on one's perspective, which is not precisely defined by any authoritative pronouncement. Thus, there is no need for moral reflection ever to come to rest.'

4 days and counting until you <modsnip> get your Tostee fix on 60 minutes.

LOL, you're so funny. I could care less about GT but the media want to keep his BS going, so all we do is respond. I wish they would just let it go and focus on something that's more important than an idiot like Tostee.

Very good article Bohemian. Thanks for posting.

Paywalled. Paraphrase please poss?

A CONVICTED standover man linked to Sydney and Gold Coast crime figures is a Glitter Strip regular who has hospitality staff on edge.

Walid Elrich, recently described in court as “the main debt collector in Australia”, was arrested on Friday night by detectives who escorted him from a swanky Soul tower suite on the Surfers Paradise beachfront.

Police swooped on Elrich after they allegedly found a gun at his residence in Auburn, Sydney.

The musclebound 34-year-old, who served time after pleading guilty to intimidating a Sydney man in relation to a $25,000 debt, spent the weekend behind bars on the Gold Coast.

This latest controversy – which cut short a $600-a-night stay at Soul – was no surprise to Surfers hospitality staff who said he was well known for frequenting *Orchid Ave bars when visiting the city and for having a reputation that preceded him.

Several staff said they treated Elrich with respect but aimed not to get too close to him or his associates.

The article opened up fine for me. The guy is said to be a heavy hitter from Sydney, and not good to get on the wrong side of. Sounds as if he's well connected too.

And this in the same article, but not sure how it ties in to GT? Does he have debts maybe?

A police spokesman yesterday confirmed two men had been arrested for damage to a door on October 3 at the Avalon apartment tower in Surfers Paradise.

Along with Elrich, detectives also arrested 31-year-old Kamel Khatib at Soul. Khatib was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon with altered identification marks.

Yeah it's not like there's a dearth of idiots for MSM to focus on or anything.

Excellent article poss. First of all, IMO in some instance the word 'feminist' has been used incorrectly in this article to imply 'misandry' as it often is in our society. These are two very different concepts:

'feminist
[fem-uh-nist]

adjective, Sometimes, feministic

1.

advocating social, political, legal, and economic rights for women equal to those of men.

noun

2.

an advocate of such rights.'

versus

'misandry*
[mis-an-dree]

noun

1.

hatred of males.

Compare misogyny.

*Related forms
misandrist
, noun, adjective'

Secondly, from the MSM article embedded in the one from your post:

'That Tinder girl': Olivia Melville speaks out about online harassment

'It quickly became apparent that this wasn't merely about social media courtesies and etiquette, but a growing cultural problem in which abuse of women online is fast becoming the norm.

According to a report released by cybersecurity company Norton, 76 per cent of women under 30 experience online harassment. One in seven women has been affected by general threats of physical violence, while a quarter of women under 30 say they've been threatened with violence online.

A 2015 United Nations report on online violence towards women found 61 per cent of perpetrators were men.'

My guess is that the upcoming 60 Minutes' interview will only serve to polarise those two camps and lead to an escalation of abuse, harassment, conflict and psychological injury and, in the worst case scenario, actual physical harm toward one another. A microcosm of the state of modern societies which we inhabit, it seems:

Alice Gorman: Why is Gable Tostee courting even more publicity?

Why would a man whose life has been dominated by the hideous events of August 2014, court more publicity and drama?

And how will the family of Warriena Wright feel when they watch his interview on TV? Have they not suffered enough?

I’ve spoken to many women who were disgusted by his decision to secretly record Warriena in his apartment; they were repulsed by the way he referred to women in online chat forums.

Tostee’s defence barrister, Saul Holt QC, told the court his client is, “a real person, a son, brother and friend … life as he knew it was over. His reputation destroyed.”

I would argue, at least he has a life to live.

Let the Wright family mourn with dignity
