Being treated for 5 years is a whole lot different than a defense psychiatrist coming up with an excuse just prior to trial. It's funny how some MSM leave things out. Now if I can just find out if he has a history of being diagnosed with autism or not.

:findinglink:

A previous bail application was denied and adjourned while Mr Tostee’s lawyers sought more evidence about their client’s mental health, and possible autism.

However, psychiatric examination diagnosed Mr Tostee not with an autism spectrum disorder but with “insecure social anxiety”, obsessive compulsive disorder, and depression, against a history of attention deficit disorder. He also has a problem with alcohol, at times drinking two thirds of a bottle of vodka a night and blacking out.

Maybe I shouldn't have put it in a quote box:

Gable, who has been treated by a psychiatrist since 2009 for 'insecure social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression' is banned from using any form of social media.

Now I'm trying to figure out how autism was brought up to begin with.

Because he used being 'partially' autistic to get out of his forgery charge years ago. And that is why Justice Debra Mullins had to get it checked out, to count it in or count it out of his current case. As it is, he is NOT on the autism spectrum at all - all checked out and confirmed.

I wonder if they are going to be able to determine whether wounds happened after Rrie died, and/or before he even met Rrie. I guess that there may be expert opinions on that. Just like in the GBC trial.

GT is a carpet layer so he might have cuts and abrasions from his job? JMO

And I guess it is possible that he had injuries from his car chase weeks before Rrie's murder. I wonder how violently that ended, seeing that he was driving on his rims after he ran over the police road spikes.

Ah, I see, it was the Judge and the Crown who brought up the autism.

"Justice Mullins said the case for murder is proving to be difficult and there may be a stronger case for manslaughter. Justice Mullins has asked for more information concerning Tostee’s diagnosis of ASD. The Justice indicated the autism diagnosis could have a bearing on what happened that night at Tostee’s apartment. Although his autism diagnosis was referenced briefly in the Crown’s documents, it was not presented by the defense."

The psychiatrist who's been treating him for 5 years disagreed.

The forgery charges were when he was a teen in high school. Correct? There was no conviction, or was it different because he was a minor?

This will all probably make more sense when we have actual testimony. Media reports aren't always reliable. Most of the time they're just trying to sensationalize a topic to get more viewers.

Justice Mullins said " I'm concerned that Mr Tostee SEEMS to have been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum somewhere and that has explained his lack of sociability.

As SA pointed out a few posts below his "partial" austism seemed to be used to assist in avoiding conviction for the forgery charge some years ago.imo

ASD has been raised and discounted.

Mr Tostee's parents did not mention his autism in their affidavits and defence barrister Tony Kimmins said he only became aware of Mr Tostee's prior diagnosis on Friday.

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/que...en-caused-by-fingernails-20140908-10e13a.html

HE WAS described by his lawyer as “partially autistic”, suffering from a *severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and having such a talent for making counterfeit money that he stunned federal investigators.

Its fantastic that we get live tweets from the courtroom. Kate and David do an awesome job relaying the info. :moo:

BBM: It may be worth noting that the source that Amee used in her initial response (below) to your question is by no means tabloid-type headline-grabbing MSM. Nor is it a smaller statewide media source. It is regarded as one of the more respected national media outlets in this country.

I’m reading the ROYALL v. THE QUEEN case that is being used as a precedent for the murder charges against Tostee. Well, it is actually the failed appeal that I am reading.

Sound familiar?

..... immediately before her fall from the window, the deceased had a well-founded and reasonable apprehension that, if she remained in the bathroom, she would be subjected to life-threatening violence from the applicant and, in order to escape from the violence, she jumped out the window

...... he said that, when the bathroom door opened, "I just saw the back of Kelly going out the window. She just jumped out.

The applicant denied that any violence was done to the deceased or that he touched her in the bathroom. Moreover, his case was that he did not cause her death or intend to injure her.

Here 18 is the legal age to drink, vote and know better. :moo:

Ive not seen in msm that he was in "high school"

In 2006, Mr Tostee and two friends used a home computer, a laminator and a scanner to run a schoolies fake ID racket that potentially netted them $30,000.

Schoolies or schoolies week

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schoolies_week

So did the counterfeit operation commence in 2004 ?

Gable Tostee says his decade long struggle with alcohol began when he started drinking excessively after attending schoolies week as a 17 year old.
That would be about 2004.
IMO it would take a while to make $30,000.

http://www.smh.com.au/national/youn...eath-in-surfers-paradise-20140809-102cap.html

Det Sup Hutchinson confirmed Mr Tostee was known to police as he and 2 friends had been part of a counterfeit operation in 2004.

BBM: That is true, soso. It would take a while to make $30,000. Maybe he did it for a few years. I thought I read somewhere how much he was selling the fake IDs for, but I can't remember now how much it was.

IMO it is interesting that in hindsight the counterfeit and the long struggle with alcohol coincide.

I wonder if they wanted/used the cash to buy grog?

Can someone tell me what year Tostee joined BBF was that 2004 as well?
