William Tyrrell’s foster father faces a lengthy two-day trial into charges he allegedly lied in a secret hearing of the state’s top crime fighting body.

William Tyrrell's Foster Dad To Face Lengthy Trial For Allegedly Lying To Crime Commission

Hmmm sounds kinda minor? He's fighting it strongly if his the one requesting a 2 day hearing. And police are willing to wait until October to hear it so can't be too urgent. He's been charged but not arrested.

Is there any possibility that FF is the witness that tipped police off to dig back in November? Or have I got my timings all wrong?

I haven't heard this but if FF & FM had a bitter break up, could he have made something up or embellished on something he did know in order to spite FM? And police have since found out the entire thing or part of it is untrue?

The November search was months in planning. Logistically it couldn't have been pulled together in 4 days imo

So much information in that article. The last sentence jumps out at me, " Police said William’s foster mother was seen driving along the road on the morning the boy vanished."

It seems to be restating what the journo from DM said on 10th March. That exact sentence is also at the end of the DM's article.

William Tyrrell cop alleges missing toddler's foster father is 'lying about something we can prove' | Daily Mail Online

(Just mentioning because that online news source "whatsnew2day" pulls together information from MSM articles - they are not an independent news source. imo )

Sure. I think we were guessing if the false statements, reported at that time may have been in relation to something else, but it seems clear in this article, they were in relation to the WT investigation amongst other points. Probably a bit clearer to me as the article mentions further suppression being lifted around this case. Unless I just didn't catch it all earlier. MOO

A 2 day trial doesn't sound particularly lengthy to me.

I think the magistrate was surprised that the FD's lawyer requested the trial in 7 months time, but it sounds as if she wants the 7 months due to ..... "There is a large amount of audio to be played from the interviews".

His lawyer is nothing to sniff at. She and her partner have been recommended by Doyles as leading criminal lawyers in 2021 and 2020, as well as rising stars in 2020 and 2019.

The alleged false statements. (He has pleaded not guilty.)

Yes, we heard before that the suppression was lifted enough to reveal the few details that we have heard.
Still not sure what the charges are about. ABC says that secret recordings are involved, as per the link in my above post.
Secret recordings and the Crime Commission doesn't make me think of a little lost boy. But who knows? Only the involved parties know, so far. imo

In November, Detective Sergeant Lonergan was one of a few detectives who carried out a four-week dig of bushland about a kilometre from the Benaroon Drive property where William went missing.

Karen Webb was announced as the new Police Commissioner at the same time and said she was confident of a "result" but it would "take time".

"Confident of a result." How many times have we heard that from NSW Police?

BBM - Far too many times to ever believe them.

Perhaps NSWPOL don't think he is a little lost boy. They think he is no longer living.

I am trying to wrap my head around what the FF allegedly lied about and why. He did so to protect himself and/or the FM presumably.

It was “four days before the search” according to the recent news articles. Could he have been trying to throw searchers off the scent and have them search in the wrong area?

I am also curious why Daily Mail is showing pictures and referencing TJ. A previous poster had a theory that WT may have have been handed over to someone, all of which was prearranged.

Do we know if the public can attend the hearing in October?

of course. But the Crime Commission doesn't routinely involve themselves in ~normal~ murders, only those associated with organised crime*.

The only thing I can think of is if the police do suspect the foster carers, then the money they've raised through the Where's William campaigns might be seen as a 'proceeds of crime' situation, and the Crime Commission does have under its purview, the recovery of assets of crime. Running a campaign to raise money to help find a child you'd murdered would be fraud.

I'm writing hypothetically here and am not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just putting that forward as maybe where the police are going with all this.

*yes there are other cases eg cases where there has been a police inquiry

Secret audio recordings would likely mean surveillance material IMO. As we found out when Jubelin was prosecuted for illegal use of surveillance there are very strict laws/criteria on issuing a warrant for surveillance.
I am unsure if it changes things once the NSW crime Commission is in the picture… given they have the power to compel people to give evidence as has been outlined in posts previously and in MSM regarding their unique role.

I wonder why it is though that he has been charged by the unsolved homicide detective who is involved in Williams case?
