The FM said in the 60 minutes interview that the washing machine was due to be fixed but when she got to her mother's house the washing was already piling up so she phoned BS to see if he could get the part earlier and left a message. If he got the message then he could surmise that the family had arrived at foster grandmother's house.

Mr Spedding became entangled in the investigation as he visited William's grandmother's home four days before he went missing for a washing machine repair quote.

A close friend said the tradesman had to source a spare part* but never installed it after failing to get in contact with William's grandmother on the morning of September 12.

In the afternoon he called again and spoke to William's mother, during the early stages of a frantic search for her son.

"She said to Bill `I am afraid you won't be able to come to do the job, we will call when we are able'," his friend said.
-.-.-
* Don't find a link but I think BS planned to have got the spare part until Thursday. He couldn't have come to Benaroon Dr. before Friday then, I would think. FM arrived Thursday evening; why would she have called BS with her bid for coming "earlier" ("earlier" than what day?).

Just found a link re "Thursday/spare part":

Colin said Mr Spedding had visited William's grandmother's house on Monday, September 8, but needed to order a part, which then arrived three days later - on Thursday September 11.

He said when Mr Spedding got in touch with the family on Friday, the day that William went missing, he initially couldn't get a hold of the grandmother.

It was also revealed at the time that Spedding had claimed to relatives that William’s grandmother told him she was expecting a visit from the child and his family later in the week and needed her washing machine fixed in anticipation.

Soso, would you be able to link to the April article when it was revealed? I've looked and I can't find it.

ONLY days before William Tyrrell was abducted, his grandmother told repairman Bill Spedding she was expecting a stay-over visit from her family and could he fix her faulty washing machine.
That revelation calls into question toddler William’s trip to the mid north coast being a total “surprise” that nobody other than his parents could have known about.....

Mr Spedding has claimed to relatives and police he was never due to visit Kendall on the day three-year-old William vanished, September 12, 2014, and was simply calling to say the part needed to repair the washing machine had arrived.

FromGermany Sorry what I meant is that the FM phoned BS to see how early the part could be got.
My point is if BS didn't know beforehand exactly when FM and family were arriving, he knew on Friday morning Sep 12 that they were there if he got FM's message.
FM's exact words from the 60 minute interview were "when we arrived on the thursday night mum already had washing piling up so I thought I would phone in the morning and just find out when the part had arrived and when he was coming back to install the part
so I called and left a message".

That's if this is the correct sequence of events:

 • FM and family arrive early Thursday 11 Sep to Benaroon Drive.

 • FM phones BS Friday am 12 sep and leaves a message.

 • Approx 1030 am Friday 12 sep William is no longer around.
 • At some time on Fri, Sep 12, BS phones the foster GM and can't get her.
"he initially couldn't get a hold of the grandmother."

 • He calls again later on Sep 12 and FM answers and says they'll call him when he can do it.
"He's rung them again because he couldn't get them in the morning," Colin said.
"Then [William's] mother answered it and said, 'Oh I'm afraid, look I'm afraid you can't come and do it at the moment - we will give you a call when we can'."

I agree with what's being generally said. Even if BS didn't know the family was expected, a washing machine repair is at least semi-urgent, and he was "due" to go back there as soon as reasonably possible once the part had arrived. The part had arrived Thursday and the customer was chasing him. He was due back, he ought to have phoned either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning and made an appointment, and if he'd got through before William's vanishing he would have been pressured to come Friday. I can cut BS some slack over being lazy. But's disingenous for him and his son to say that he wasn't supposed to have been at the house on Friday.

BS attended the house on Tuesday, gave a quote and sourced a part that was needed. The part was available by Thursday. Don't know what time of the day it became available or if it was delivered to him or if he had to pick it up. Friday morning the FM calls and according to BS he returned that call and couldn't get through and then rang again and was told not to come that day. I don't really find it disingenuous. The part about sourcing a part as opposed to ordering a part makes me wonder if he rang around or met up with a scrap metal dealer to get a working part for a washing machine and then I think of TJ. MOO

OK, if he didn't actually have the part, that makes a difference.

But evidently he thought he could get it quickly because he's reported to have said that he was relieved not to have to do the job over the weekend. Yet he claims to have spent Friday morning sitting around doing coffee, not collecting the part, even though he had other plans for the afternoon.

It's hard to believe we are nearly at thread number 26 and no significant developments and most importantly no sign of William. I wonder how Detective Jublin and colleagues feel about the case now.

Yes he attended that house at the end of that long dead end street in Kendall.
Had the part in his hot little hand as CY would say sometime on Thursday.

According to a relative, the first time Mr Spedding had mentioned the baffling case was when he saw William’s grandmother’s home on television news reports and said “hey, I think I’ve been there”.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...l/news-story/97a47cc5fe384c2fbf91c2f87488c9fa

All that alleged phone communication between BS and nana's phone on the very day WT disappeared.

Police had taken a statement from Mr Spedding, along with dozens of *locals, soon after William’s disappearance as part of their investigation.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...e/news-story/73350ebd1be700109fa5a5eb5bb06d0c

And BS deleted his phone log.....I agree frog links to who?

Did CY say that?! He is a jewel.

If not, Soso's the jewel. Thanks for the chuckle.

Yes that knockabout, gun barrel - straight bloke. Now the reluctant spokesman for his mate. Did indeed say that. But it was in reference to the coffee receipt he downloaded.
The one that the police had no clue about evidently, until good ol' Col downloaded it and plonked it in BS hot little hand.:burn:

I am waiting for the fireworks Col has predicted when BS is legal allowed to make a statement.

Does anyone here regularly delete their phone records? Why?
1) I have no reason
2) I've got nothing to hide.

"Police seized his telephone records and those of William’s grandmother as they have checked his statement that he had a missed call from the grandmother that morning and tried to call back but could not get through.

A friend of Mr Spedding’s said yesterday that police had questioned Mr Spedding about
“why the phone calls were no longer in the call log on his mobile phone.”

A friend? Would that be Ol' Bucketmouth Col?

My understanding is a lot of people clear their logs so their partners don't ask question them about certain communications. It would be futile to do it to cover something illegal as police can just seize phone records. What is annoying is what is not reported. Was there a discrepency between his records and his statement? MOO

Maybe frog.
Just thinking outside the square for a bit.

Among those statements was the one from Mr Spedding. Detectives allegedly found some inconsistencies in what he told them, which led them to the surprise raids on the tradesman’s former first-floor pawnbroking office in Laurieton and his Bonny Hills home last week.
“What he said did not add up because people he named did not remember seeing him,” a source alleged..............

What if BS said he made the calls in his statement.
They were not in the phone log during the interview soon after William disappeared. His friend said he was question as to why the calls were no longer in his log. Maybe they never were.

Records checked ..... hmmm :liar: No phone calls to nana in records and the people he named did not remember seeing him.

Maybe the phone records flushed enough out to warrant a search of his offices home and cars.

I just keep thinking those cars were kept very secret for a long time. That strategy was developed at pace it would seem.
imo

it seems there was an almost immediate lockdown of information released, so was it immediately declared a crime scene, obviously not just a little boy lost in the bush? there were specialist police and crew there within a day or two, while all the searches were being done

Was the vacant pawn shop and flat with mattress and computers at Laurieton being used as "headquarters" for the *advertiser censored* and paedophilia etc.???

"there was an almost immediate lock-down of information released" because of the laws governing foster families.
It wasn't declared a crime scene immediately, as most people firstly thought William might have just wandered off and got lost. The specialist crew were there within a day, because after 24 hours there was no sign of William,so they knew it wasn't just a case of a toddler wandering off and getting lost, and that something more sinister may have occurred.
At 2.35pm detectives are dispatched from Port Macquarie and begin taking statements. One of them speaks to a colleague, Detective Senior Constable Vanessa Partridge, back at Port Macquarie late that afternoon; they are worried something more sinister may have taken place. Partridge arrives very early the next day, and already there are people out on *horseback, on bicycle, on foot, searching for *William. His dad is out there with them, and will be for days, thinking, “Surely if he is out here in the bush he’ll be found?”
Arriving at the house on Benaroon Drive, *Partridge is thinking, “Something just doesn’t feel right about this whole thing.”
