I’ve never taken it too seriously, the two cars FFC claimed to have seen, always thought it might have been a police tactic, but if they were actually there, I’d suspect it was someone visiting nocturnal man.
Maybe he was local drug dealer, he must have had something inhis ceiling if ladder underneath.
Can anyone come up with a logical reason for the box thing over window.

I've wondered if it was a homemade marijuana grow box, after some research on my suspicions. They require warmth.

Police arrived to search the house and surrounding area and the scene descended into "pandemonium", the foster grandmother stated at the time.

"I can't think of anyone who would want to harm William," she said, noting local police officer Wendy Hudson first asked the question.

"I suggested (a neighbour) across the road (as he keeps odd hours and lives alone).

"Wendy assures me that she has checked him out thoroughly."


The neighbour was investigated and ruled out as a suspect, according to police sources.

The foster grandmother, in the same police statement, said she was also concerned William might have made his way to nearby Batar Creek Road which had "lots of traffic moving back and forth".

I always thought that the ladder was there after installing the fake owl (to scare vermin).

Logic defies...? Maybe a doomsday prepper? To prevent annoying peewees smashing into the glass? Simply paranoid ? Not sure us everyday folk would ever understand.

All the different POIs, all the different possible scenarios.. is it possible that they could all be linked?

The extremely high number of convicted sex offenders in and around Kendall that day.. it’s not a long stretch to assume there may also have been a number of non-convicted sex offenders in the area that day. Early on in the investigation there were concerns raised about a pedophile ring operating in the area. What if somebody who lived in Benaroon Drive was tasked with watching and waiting, informing the others of best opportunity? And when a window of opportunity arises, there are multiple individuals ready to spring into action?

So an individual seizes the opportunity to snatch William, immediately contacts others. William is drugged.. maybe placed in a roof cavity, hidden in a car, taken to a caravan location or another secluded place in the bush. Transport is needed to get him out of there.. perhaps a female with blonde hair has been tasked with this job? Female sex offenders are far less likely, but when they do offend it’s often due to coercion from a male co-offender. Perhaps the police request for information is directed at her, as the most likely to have a conscience?

Maybe he’s then taken to a secret location, a number of sick individuals have access to him. It’s highly likely that he would not survive for very long. This is all horrible to consider, and all JMO of course.

You doubt what? That she was the driver seen by Mr Chapman or that anyone knows who she is or that she's a police dog handler?

I feel that Mr Chapman's evidence implicating a female, while not unassailable, deserves more attention. While I was thinking this I realized I was staring right at a female who fitted the description. She's not a POI, I don't want to publish her name and address, but I'd like to know whether she's a near neighbour, or someone who answered LH's SM call, or a police dog handler, or what.

I doubt that she is Police Dog handler, which was the main point in your question. The second point was, who is she, which we can't respond to as she isn't a POI at this point.

From what I've seen all dog handlers seem to be uniformed.

She does however fit the description of the woman Mr Chapman sighted.

Im sure PS knew more about the comings and goings in his immediate neighbourhood than anyone, what with his daily walks and postie obsession. Plus he probably knew everyone.
I’m convinced he saw something, especially if William was taken before postie arrived.
I want to know when postie came as PS probably watched closely.
i want to know what PS did before retirement.
I want to know why that cardboard thing was across neighbours window.
I want to know if PS is frightened of someone.

The inquest has left me with more questions than answers.

I think he was a machinist.. he was in the 80s anyway from electoral rolls

We've been hearing of or from a number of cognitively deficient males. A group living together in Taree one or some of whom were RD's victims. And MM, it appears. I wonder what happens to cognitively deficient women. There ought to be as many around. Physically adult but deemed incapable of sexual consent. Prevented from having their own family but perhaps much moved by the sight of small children; enough to steal one. But then what? And what would she have been doing in Benaroon Drive?

No, box window guy is not Paul Savage. It was his next door neighbour - an ex-taxi driver - who also lived right across the road from FGM, in what we called 'the creepy house'.
The one that FGM initially thought could be the culprit ... but police searched his home 3 times in the first 24 hours and found nothing.
He moved away sometime after William disappeared.

From his house directly opposite William’s grandmother’s former home, an elderly man named Paul (surname withheld for privacy reasons) and his son, Sean, have watched long-time friends and neighbours slowly drift away from Benaroon Drive.“A lot of them have moved,” he says. “One bloke left because he felt intimidated by the police. He had a few problems. He wasn’t a crook or a bad bloke, just a bit of a loner. He wanted out.”

“A recluse,” says Sean. “I think all of the attention sort of frightened him.”
“They were coming around checking everything and he got scared,” Paul says. “Just the fear of that.” He shrugs his shoulders. “You got to let them do their job and they’re still following up on everything. They’re doing a good job.”

This makes me uneasy. Exactly when was the roof cavity of this man’s house searched? Why on earth would you not search it as soon as you saw the ladder? Remember that it was some time before road blocks were put up and residents were free to come and go for a period of time. Would it be that hard to hide a child in a roof (possibly drugged or unconscious?) then place him in your car and move him later? Horrible thought and all JMO, but it all seems plausible to me. As does the possibility that PS could have hidden him.

ETA: the coroner has also looked at the possibility that William was hidden within the street and moved sometime later, since PS was questioned about the hole in his yard and the visibility through his car windows.

I wouldn't have thought that "not appearing to have been opened recently " is good enough reason to not check?

I wouldn't have thought that "not appearing to have been opened recently " is good enough reason to not check?

I agree, how accurate was that officer’s assessment.. and based on what? Assumption bias may have played a significant role in what the officer saw. He assumed it hadn’t been opened in a while, so did not expect to see anything relating to William. In the interests of being thorough, the entire roof cavity should have been checked. IMO

1. Blood find

• She told us a male in a white ute had been sitting off the side (of the road) watching the actions of police around the ‘blood find’ for about 15 minutes,” the officer said.

2. Search of neighbours home (boxed window man)

• No one answered the door. But the officers saw a wooden box installed over what they assumed was a side window. I

• The officer noticed a ladder leading up to a manhole in the laundry ceiling. “I looked inside the roof cavity but did not climb in,”
• The next morning, Sen Const Rowley returned a third time to search the home with a detective and another officer.
  
• The man told Sen Const Rowley he was in poor health and had “sleep patterns” left over from his time as a taxi driver.

I know this has been asked previously, and I thought I'd seen in a article that this was ps but can't see any confirmations. Does anyone know if box window is Paul Savage? (Whom then becomes nocturnal guy? TIA!)

because (as we are now at liberty with) the police, the FFG would have all been clued up about creepy PS stalking the postie and having the AVO out on him that he breached.
he also appears to be a nosy parker. oddball.

imo LE wouldn't have been all that warm and fuzzy toward PS.

Thanks Karrina. For some reason most articles that suggest this do not follow through with the revelation! Edit.. media brought up again post receipt of court document, in may 2019.

My interest, probably is more so the interest of the ute driver watching regardless as they would not have known what had been found.
