I'm just annoyed / frustrated / angry / sad how this case is turning out & the fact that the " top brass" are so protected & untouchable, couldn't even get on the stand to defend themselves .............doesn't seem fair or right to me.:mad:

Anyway logging out......
IMO theyre not on trial, they didnt break the law.

Coroner says former detective cannot give evidence
Peter O'Brien, a lawyer acting for Bill Spedding, a person of interest in the investigation, made an application on Friday to add former detective Gary Jubelin and other senior police who led the investigation to the witness list.

The former detective was stood down from the investigation over allegations he unlawfully recorded conversations without a warrant and has pleaded not guilty.

Mr O'Brien described the investigation as "frustrating and damaging" for his client.
"He and the rest of the community are entitled to know whether it could have been done better," he said.
But Deputy state coroner Harriet Grahame rejected the application and said her "primary focus and greatest hope" was to find out what happened to three-year-old William.
"It is not the time for trying to discover, on a piecemeal basis, if the investigation went down a wrong track," she said.
"If there is a need to look at the adequacy of the investigation, it is not now."
Ms Grahame said calling the senior officers would be "unwieldy" and would cause the inquest to lose focus.

William Tyrrell inquest hears SES volunteer Robert Donohoe did not answer police questions - ABC News

Doesn’t appear there was any plans to call GJ in to the inquest (That seems odd and unhelpful to the inquest personally) but maybe that will change now. Don’t see it given these comments, but can hope. William needs all the help he can get. MOO

few points paraphrased from CO latest article.

* No warrant in place for the 4th recording 28/12/2018 Cuneen conceded when PS called GJ

* At the time of this call GJ was on leave spending time with his recently widowed mother.

* He was not on duty, was not in Sydney and not a week to get a warrant.

* GJ called his commander and was not told not to go.

* He went on his own to see PS hoping for answers. The recording was not used because nothing untoward happened.

The evidence in Mr Jubelin’s trial is now complete.

A verdict will be delivered on 6 April.
(Mark your Diary folkes..)

I’ve just caught up on the latest. Thanks to everyone for posting Jubes hearing and all updates. Far out! I’m hoping the coroner requests info from Gary for the inquest- how could she possibly not. He’s well versed on this entire case and the best hope at solving this.

Sorry if this has been discussed- I was curious and checked Benaroon drive via google earth, and I’m not getting how ps could have heard William and his sister “the children playing” from his home. There’s quite a bit of distance between the houses, and PS house is set back with amble frontage on his block. Was it possible for him to hear them?

Totally agree... and with all of those undercover operatives watching his every move.... how could the Police possibly lose him in Kendall??? Its not like its a large city...….
Where's William Tyrrell? Bring Him Home - Official

FOSTER FAMILY STATEMENT ISSUED DOWNING CENTRE 14-2-2020 4:20pm

It’s now been more than 5 years and 5 months since William disappeared.

During this time there has been a small incredibly dedicated group of police led by Gary Jubelin who have consistently demonstrated complete professionalism and integrity, with every single person focused solely on finding out what happened to William whilst trying to maneuver the internal politics going on behind the scenes. This team of dedicated police never lost sight of the fact that this was about a beautiful happy 3 year old little boy who may never have the chance to become the man he deserves to be.

Despite the enormity of the investigation, public awareness and the 1 million dollar reward, we still don’t have answers and are now forced to rely on the Coronial Inquest to critically examine William’s case in the search for answers.

During the NSW Police case against Gary Jubelin, when Magistrate Ross Hudson allowed critical information relating to William’s investigation to become publicly known, and paused proceedings to ask a police witness, “has this information been provided to the Coroner?” only to hear the word “NO”, concerns over the police’s management of the information provided to the Coroner raises a number of questions including;
1. Why did the then head of Homicide, Mr Scott Cook advise us that William’s case had been directed to unsolved crimes when the Inquest had only just begun?
2. Why has the lead investigator with the greatest knowledge of the investigation not been called to give evidence?
3. Why was the line of inquiry into Mr Savage not fully explored during Tranche 2?
4. Why do Mr Savage’s movements around the time of William’s disappearance remain unaccounted for?
5. Where did Mr Savage go for two hours after he saw the Spiderman suit on the 26th July 2017.
6. Why was Mr Savage ruled out as a line of enquiry by police following Gary Jubelin’s removal from the case when there was no evidence to support this direction?
7. Why were senior police declaring “it’s a waste of time and it will never be solved?” prior to the outcomes of the Inquest.

We hope that Ms Graeme explores these and other serious questions in greater detail in Tranche 3.

Overall, we hold grave concerns regarding the cavalier way in which police leadership have viewed William’s abduction over the past two years. And, we hold deep fears for those families coming behind us and question how they might trust senior Police to put their personal agendas, ambitions and bias aside to focus on solving these horrendous crimes.

There needs to be greater transparency and accountability within NSW Police which can only be achieved through institutional change.

Today, 5 years and 5 months on, we want to remind Australians that this is about a little boy called William Tyrrell. William is loved. He is missed every single day. William needs to come home.
foster family just want their lil boy back home, where he should be, where he belongs..
question.. Does fm know about the 2hr unaccounted for in July 2017 from GJ trial or has she been aware of this information for some time? Not that it matters either way..
Also are we certain that the March inquest is still a go ahead?

Gary Jubelin trial: Prosecutor urges judge to find former detective guilty of illegal in William Tyrrell investigation.

“No police officer is above the law.”

With those words, Crown prosecutor Phil Hogan urged the magistrate in the Downing Centre local court to find former detective Gary Jubelin guilty of breaching the Surveillance Devices Act by recording four conversations with a “person of interest” in the William Tyrrell case without the proper warrant being in place.

Nothing black and white about William Tyrrell case.

Police tend to keep at least one key piece of information, something only the killer would know, away from the public. In the case of missing foster child William Tyrrell, it had to do with the suit he was wearing.

How many times have you heard that he was dressed, when he went missing, in a Spider-Man suit? The photograph shows him in the suit — red and blue, with black stripes. The spider on the back, though, that was not black. It was bright white. Until this week, hardly anyone knew that.

William Tyrrell foster family slam 'cavalier' police work

Jubelin had proved himself an honest man and Mr Savage's privacy had already been taken away by the NSW Supreme Court through surveillance warrants, Ms Cunneen said.

She said Jubelin's prosecution was an extraordinary attack on "a veteran homicide investigator with a totally unblemished record as a police officer who, if he has committed an offence, has done so in the dogged and determined and professional exercise of his duty".

So what is the verdict? After the last couple weeks in court what are people's thoughts to what verdict will come through in April?

You have to wonder DS what this lot have said/commented on other missing people/ suspected homicide cases that are not in the public eye. I can only imagine,

GJ will be having a cup of tea with the coroner im thinking, evidence as in NSW Police.. they didnt believe GJ ? and the FF said they would never give up on William and will fight for ever for him..brilliant work..

It reminds me of the Morcombe case (as in the amount of support and perseverance by communities and his family) and if that is the case, lets hope we have an outcome and answers and bring William home.

IMO A couple of things could happen. I can't see any way for GJ to avoid a charge relating to recording without a warrant. Even considering all the reasons.

I personally understand why he felt he needed to immediately go to see PS when PS called him. Building rapport with PS was important at the time, we've heard.

IMO I think there's a lot the public isn't seeing. So it'll be interesting to see what the focus is on at the inquest in March.

Personally hoping that the worst case scenario is a fine.
