Or it was the wife that made the tip that promoted this new search and they wanted him out of the way so they could talk to her. Stab in the dark I know but that's my guess

Stranger things have happened. I would bet the police knew he had already left.

Maybe they are playing/rattling him........

Could have organised a "job" for him where he would have to drive past the search site to get to and then also deliberately went to his house at a time he wouldn't be there knowing it would be reported in the media straight away and he would hear about it pretty quickly.

Am I getting carried away..........?

I wonder what those objects were that police found yesterday.. I know the bones were animal but they found other stuff too. Media hype or merit? Could be the reason for the visit to Bonney Hills this morning

Interesting that Detective Jubelin drove past BS residence just before BS left to go to work, then Jubelin returned to pay a visit. Well he obviously knew BS wasn't going to be home so its fairly obvious who he was speaking to.
Does anyone know more about what happens when police receive anonymous tip offs. Surely they couldn't act on every single piece of info. Do they have to receive more than one call to act or would it depend on the information? Just trying to work out how they actually work out the real info from the rubbish.

AIMO

Some people just don't read newspapers or watch TV news. Also despite what some say IMO there has been very little in MSM (just a flurry of articles initially, then when WS came to light and now with the search, but it's still not in the top 10 articles on most sites. Also it says he went to a corporate venue (pub or hotel) and then a factory so I doubt any children around.

Yes, but a small close knit community like that, everyone would know what was going on - word of mouth. In any case, do we actually know for fact he's been going to "jobs"? I wouldn't be surprised if a certain amount of it is play acting - him making out that he hasn't lost work and everything is "as normal". Obviously there will always be people who will still support him regardless unless he's actually arrested, but my bet is that the majority of people would be somewhat cautious. Or ... people may specifically get him to come and do work, rather than call someone else, just so they can eyeball him out of curiosity and have a good yarn with their friends/neighbours. You know what they say about bad publicity ...

I guess it depends how little evidence they have on him I guess. Police got "carried away" with the morcombe case but they got the perp as a result

Yeah, what's with that???? The media have spelt it that way since day one without a peep from the police. I thought it was being mispelt deliberately to protect his identity or something. Is something about to happen?
Your thoughts mirror mine exactly Angeline. Why all of a sudden are they worried about being correct? I have a feeling something big is coming......

BBM - That they did. I was incredibly impressed by it.

Could they be about to arrest him and have gone to the wife's to do her the courtesy of letting her know? I highly doubt it but you never know. I am so hoping this case is on the precipice of being blown wide open!!

Took the words right out of my mouth (well my fingers I guess! lol), in a community that small you wouldn't need to be up-to-date with the news because word spreads fast. Chinese whispers make stories different to what they are too so who knows the accuracy of what the locals have been told from other locals.

The media reported that he attended three other locations after leaving home to go to work jobs @ 8.30am...those places were located in Laurieton.

So when his van was then spotted going past the search site (being set up) was he or had he already been back to Bonny Hills and was heading out to the Pacific Hwy for another job???

If he was using that road after the jobs in Laurieton to head back to Bonny Hills....it makes zero sense as that would be a mighty big detour to go back to Bonny Hills.

Anyone know which way he was heading when he went past the search site??

I doubt Spedding could sit around all day in his house with all of this going on. He must be climbing the walls. His wife too.

I suspect the police just stopped by to ‘update’ Mrs Spedding about the ongoing search. See if she is ‘okay’. Ask if there is anything they can do to ‘help’. Gently appeal to her sense of propriety .. that there are parents out there in absolute anguish, that need the help of anyone who can help. Remind her that people who do not come forward could be seen as an accomplice. Tell her that they are very 'close' to an arrest.

Pressure, pressure, friendly pressure ….

I hope there's an arrest coming soon but I'd doubt that was the reason for the visit. Way too risky

Definitely agree. God this is bringing back buried memories of my childhood growing up with a cop for a dad... I couldn't get away with ANYTHING

Ok need someone with better legal knowledge than I have:
If police visited the Spedding home after BS had left to chat with Mrs. S, and possibly left some recording devices around, don't they need a warrant for that so any evidence would be admissible? If so, then they must have probable cause? So a lot they are not saying and keeping close to their chests. I believe they're trying to rattle their POI and his family members.
I also thought it was odd the way Mrs S worded her reply about the original search: "I am confident because they won't find anything related to William" or words to that effect. Surely most people would say "because he's innocent!" not imply that he had covered his tracks too well.

Yup... Mine was an attorney. Try sneaking back home late at night and finding your dad sitting in the kitchen, waiting to 'cross examine' you.

I don't think so, I think the kids are still removed. But I could be wrong
