bbm: in the first article about the phone call confession, JR indicated that he didn't want anyone to put more $ on his books and that the phone calls would end because he doesn't want to talk on the phone anymore to anyone

''In a second call between Justin Rector and his father, which took place on Nov. 14, Justin Rector told his father he didn't wish to visit with or even speak with anyone anymore''

still looking for the reference to $$ link -- have been unable to find it...but was pretty sure it was in first article before it was updated. MOO

Yep I was actually talking about when he told his dad not to put money on his books for phonecalls. It seemed a bit manipulative to me. Maybe I'm just being cynical.
Glad Tania is back in jail. Wonder what happened there.

this article is 3 days old but it does include a reference to a postcard to JR's father which also included taking responsibility:

'"The documents released to several Arizona and Nevada media outlets state Rector allegedly wrote and sent a postcard to his father, James Rector, telling him he needed to take responsibility''

the article is interesting as the writer asks if JR has any hope of receiving a fair trial in that county -

Thank you so much for the news!

Duh, I ended up going to answers.com to understand what a bond surrender is:

A bond surrender is when a bonding company or surety relieves themselves of the bond obligation, and returns the defendant to jail. Reasons of a bond surrender may vary. Generally means the defendant either missed a court date or violated a bond condition while out on bail.

So... I still don't quite understand but it seems that she was recalled to jail, not arrested on new charges. The Bullhead City Bee promised to update as more info is known.

Here's newone's link again - I'll leave it to someone smarter than me to figure it out:

How will this affect her high-risk pregnancy which she was released for in the first place? Maybe the jail can now better accommodate her medical needs? Or is this all about money?

“A bonding company delivered Grogan directly to the jail,” said Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Patricia Carter. There is no record of any violations of the terms of Grogan’s bail.

It is the policy of Mohave County not to release the name of the individual posting bond or the name of the bonding company.

Clear as mud. The article said she was returned to jail after a revocation of bond. So if there is no record of violations in the terms, and TG hasn't committed another crime then... what?

Prosecutor
A prosecutor may decide to revoke a bond, generally in cases where the prosecutor has information that the defendant has been threatening, harassing, intimidating, or causing physical harm to another person, and those threats or harm pose a potential risk to the case.

Bail Bondsman
Bail bondsmen... can revoke a bond for just about any reason, at any time after the agreement is made. In most cases they will not exercise this power, but in some cases where they believe that the person will likely jump bail, or if they get additional information that changes their mind about the risk level involved in providing bail bonds for the defendant, they will revoke a bail bond.

Courts
Even though a bail bondsman or prosecutor can revoke bail, ultimately it is up to the courts to rule on whether or not you should get the option to bail out. If you follow your bail agreement as outlined, and avoid any trouble with the law, the courts will usually not revoke bail.

Speculation only! Maybe one of the terms for her release was that she gets drug-tested and she failed a test?

KINGMAN — The new attorney for a Bullhead City murder suspect is questioning whether or not the Superior Court judge could be impartial.
...
Gavin wasted little time in making his presence known in the case. In one motion, Gavin asked Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen to look for any evidence that the judge might not be impartial in the case and to excuse himself as the judge. One issue clouding the appearance of impartiality is if the judge accepted employment or has any links to attorneys with the prosecutor’s office. Jantzen was once a prosecutor with the county attorney’s office before being appointed judge in 2007.

You can read the motions filed by Rector's new attorney here:

http://www.mohavecourts.com/highprofile/highprofileRector.htm

Gavin filed a motion asking Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen to deny any contact between law enforcement or its agents with Rector unless his attorney is present.
...
“I want to give a full confession,” Rector printed by hand on the official Mohave County Jail Inmate Request Form addressed to McPhillips. “Mr. Moore told me you requested to talk to me but won’t let it happen. Can he prevent this meeting (words scratched out) from taking place just because he disagrees? Even though everyone is OK with it exept (sic) him? Im (sic) willing to do this in his presence! Please respond and thank you for your time.”
...
McPhillips argued in his motion that the defendant — not the defense counsel — can waive his right to remain silent and speak with authorities. The motion implied that Rector had been denied that right by previous counsel and McPhillips was concerned that Gavin also was attempting to make decisions on Rector’s behalf that went against his client’s wishes.

Apparently Rector's old attorney and his new one want to keep him from speaking with the prosecutor.

The three phone calls took place on October 31, November 4 and November 14. His motion to represent himself was filed on November 3. He withdrew the request on December 9.

On November 10 Rector requested to speak with McPhillips. It also looks like the "kite" that I so royally misunderstood was the note from Rector asking about whether Moore could prevent him from talking to McPhillips. That was filed on November 28.

A motion filed on March 11 (in response to Rector's attorney's March 9 motion) asserts that Rector can waive his right to silence and his attorney cannot prevent it. No ruling on the motion yet.

This all started way back and is just coming to light, most likely because of the change in defense attorneys so there's no way of knowing if Rector still wants to come clean. It'll be interesting to follow this tug of war...

Not looking like we're going to see a guilty plea coming anytime soon but we can still hope. Next status hearing is tomorrow.

From Friday, March 20:

Prosecutors in the case of a murdered 8-year-old girl are asking a Superior Court judge to deny a defense motion to require Bullhead City police officers to provide all evidence.
...
Rector’s next hearing is set for Wednesday. His trial is set to begin Oct. 17, 2016, with a pre-trial hearing set for Aug. 23, 2016.

http://www.mohavedailynews.com/news...cle_19336cb6-ced1-11e4-b13b-af950e888110.html

From March 24 (today):

Justin James Rector’s defense attorneys, Gerald Gavin and Ron Gilleo, are asking Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen to be able to go to the site where Isabella Grogan-Cannella’s body was found.

Gavin also asked to view her parent’s Lakeside Drive home and vehicle.

Inspecting the scenes would allow more effective interviews of state witness and be better prepared for trial, the defense suggested.

You beat me to it. :)

Mr. Rector does not want to communicate with the assigned county attorney; Mr. Rector reinvokes his right to silence, and his right to be represented by defense counsel. Mr. Rector wants all communication from the assigned deputy county attorney, or any State agent, regarding this case, to be directed to his undersigned defense counsel, not him.

Totally change in plan there JR -- dang it.....

oh well back to the mental instability defence I guess.....

Taking time to read the plea, the wording sounds ''petulant''.........((as in hissy fit))
