Jahessye was last seen by her three older siblings -- ages 6, 9 and 12 -- at their apartment nearly two weeks ago while their mother, Jerice Hunter, said she was out running an errand. She said she left her three older children doing chores in the backyard and locked Jahessye inside so she would be safe.

from your link Belimom. I wonder if this is accurate or just an assumption on the reporter's part? Also, I have seen the oldest sibling as reported to be 13, wonder which age is the accurate one.

Looks like someone touched a nerve with "mom"!!! LOL --in this report she was "rushing" out of the house? ---now WHY would she be--"rushing"...

In the interview she gave on the radio...she said she needed to rush because the cab had come early and was waiting for her for awhile

That is the only thing she has said that makes sense to me. (sorry) :(

It seems like she has changed her story more than several times -it just isn't fair :(

I still cannot get over the fact that she was not in school that day and no one from the media has questioned it

Is it just me, or does it seem all the missing children lately were "sick" when reported missing. We don't know if Jahessye was, but she was home from school. And supposedly Alliaya was sick, as well as baby Lisa.

Missing girl's mom speaks out at Capitol march

he family of Jhessye Shockley met outside the Capitol Monday to, in their words, "Bring awareness to the community and to government officials."

It was the most visible Jhessye's mother, Jerice Hunter, has been since the search for her missing girl launched on Oct. 11.

She told reporters that the Glendale Police Department has been, "Totally uncooperative," has been, "Keeping her in the dark," and has, "Kept her children away from her."

I think it is not the fact that the family is speaking out that has my hinky meter bugging me, so much as it is the content of what they are speaking out about.

How do I put this delicately? I think the speaking they are doing is more critical of LE and the media and racial commentary and the removal of the other kids than about Jhessye coming home KWIM?

I can't help thinking of what my grandpa used to say. Sometimes a good defense is a good offense.

All this talk, particularly from grandma, seems to be about deflecting attention from mom's story which is not adding up more and more as each day passes, the removal of the other children and less about actually finding this beautiful little girl who is missing. I can't help but wonder if all this talk is designed to get out ahead of something that is coming and deflect attention from that by giving the impression that nobody cares about finding Jhessye and only wants to "persecute" mom.

Thank you, that makes sense.

I wonder if that is how the <people involved> were able to get away with other members of the family not seeing this person? "Oh, don't go in your sister's room - she's still sick" or "Your sister is still sleeping - she's not feeling well", etc. Kwim?

I am reminded of the Zahra Baker case. Remember when ZB's father claimed not to know his daughter was missing because EB kept telling him Z was sick and resting?

Little Aliayah, - sick/diarrhea
Little Lisa - cold/cough

and yes, a sick, resting child could deter people from disturbing or setting eyes on her.

so I wonder how long it takes someone to go to a payday loan company, do their business, and get out.
Aren't they usually a never ending cycle of continuous advancements and payments?
It didn't sound like this was Mom's first cab ride to PLS.

I've only taken a cab to and from an airport, lol.

Isn't a cab a pretty expensive way to get around? I mean hello, look where she was going? :waitasec:

good point

YAY! a local.....I would hug you if I could :grouphug:
It helps so much when we have someone familiar with the area! I'm sure we are gonna have lots of questions for you.
Please let us know about the yard......it's driving me crazy.

Ok, so I would guess the yard is about 10ft by 15 ft, but kinda hard to tell the length of the yard at night.

When I drove by there were three women standing on the corner of 45th avenue and Glendale holding up missing flyers, and few others placing candles at the corner. Very sad to see.

To any reporters reading here.....Mom wants exposure so give her exposure.
We have the following questions we would like answered in your interview

1. Why was Jhessye home from school that day? Was she in bed sick? Were the other children in school that day?
2. How often did the older children have to do yard work?
3. When was the last time anyone outside of the home saw Jhessye?
4. Has the cab company verified Mom's trip that day?
5. What did you and Jhessye do that day?
6. Did the older children come inside after they came home from school? Did they interact with/see Jhessye?
7. Were the children still in the backyard when JH got home?
8. What about the neighbors. Per the 911 call, neighbors were outside when JH left.
9. Has Hunter ever had a car? Did she routinely use a cab to get around town?

approx 10 X 15 ft.......and it requires 3 children to do yard work?
unless yard work means gathering all the junk the kids have left outside?

my manners are terrible....forgot to say Thank you!

Promised myself I would not get involved in following another missing child case, but just spent a little time getting familiar with this case.

Like Lisa's and Aliayah's, this one has the needle of my hinky meter BURIED.......yikes.

Well, she is eight months pregnant and it was still quite WARM here in the afternoons. A little cooler now, but I think the highs were in the mid 90's that week.

ETA: We don't have the best public transportation here. My husband works 8 miles from our house, his office is off of the same major street as our house. In order to use a bus to get to work, he had to drive 3 miles to a bus stop and walk three quarters of a mile at the end, or he could wlk to a bus stop and take a route that would almost triple his normal twenty minute drive time.
