MsFacetious that was a wonderful well thought out post. The thank you button just wasn't quite enough! Thank you.

As I read the list, ticking off each one by one by one.

The vast majority of missing children that we see on these boards are harmed by their parent or custodial parent or stepparent...etc.

It just breaks my heart for those kids. So sad.

Very sad. I just happened upon this article yesterday about Child Abuse Homicides.

http://www.abc4.com/content/news/state/story/Child-Abuse-Homicides/HVAhSVSMXU22vy_XJvPTvQ.cspx

(snip)
An expert with the health department says they aren’t seeing more child abuse homicides this year compared with other years, but what they are seeing is the victims are getting older.
“What you are seeing is patterns of injuries over time. It’s a child living in a violent situation for a long period of time,” says Teresa Brechlin, with the State Department of Health.
“Being killed by parents is the #1 cause of death in young childhood,” says Dr. Goldsmith
And that has him working harder to try and help those children trapped in violent homes.

Eerily quiet on the boards and news front today regarding this case

You are probably way too young to remember this example of three little girls scouts that were taken from their tents and murdered.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_Girl_Scout_Murders

Completely different kind of tent: GS camps have platform tents. They are on a platform--like a deck--and are HUGE. Easy to stand up and move around. There are four full-sized cots in each one. No zippers. In fact, when I worked at a GS camp for two summers we rolled back the front and back flaps as well as rolled up all the two sides. It was like sleeping on a cot on a deck with a canvas roof over the top.

I've been following this case and my thoughts are so scattered, but I'm going to try to enumerate what stands out to me.

1. First and foremost, since the dogs lost the scent, the only thing that makes sense to me is that the child must have been taken in a vehicle. Is there any other way that the child could disappear and not leave a scent trail and not be found within the search radius?

2. The cust. mom giving the statement of his BODY not being found is definitely suspicious.

3. If there are no legal records establishing cust. mom with custody, why report the child missing if she had something to do with it? I mean, if no one could legally prove she had this child, why not just make up some story to any acquaintance who asks that the child had been returned or someone else had him? The authorities would never know any different.

4. In order to claim a dependent for welfare and such, as some have suggested as the reason she might have him, wouldn't she need papers establishing her as legal custodian? You can't just claim visitors for benefits, no matter how long they stay with you, can you?

The only thing I can firmly establish in my mind about this whole weird situation is that the family is not telling all they know.

That is SO hard to swallow.

This was three little girls in one tent alone. There was not 2 adults in the tent with them. That is where the issue is with Sylar. If he had been in a tent with two other children, we would be much less skeptical. But he was in a tent with his "Mother" and "Grandmother". As well as another child. That is totally different...to remove a 2 year old from right next to those two adults, in a tent which makes noise when you move in it.... is far different than taking him from a separate tent with only other children in it.

That is why we are skeptical. :waitasec:

Also, regarding the girl scout murders, the tent they were in (as seen by photos and described in the case) was not your typical tent. They were sleeping on a wood platform in a permanent canvas tent that was open on one end and located right next to a dense forest and away from other campers. These girls were also killed in their sleep. IMHO, a very different situation from this case.

It is...I was thinking that last night and this morning. At least he was covered on Nancy Grace....sure wish AZ would talk about him some more...and I'd sure like to see the results of those lie detector tests. But...I guess LE has reason to keep those under the belt...if the women were cleared...wouldn't they come out and say that, or not?

searching at this late hour to find news and I found this item indicating that bio mom is coming to AZ to help with search - this article indicates that she defends Preim saying that she would not have chosen someone who would hurt her son and that Preim was her friend.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5632190/syler_newtons_biological_mother_to.html

From what I read and heard most recently the biological mother of Kyron just yesterday on TV said she and Terri H. (SM) spoke, "everyday" sometimes TH would email her at least 5 times and she reciprocated as a friend.

They were friends for many years. They go way back in friendship.

Only recently this friendship seems to now be irrevocably broken by circumstance.

I wonder then, how long the friendship spoken of here with the Sylar case will remain friends.

The coverage stats on Google News has dropped significantly which makes me sick, honestly

HLN just covered Skylar's disappearance. Nothing new, but at least they put it on the air.

Who is the little boys father? Was he ok with the Bio Mom giving Syler up for adoption?

Actually... there HAS been a case of a child abducted from a tent whilst their family slept.

In 1973, 7-year-old Susan Jaegar was abducted from a tent whilst her family slept by David Meirhofer... he sliced the side of the tent with a knife, thus eliminating any zip noise.

http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Meirhofer

There was also a little girl, here in the UK, abducted from a tent in her back garden some years ago... she was sleeping in the tent with friends... you'd have thought they'd have woken at the sound of disturbance/struggle... can't for the life of me think of the little girls name and google isn't helping me!

ETA.... Found it... the little girl was called Sophie Hook and was 7-years-old at the time... she was 'camping' in her backgarden with two older siblings when she was abducted and murdered by Howard Hughes..... SURELY her siblings would have heard a disturbance... and Sophie would have put up some kind of struggle?

Good question Aim.

Maybe we will get more news updates when the biomom arrives. She was located in Indiana, if I remember right.

This is heartbreaking. Where is he?

On one of the news comments it was said they ask restaurants/fast food chains to look in their trash/dumpsters. Is there a landfill close by?

Prayers for Syler

Susan's tent was cut by an adult so there was no zipper noise. There likely wasn't walking around inside the tent either. Sylar's tent was not cut or we would have heard them leaning towards an abduction immediately. It would have taken time to prove whether it was legitimately done.

Sophie was abducted from a tent with other kids, not parents. I would not expect other children to be attentive like an adult.

I still can't find a case where a child was abducted from a tent with the parent/grandparent or even another adult...without the tent being cut open.

In Sylar's case someone would have had to probably unzip the tent without waking anyone up.

Or at the very least maneuver around 2 adults and another child in the dark without waking anyone else up, even if the tent wasn't zipped.

I can't find a case where those things happened. :waitasec:

No, she just said that Terri emailed her everyday with updates on Kyron.

She has said absolutely, crystal clear "We were NEVER friends."

Desiree met Terri after Terri started dating Kaine while Desiree was pregnant with Kyron.

Christina and Charity appear to have been friends for several years before Charity gave her child to Christina.

I do wonder if Charity and Christina will remain friends. But it sounds like Charity is in denial, so if she remains there... it may not be a problem. I am not sure if/when she is coming to Arizona. She said that the first time they interviewed her. But I would imagine it'll make the news if she arrives.

Isn't that interesting...Indiana. One of her social media sites says Corpus Christi, TX, one says Flagstaff....so why Indiana? That's odd.
http://www.examiner.com/x-39281-Pho...rch--Rescue-still-have-not-found-Sylar-Newton (reportedly in Indiana)
http://www.myspace.com/elijahandcharity (shows she's in Corpus)
http://www.facebook.com/zero.sum?v=info&ref=ts (shows she's in Flagstaff)

There's a LOT about this case that reminds me of and is parallel to Gabriel Johnson's case. TPS from that case supposedly met Gabriels mother EJ at an Indianapolis, IN airport (check).
Mother of boy mentally unstable (check)
Potential adoptive mother has criminal background (check)
Living in AZ, fled to TX (in this case lived there at one time, check)
Disappeared under questionable circumsatnces (check, and yes I realize this could apply to every case )

At least in this case, there was an actual search for this sweet angel early on.

CP's sister AG has a public FB page. I'm curious what she was doing in Mexico recently (isn't border travel not recommended right now...highly dangerous?), and why she had to come back early and "babysit" on a favor.

Praying this little one is found. :praying:

Okay, I'm going to throw this out there.

Don't shoot me, this is something my Husband said the other night while we were driving and I told him about Sylar.

He said "What about illegal adoption"? I said well TP was probably in the process of an adoption that wasn't within the legal parameters as we think of it...

He said no...What if TP took this child (perhaps without biomother knowing her intent) and was going to get money for an illegal adoption. She handed him off, and never thought in a million years that the case of a missing child would go national.

He also said---what if the deal fell through and she had a child that wasn't hers, but she knew she would have a hard time doing something with him because she wasn't his legal guardian...and she didn't want the responsibility. So she "disposed" of him?

I haven't thought that through, I just tucked his idea in the back of my head.

Me? I don't think so --- but what do you all think about that possibility? I told him I would probably post his idea and let you all troubleshoot it. He said "Cool" lol.

With all that's going on in AZ right now -- the odds are in her favor (sad to say) so I think your hubby had a valid point (MOO) -- as it was pointed out -- there are so many similarities (profile wise) to Gabriel it is a bit more than haunting.

And Mexico has come up again...at least for me. I wonder who the adoptive aunt knows there and has LE checked video at the border patrol? With the FBI involved...I would assume this was done.

I'm also quite interested in Indiana. Why was mom there...and how long did it take LE to reach her? Anyone know?
