A desperate search is underway for a missing 23-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Surveillance video shows Cameron, who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, leaving the bar alone after 1:30 a.m. His mother says a few of his belongings were found just a block away the following day.

Surveillance video obtained by 10News shows Bailey Cameron leaving Coyote Bar and Grill alone just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. His family says his phone, eyeglasses, and backpack were found the next morning on the curb outside Vigalucci’s, an Italian restaurant about a block away. But no one has heard from him since the day before.

Vigalucci’s manager confirmed to 10News that they found those items on Sunday morning and turned them into police.

The article states he was seen leaving the bar alone. Did he also arrive at the bar alone? How did he get to the bar and how was he supposed to return to base?

Was he outside waiting on an Uber or Lyft? Belongings found on/near curb... MOO

Family, military officials searching for missing Camp Pendleton Marine last seen in Carlsbad

A Camp Pendleton spokesperson confirmed to CBS 8 that efforts are underway to locate U.S. Marine Bailey Cameron.

Per his father, Cameron was scheduled to complete his duty as an active Marine on September 9 after five years of service.

In the larger photo you can see he bought a Smart Water, some kind of drink (looks like a Nesquik or Muscle Milk type of protein drink?) and I can't figure out what the small thing is. It looks pill-bottle sized but has writing on the top so not a standard childproof lid - maybe gum or a caffeine shot or something? or even a can with a blue pull tab like sugar free red bull?

edit - the more I look at the photo the more convinced I am it's sugar free red bull. Why would he be buying 3 full-size drinks?

Camp Pendleton Marine missing for more than a week

Lance Cpl. Bailey Cameron was last seen early on Sunday, Aug. 25 in Carlsbad, California. Authorities are looking for help in locating him.

Does that mean he was about 2 weeks away from formally leaving military service, or does it mean something else?

If this is a voluntary disappearance, it doesn't make sense to just leave with only two weeks left, or am I missing something?

For a lot of people, leaving the military is extremely stressful. The structure and reliability can be very comforting, and men sometimes feel very adrift without that to count on.

At this point it seems he's voluntarily gone missing. I wonder what that is in his hand, in the store? Did he buy those things?

Good point - I thought the same thing - then I noted that he is wearing glasses in his military photos (like the one in uniform with what is likely a family member) but his "social" posts of other than military activities he's NOT wearing glasses. I have glasses for when I don't want to mess with my contacts, but if I have extra lenses, I don't worry if I'm on the road without my glasses. So he might not have really NEEDED the glasses. The phone I can see leaving intentionally to avoid being tracked on it, if his leaving was deliberate (which is not known at this time).

Law enforcement officials also issued a statement saying they are following all leads and staying in close communication with family members in an effort to locate Cameron or determine his whereabouts. Military officials and police are cooperating in the search, while the Naval Criminal Investigative Service has also been informed about Cameron’s disappearance.
