This trial will be an interesting counterpoint to the HM/TS trial. The Ellises apparently are very wealthy - much wealthier than SWM. The sons revealed a glimpse of what that money can buy you if you have the right connections. IIRC, when the sons originally got to Bali, the police drove them and their unhandcuffed mother to the house (where the misleading photo of the three was taken) and then brought in a special lunch! Very surreal!

Meanwhile, the de Malmanche trial is having difficulty getting started. Three sessions in a row and the prosecutor said he couldn't provide the required licensed legal translator because one wasn't available. Somewhat like the HM/TS case, there's an outside (NZ) attorney co-ordinating things. Unlike HM/TS, de Malmanche has no money. Fund-raisers have only gotten <$15K.

Assuming a problem-free birth, I wonder how long HM will be allowed 'time off' from court? In this situation (pregnant inmate gives birth during trial), I wonder if she will be allowed to bring the child to court with her? Or, since the child isn't on trial, perhaps her Aussie supporters will baby-sit.

I wonder if we'll hear anything at the end of today (Wednesday). Surely all the journos and photographers cant be in Cilacap (Java) to follow any movements to and from Nusakambangan Island.

:sigh:

Yay, we get photos this week ..... quite a few media members there. So, where is the NEWS!!! :gaah:

Heather Mack of the US waits inside a holding cell before a trial hearing at a court in Denpasar on Indonesia's resort island of Bali on March 11, 2015.

I wonder why they keep repeating the news from the first day of the trial and have nothing new? TS looks as if he has gained a little weight. I wonder what happened to his wrist? HM looks healthy. I am sure she is uncomfortable being 37 weeks pregnant in the heat and humidity. Thinking about that poor baby once she is born. Would be nice if the trial wrapped up and she was deemed unfit to care for the baby.

Same news on Yahoo. Only mentioning it to show the pics are getting published.

Tommy probably burned his wrist while trying to make silver jewelry in one of the workshops. I believe that one is run by one of the Bali 9 who are not up for execution. Maybe he's trying to make a ring for his baby mama. Is there some kind of code between them with the pink engagement strings or the yellow ones that look like elastic bands?

So it looks like the photographers were back at the courthouse and not at Kerobokan. I wonder who else my have been making an appearance there that drew their attention?

Thanks for the link to the Yahoo Featured Video Kamille -:)

At 5:54 on the second video we hear the familiar feedback about the trial
- the make-up and the hair done, the appearance as if nothing had happened
At 6:34 we hear that although Noor Ellis has confessed to organizing and being part of the killing of her husband - her defence team are putting forward that she only asked the hit men to hurt him - not to kill Bob Ellis

Haven't we heard something similar in the defence for TS? That he hit her but he didn't mean to kill her - thats why he is pleading not guilty - and he is taking the brunt of the murder charges (HM's BS bathroom story)
The cases really have so many similar elements - the difference being in HM's case - HM brought her own hitman and didnt hire locals.

Im certainly going to keep my eye on the Noor Ellis case.

???!!! I was sure I had read that the witnesses were presented first, then HM and TS would testify. Either there's been a LOT going on that we haven't heard about or I was wrong. HM took the stand and officially threw TS under the bus. Now those are the pictures I would want to see!

In her first court questioning Wednesday, Mack said Schaefer beat her mother with a metal soup bowl after von Wiese-Mack made the threat in an argument. Von Wiese-Mack objected to their relationship.

Mack, who is eight months' pregnant, answered "no" when the judge asked whether she wished her mother dead.

Kamille, you were very right. Another trial of a foreigner also finally got started: de Malmanche, drugs, New Zealander.

(From the AP story on ABC news)
BALI, Indonesia — An American woman charged with premeditated murder in the death of her mother on Indonesia's Bali island told a court Wednesday that her boyfriend killed her mother in anger after she threatened to kill their unborn baby.

So now Sheila threatened to kill the unborn fetus Heather was carrying? Yeah, right.

I think there's actually a bit of good news here. When they were first arrested, HM/TS came up with a preposterous story about kidnappers. They gave up on that pretty quickly (once the camera footage emerged).

But then...at the very beginning of the trial, it seemed to come up again. It sounded like the defense was actually trying to suggest that SWM might have been killed by someone else. That's when I started getting concerned that they were thinking they could get the camera footage thrown out.

At least that's out of the way now and officially, TS is the killer. I wouldn't be surprised if HM tries to claim that her confession about sitting on the suitcase, etc. was coerced.

Story changing up a little again....

"The blow was not so hard ... and my mother was still resisting," Mack said. "I asked Tommy to stop and then I ran into the bathroom."
Mack said when she left the bathroom, she found Schaefer on the bed trying to give her artificial respiration.
"Tommy said my mother was not breathing," she said. Mack said she also tried to revive her but it didn't work.
She said they panicked and thought about either calling the police or taking the body in a suitcase to the U.S. Consulate. She did not explain why they did not do either one.
"We panicked and didn't know what to do," she said.

Mack answered "no" when the judge asked whether she wished her mother dead.

They were going to take the body to the U.S. Consulate? :floorlaugh:

And they both tried to give her "artificial respiration"? LMAO at the translation but I don't recall hearing that before. I thought HM got the blood all over her from hugging her dead mother.

I hope it's that last lie, that flies in the face of the premeditated texts between them, that seals her fate. I truly hope her $75,000 so far gets her nothing and that AS is just fleecing her.

I think the defense was just trying to get an element of confusion in regarding the mistakes on the indictment and trying to get the whole case thrown out. When the judges allowed for the prosecution to correct those errors, I suppose it was then that the defense knew they had to abandon the possibility of other intruders. I think they were just making an example of shoddy police work regarding not even knowing what room the murder was committed in.

What the heck does this mean? Resisting being murdered?
“The blow was not so hard … and my mother was still resisting,” Mack said. “I asked Tommy to stop and then I ran into the bathroom.”
http://chicago.suntimes.com/news-ch...-woman-says-boyfriend-killed-mother-indonesia

I think that is also lost in translation. She probably meant her mother was still fighting. To set up the self defence that Tommy is going to claim regarding the "choking".
