I don't see her trying to make a break for freedom.

I don't either. For one thing, where would she go? At this point in time she has no independent direct conduit to the money to finance life as a fugitive. Ask who in the US might be willing to help her...my guess is she has not got a single person, and Kia does not strike me as a stupid woman, hence you have not seen her plastered all over the media and I also suspect she knows just what kind of evil HM represents. The only allure she holds for anyone is the hope she can get her hands on the money and she cannot do that without being legally free to do so. If history is any kind of prediction of future behavior HM lacks any real survival skills that don't involve someone else's money and she sure as hell is not smart. She is also notorious at this point without any redeeming or noble cause. She may be cunning within the confines of the legal system when she has some help and I'm sure all those years of she and SWM dealing with the lawsuits, something would have rubbed off. But to try to escape and survive, nah, my money is on her staying right where she is and present as a good girl until at least sentence is passed, of course these are just my meanderings of thought as usual.

Welcome dogmum :welcome:

It sounds as though there was a brief appearance in court last week by their lawyers – I guess they had to present their doctor excuses - but the trial (sentencing recommendation) continues tomorrow 31st March.

While the couple’s lawyers attended the hearing, the prosecution’s sentence demand could not be read without the defendants’ presence. The trial has been adjourned until March 31.

And, apparently, three prison guards accompanied HM and baby to the hospital.

Three officers from Bali’s Kerobokan prison accompanied Mack on Friday to the Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, where a nurse told the BaliPost website, “the health of [the mother] and baby was checked.”

I looked at the video a few times trying to find those 3 guards and her lawyer Novi Warani. All I saw was the paramedic lady. Did they all stop for coffee or something? :giggle:

MOO

I was looking for this previously, found it :) yay - Waiting to see what the prosecution comes up with if it does not get rescheduled again.

Both are charged with several articles of the Criminal Code, including Article 340 on premeditated murder, which carries the death penalty; Article 338 on murder, carrying a 15-year prison term; Article 170 subsection 2 on violence causing death, which has a maximum 12-year prison term; and Article 221 on hiding a criminal, carrying a nine-month prison term.

I think they may have been talking about the driver, the lady who escorted HM, and the other lady in the same uniform who said something to them as they were walking in the lobby and the other lady was walking back outside.

I wonder if they were staff/paramedics from the police hospital, who took HM to the larger public hospital where infant care is meant to be better.

:dunno:

Okay I've looked up the name on the ambulance which is "ambulance pemasyarakatan". Translated it is penitentiary ambulance. So that ambulance does appear to have come from Kerobokan. The two women are also wearing penitentiary logos on their shirts so they are some type of penitentiary employee. I think you're correct SouthAussie, considering neither women has a badge or gun or anything else distinguishing them as guards, I'm guessing they were both from the prison clinic.

Who wants to bet that's not the way Tommy (or any other male prisoner) would have been transported to the hospital. ;)

MOO

Basically, I think she and Stella kept everyone up the one night, and I think the breastfeeding is not going well.

The young parents facing a death sentence in the Bali 'body in the suitcase' murder, took their new-born baby to court today to prove that they have everything to live for.

When the prison gates opened today to take the couple, who are separated inside, to the court, onlookers were surprised to see Schaefer carrying baby Stella - the first time he had been seen with her.

They were led to separate holding cells, Miss Mack sitting at the rear of hers with her arms around the baby, who was covered in a white shawl.
It was expected she would take the child into the court with her when the murder case was due to proceed within two hours of them arriving from the prison.

A woman who has been helping Miss Mack said the teenager was not trying to use the baby to influence the judges, but the friend admitted that the appearance of the child would help to support the couple's insistence that they had a reason to be allowed to live.

I hope the judges remember very clearly that Sheila, too, had a reason to be allowed to live .... that this murderous duo had no right to take her life, and stuff her in a suitcase!!!!!

If the judges at today's hearing accept the Prosecution case that Schaefer had battered Mrs Wiese-Mack to death and that Miss Mack had helped him stuff the body into the suitcase, the hearing will move onto the next stage - hearing the defence argument.

It is estimated that it will be at least a month before the judges make the final decision on whether the pair are guilty.

The young parents facing a death sentence in the Bali 'body in the suitcase' murder, took their precious widdle GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD to court today to prove that they have everything to live for.

When the prison gates opened today to take the couple, who are separated inside, to the court, onlookers were surprised to see Schaefer carrying his court sympathy prop - the first time he had been seen with her.

They were led to separate holding cells, Miss Mack sitting at the rear of hers with her arms around the unlimited Big Mac bonanaza, who was covered in a white shawl.
It was expected she would take the unwitting pawn into the court with her when the murder case was due to proceed within two hours of them arriving from the prison.

A woman who has been helping Miss Mack said the teenager was not trying to use the chubby cheeked bargaining chip to influence the judges, but the friend admitted that the appearance of the hapless, innocent vicim would help to support the couple's insistence that they had a reason to be allowed to live.

They are so gross! I couldn't help myself  I had to make a few changes to this article. Anything in red is my own substitution for the word "baby". Is nothing sacred to these two? Don't answer, it was a rhetorical question. Unfortunately I already know the answer.

Here is a little more barf material from the updated article ... with the usual dab of manipulation, to keep the baby in that horrible place with her.

As she waited in the holding cell, Miss Mack said she and Schaefer were married 'in spirit'.
She said: 'He has made us a ring each to wear from his side of the prison.'

She added that she intended to continue breastfeeding for two years.
'In the US breastfeeding is for nine months but Stella will be longer.'

UPDATE:

A 19-year-old mother burst into tears when the prosecutor demanded she spend 15 years in a Bali prison - but spared her the death penalty.

The Prosecution at Denpasar District Court has also demanded 18 years jail for Schaefer and tears rolled down his face when he heard the news through an interpreter.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...akes-newborn-Bali-COURT-prove-compassion.html

Their lawyers will respond to the prosecution's case next week.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/mar/31/indonesian-prosecutors-seek-up-to-18-year-term/

And she revealed that an orange rubber band tied around her left ring finger symbolised something like an engagement ring, saying she hopes to marry Schaefer this year.

And asked if she intends to marry Schaefer this year in jail, she said: “Maybe, I hope so.”

Yesterday Mack told News Corporation that she intends to keep the baby in jail and then “probably” Schaefer’s mother will care for her.
