A 26-year-old man from Wigan has been reported as missing while on holiday in Majorca. Benjamin Ross, from Golborne, has not been heard from since speaking to his mum on July 10.

Ben, who had travelled to the Spanish island in June to visit a friend before deciding to extend his stay and moving into a temporary rental after finding a local job, last spoke to his mum Felix almost a week ago.

Ben had journeyed to Majorca in June to see a friend. After securing a local job, he decided to prolong his visit and moved into a temporary rental.

Felix mentioned that they were trying to organise a bank transfer for Ben after he had his phone, passport, keys and wallet stolen while taking a dip at the beach, reports the Manchester Evening News.

She urged anyone with information about her son's location to come forward. "Like any mother, no matter what age your children are, they are still your children", Felix expressed.

"I just need to know my son is safe and well. The past few days have been agonising. Please, if anyone has seen Ben, even if it's just for a moment, inform the authorities. We need to find him."

The Foreign Office is providing support to Ben's family and are 'in contact with local authorities'. A representative for the department stated: "We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities."

Felix revealed that she has been liaising with LBT Global, the international charity assisting the family of Jay Slater, and is arranging to travel to Majorca in the next few days

Ben is feared to have no money and no way of contacting family members for help after his bag was stolen at the beach on July 6.
Ben is thought to have had a row with his flatmates after being accidentally locked out of their apartment

After his bag was stolen on July 6, family say Ben spent hours at the police station reporting the incident before getting lost on his way home due to no longer having the aid of his phone for directions.
He eventually made his way home but struggled to get the attention of flatmates to let him in because it was so late at night.

Ben decided to break into the flat so he could get to bed - but it's said to have infuriated flatmates, who are accused of then calling the cops on July 10.

Thanks for that info. I was doubting the theft situation, thinking it was a scam story (not by Ben, but by someone else). But it looks like he actually was robbed.

On behalf of the family the Bulletin today received this statement: “Felix Robinson, mother of missing British man Benjamin Ross (26, from Golbourne) is appealing for information from residents and tourists in Mallorca about the whereabouts of her son after not hearing from him since July 10.

Benjamin has had a history of mental health issues after suffering during his studies to become a Barrister and the pressures of the pandemic. After treatment and seemingly feeling much better, Ben went to Palma to take a break and work in a better climate. He secured a job with a local energy company in Palma and was seemingly doing well until a series of unfortunate events led to him going missing.

Both Brits were captured on CCTV footage at the car hire desk in Copenhagen airport hours before they went missing - but a third unknown man was later seen with them in the Toyota, according to local media reports.

Investigators are now seeking this third individual believed to have been in contact with the victims before the tragedy, who appears to have skirted the glare of security cameras at the car rental location.

Stealing is a common problem faced by many tourists visiting Majorca and, in particular, the capital Palma. The Palma de Majorca airport website warns that “foreigners” and especially “people who look and act like oblivious tourists,” are the “targets of choice” for pickpockets.

What is the relevance of the Copenhagen / Sweden incident (involving the two men from North London) to Benjamin's disappearance in Majorca? Sorry if I have missed something obvious.

Not sure of the revelance to this case either. Perhaps just reference to dangers of travel?
