Coronation Street actor Bill Roache: Sex victims bring it on themselves

THE actor, who plays Ken Barlow in the hit TV soap, says sex abuse victims are being punished for past sins in previous lives.
The Coronation Street star provoked fury with a string of bizarre claims he made in a TV interview.
He said famous men shouldnt be judged for getting caught in the trap of sleeping with under-age girls.
And, discussing paedophiles, Roache claimed we should be totally forgiving whether theyre guilty or not.
The actor, who plays Corries Ken Barlow, discussed sex abuse victims with interviewer Garth Bray.

He said: If you accept that you are pure love, and if you know that you are pure love and therefore live that pure love, these things wont happen to you.
Bray asked him: To some people, that sounds perhaps like youre saying victims bring things on themselves. Is that what youre saying?
Roache replied Not quite, but then, yes I am, because everything that happens to us has been a result of what we have been in previous lives.
The 80-year-old star also claimed that whether theyre proven guilty or not, we should not be judgmental about anybody, ever, as he discussed paedophilia.
He added: If somebody has done something wrong, then the law will take its course. But we shouldnt go around condemning. We should always be totally forgiving about everything.
Roache said it was a complex situation that had been stirred up by the Jimmy Savile case.
He went on: Paedophilia is absolutely horrendous. Paedophiles should be sought out, rooted out and dealt with.
But theres a fringe of people who, particularly pop singers, they have these groupies.
These girls who come, theyre sexually active, sexually mature. They dont ask for their birth certificate, they dont know what age they may be.
But theyre certainly not grooming them and exploiting them but they can be caught in this trap.
