Pillay says spatter could be caused by moving someone who is bleeding. Jones agrees.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago
Talking about washing blood with water. Is it all diluted or is some "whole" blood pushed forward by the water? Jones doesn't know answer.

Oh, Mr. Overprecise is asking ...

Yeah, not sure of the thrust of this line of questioning. It seems like blood evidence and the moving of bodies is something you'd want to move the jury past as quickly as possible if you were on Defense.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Jones agrees he does not know how blood stains got on truck. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 24s24 seconds ago
May 15, 2013 Jones begins exam of truck. He looked inside first. Rear seats were in upright position.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 36s36 seconds ago
Sgt Robert Jones is being cross examined by Ravin Pillay, the layer for Dellen Millard

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 23s23 seconds ago
He did not see a shell casing on floor of back seat.

Yes, you would certain think so. I think it's pretty obvious at this point (to the jury) that these two were with Tim in that truck. In that I think the Crown has already provided reasonable evidence of it.

I'm no defense lawyer but it would seem the best they can do is just point fingers at each other now?

Man, the shell casing again. I don't think this is the "smoking gun" so to speak. Move along fellas

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
As he withdrew from truck he observed shell casing that wasn't there a moment earlier. Could have fallen when he leaned on seat.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
Pillay is asking about the shell casing found in the back seat

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Pillay also asks about discovering the shell casing in the truck. He saw it after leaning on back passenger seat (folded up). #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
Thomas Dungey, the lawyer for Mark Smich is now cross examining the witness

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
It could have been lodged in the seat and fallen out when you put your hand on it? PIllay asks. Jones agrees. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Pillay done. Now Dungey, acting on behalf of Smich. Establishing there is nothing in Jones' notes about shell casing. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Dungey now up for cross-examination. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 31s32 seconds ago
Dungey asks Jones if another police officer told him about casing found. Jones says no, but he heard about it in "the news." #Bosma

One of those repeated, answerless questions from the trial newb:

There's no way Millard or Smich will take the stand, right?

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 4m4 minutes ago
"You don't know how those stains got there, correct?" Pillay says. Jones says that's correct.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 4m4 minutes ago
Pillay now asking about the first time Jones examined the truck, and that he saw the seats in an upright position at that time.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 20m20 minutes ago
Pillay asks if any hypothetical (like the three the Crown put forth) is "pure speculation." Jones says that's fair.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 14m14 minutes ago
You agree with me that blood can spatter from trying to move a body that has been bleeding? Pillay says. Jones says it's possible.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 8m8 minutes ago

Highly doubt it. But DM has quite an arrogance about him, you never know if he'd bite.

Newbie to following trials as well, so I wonder, can either of the accused be called to testify against the other? Is that even a thing?

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 4m4 minutes ago
Smich's lawyer Thomas Dungey now cross examining about the shell casing.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 4m4 minutes ago
"You have no notes about this casing whatsoever about this vehicle, correct?" Dungey asks. Jones says that's correct.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 4m4 minutes ago
Dungey now showing Jones an excerpt from his meeting with the Crown pre trial.

Adam Carter ‏@AdamCarterCBC 1m1 minute ago
Jones says he hasn't talked to officer McLellen about the case, but Dungey is arguing to the contrary.

Exactly! Likely when the back door of the trailer flew open while traveling at 110km/h on the highway. ;)

And lucky for them, it was the same caliber casing as the gun pics found later. I mean, what are the odds?!

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 34s34 seconds ago
Jones being asked to read document that involves prep notes by Tony Leitch. "Looked back, shell casing now in position."

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Note says "as seen by jury." Jones says that's Crown's notation. He has no idea what jury has seen. Dungey reminds him he's seen the news.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
"My job is to deal with blood stains." Let other investigators know about shell casing.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
Dungey is grilling him about his discovery of the casing, which he says Jones made no note of. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 11s12 seconds ago
Jones says his job was to deal with bloodstains. That when he comes across other items of relevance he alerts investigators. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 8s9 seconds ago
"The casing tells me nothing when it comes to blood stain analysis. When casing is ejected from gun it can end up anywhere in the vehicle."

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 31s31 seconds ago
Agrees it's possible for a casing "to go flying to the back."

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 18s18 seconds ago
#Smich lawyer Dungey now q's about why expert didn't make a note when he noticed the gun casing. Says his job was blood spatter analysis

Le sigh.

"But why didn't you videotape it, like they do on television?"

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 48s48 seconds ago
Dungey asking about bullet trajectories. Pillay objecting that Jones is blood pattern expert, not ballistics.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Jones says he can't say direction any projectile was going at time. Dungey: If passenger window broken, does it not suggest driver shot gun?

Is Dungey trying to cause the jury to assume it was DM, or cause them to cast doubt on Jones' himself?
