Sachak says a "tiny portion" of the 50,000 square foot hangar at the Waterloo Airport was set up for Millard's projects.

Mar 31 2016 3:16 PM
"To suggest that this autobody shop you had took up the entire hangar would be false." Sachak says. "Yes," Schlatman says.

Mar 31 2016 3:17 PM
There was a Ford Mustang Cobra, A mini cooper, a seado, a few jeeps and other vehicles at the Waterloo hangar, Sachak says.

BBM

Why would DM or MA pay a full-time auto mechanic - one that is allegedly working 12 hour days? My mechanic likely fixes several cars a week. How many vehicles did SS work on that could justify full-time employment by DM at an airport hangar? There is no mention of much auto work for clients other than DM and perhaps a few odd friends of his.

All MOO.

RSBM

If he truly wanted and could afford the best, why was his daily-used vehicle the filthy Yukon? :/

Yeah, I thought the same thing. The jury has a pretty good insight now into DM's lifestyle and his care for his surroundings. "Only the best" my butt.

Jury is back. Schlatman still under cross.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
We are back. Sachak asks about equipment in hangar incl bobcat, boom truck, forklift, jeep/helicopter tug etc. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
You'd agree it's worth more than $20,000 bucks this stuff? He asks.
Oh yeah, Schlatman says.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 50s51 seconds ago
Schlatman had a business Visa card (given by Dell). Spent on avg $15,000/mo on supplies. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 34s35 seconds ago
Had a business VISA card given to him by Millard. Used it to buy supplies. Would spend average of $15,000/month on that card. #Bosma

I would assume that the defense appears to be trying to show that there was no motive on behalf of the accused to commit this crime. They have been trying to show that DM was not in financial disaster and in that did nod need to commit this crime. However, I believe its a very weak argument or approach due to the fact that the crown does not need to show motive here in order to prove that the crime was still committed. MOO.

You nailed it! Unfortunately for DM....even if the jury buys into this "no motive" line of defense...there's still all that pesky evidence. MOO

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 18s18 seconds ago
All his personal cars, worth well over $20,000?
Yes, Schlatman says. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 8s8 seconds ago
Millard paid for trip to Baja.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 7s7 seconds ago
Expensive trip to Baja--Dell paid for all of it, Schlatman says. #Bosma

Mar 31 2016 3:46 PM
Sachak says all the cars Millard had was worth much more than $20K.

Mar 31 2016 3:46 PM
Schlatman says that Millard paid for the trip to Baja.

Although I can say in the process of trying to prove DM had no reason to steal this truck, kill etc. The defense is doing mighty fine job of showing just how disorganized, messy and unprepared DM's life is. Much like the this murder. He seems to do things and then try figure out something after the fact.

This whole open air trailer and getting to Mexico is something I would've researched. A quick Google search or contact the race organizer would have given them that answer The best way to pull a car to Mexico, best vehicle to pull the car etc. His business dealings with JV. The way his Yukon was kept. Everything is just a mess and lazy. Why would he all of sudden plan this and clean it up unnoticed? His personality is just that lazy and disorganized. Especially N.S. he maybe the worst defense Lawyer I have ever heard he is doing a bang up job in showing why everything was left out in the open because that is just how his client is.

That's really nice for him, but most car dealerships won't let you buy a $25,000 car on a credit card.

(Unless this is different in Canada?)

And even still, why are they going through all this, why don't they just produce a bank statement? He obviously had SOME cash, since he withdrew $3000 the day he was arrested.

Mar 31 2016 3:48 PM
Sachak again attempting to illustrate Millard's wealth. "You told police he had more money than the average Joe ... he had more money than the average Shane Schlatman," Sachak says. "He's loaded, it what you told the police."

Mar 31 2016 3:49 PM
Schlatman says his cheques didn't bounce, and that he was paid on time if Millard was in town.

15K a month- YIKES!!! That's 180K a year on DM's toys. Super wow. Poor WM, he didn't stand a chance. MOO

RSBM

A 2000 model that he had recently purchased no less. And his 2005 Red Ram that he purchased in 2011.

Is it just me, or is Sachak trying to end the day on a high and leave Dungey with cross on Monday?

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 4m4 minutes ago
Excavator (in swamp)--who paid for that? Dell did. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
He had the hangar, a farm, the Maplegate residence, the riverside apartments. Did you have that many properties? Sachak asks.
No, SS says.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
You don't know his banking info, value of his assets, rental income. Schlatman agrees he does not. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 3m3 minutes ago
Schlatman told police Millard was rich. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Sachak: "He's loaded, is what you told police." Schlatman agrees. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
Sachak now talking to Schlatman about Millard's wealth

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Sachak asks if his cheques bounced, if he was paid on time.
Yes. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
Schlatman agrees he was paid on time, never had problems getting paid either

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Sachak asks if his cheques ever bounced, if he was paid on time.
They never bounced, always paid on time. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
Millard also paid for the trip to Baja, food, gas, accommodation

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 2m2 minutes ago
Sachak suggesting Millard was a good boss to Schlatman.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
He owned properties: a far, hangar, apartments, a house. "He's loaded" Schlatman told police.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Schlatman had an app on his phone that allowed him to see interior security camera footage from hangar. Could zoom in/out. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 58s58 seconds ago
"He could afford $20,000" Sachak suggests, a reference to the approximate price of #TimBosma's truck.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
Sachak asks if Millard told him on May 6 to delete the app, or to not look in the hangar on May 7, 8...
He did not. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Schlatman could work the security cameras at the hangar from an app on his phone. Never told by Millard to delete it before May 6. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 52s53 seconds ago
NS: So during those 72 hours you could've looked inside the hangar by just looking in your phone. SS: Yes. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 53s53 seconds ago
Sachak references video clip from 1:33 am on May 7, in which Schlatman ID'd Millard Smich and Pedo (DM's dog). #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 39s39 seconds ago
Camera was pointed at expensive equipment? Sachak suggests. Yes, Schlatman says. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 17s17 seconds ago
Schlatman says #Millard paid on time, his cheques never bounced. Told police boss was a "rich guy." #TimBosma

This is actually a pretty weird inconsistency, when you think about it. For someone so obsessed with vehicles, why did he personally drive such crappy ones, and why did he not care about taking care of the interiors? Where on earth was $15k/month going, when it could have been going towards a modest car payment and insurance on the Dodge Ram of his dreams?

All MOO.

Building a kit car, trying to cram a large engine into a mini Cooper, maintaining two race jeeps and their various accessories/trailers, travelling to Baja once a year, restoring his own Camaro, fixing motors on excavators that the boss was "playing around and offroading with" moving hay out of a barn because it's a fire hazard and then moving highly flammable containers in, making plans for side by side dream homes for him and the boss...the list goes on and on. Lots of work for SS.

Schlatman says he had the ability to control the camera inside the MIllardAir hangar. "You had the ability to do that on May 6, and May 7," Sachak says. "Did Dell tell you, listen I want you to delete that app on May 6?" Schlatman says no.

Mar 31 2016 3:52 PM

Mar 31 2016 3:54 PM
Sachak now asking about texts between Schlatman and MIllard after Bosma disappeared.

JV was paying a ridiculous amount of money monthly to DM to lease the red Dodge. Was SS paying DM money to lease the hangar? ;) Or AJ for that matter? Sounds like these guy were working on their own toys at times; golf cart, cars. I guess JV didn't have "that" kind of relationship with DM and didn't fit into "that" circle. A new meaning of the term "friends with benefits" I guess. MOO.
